Ok so I need some COMPETENT diagnosis for this...
I got a Asus M5A88-M-EVO, socket AM3+ motherboard.Recently I got a power failure for like 10 seconds and I found out that my PC keyboard stopped working and the printer too. They were both plugged in the 2 USB 3.0 ports.
Now I can't see the USB 3.0 ports in device manager(windows 7) and everything I plug into the 3.0 USB ports is not working. All the 2.0 USBs are working.I mention that the PC shut down and I had to restart it.
Should I try to reinstall the windows or could it be a hardware problem? The motherboard is 2 months old so I still can get a replacement for it.
Thanks in advance. -

How important is thermal paste?
When I was installing my CPU I had to remove the fan and I don't know how it affected the paste.
It was still fresh so it might have spread but when I put it back on it was in a circle around where the fan was.
So does it have to be spread directly on the bottom or is it ok around?
Not sure if it made much sense. -
Oh, I forgot to say.. I keep one side open from the case. ^^'
Doesn't help.
And I can't yet make any changes on it, since I have.. warranty(?) left..
So some other suggestions, please.
^^'

click on where it says SpeedFan 4.47. -
You want it even across the whole top of the CPU and to be as close to the same all around. So you don't get hot spots on the chip. Also to much is a bad thing and too little is a bad thing. Can't be exact on whats perfect as everyone is different and applies it different. How important is thermal paste?

Wait, are you applying new paste?
If you separate the heatsink away from the CPU then you would highly consider using new paste.
Clean off both the heatsink and CPU surface(preferably with a micro-fiber cloth) and then reapply new paste. -
It was the paste that came pre applied to the fan.
I had to remove the fan once while building the computer so the paste was spread in a circle around the base of the fan instead of directly under.
For the moment would I be ok while I order new paste? -
If not sure just be safe and grab so new paste and reapply it.It was the paste that came pre applied to the fan.

Asus M5A78L-M LX PLUS Micro ATX AM3+
I have internet now using Driver Pack Solution, but it's a bloated program, installs russian sht, and is an outdated version.
My internet keeps constantly disconnecting so I need to see if installing/updating the modem driver will fix it.
It might be it because the modem in devices says it has no drivers, I guess the only thing I installed was the network driver and I need the modem one. -
I don't know everything. Nor ever claimed to know so. But I will try my best to provide information and if not at least try to point you in the right direction for the needed info. What would I do without you Domes.
It hasn't disconnected in 30 mins+ so I hope it's fixed.
Now I'm downloading steam games.
