To be fair, it looks like you're doing everything right at the moment. The problem is with the timing and with the game itself.
If we had a league like ESG 3 years ago, there would be a lot more people around competing, along with probably more people being brought in. It's tough to keep playing CF when games like CS:GO are out, which are much more technically sound. There is also much more competition in the free-to-play market than there was a few years ago, when CF was relatively new, and it looks like there will be more in the future coming from AAA developers.
The game itself is very dated and has glitches going back many years. The lack of support for 125hz+ mice along with the noticeable lack of any competitive-friendly features makes me think that competitive play is not the main focus here ; it even seems to me like the developers + NA publisher have this "what do I get" attitude towards the competitive community, in that they see it as a tool to promote the rest of the game to more casual players, as opposed to being a goal in itself. The results is very little effort put forth towards marketing the competitive section of the game. It looks like this has somewhat changed within the last year, but, again, I wonder if it's too late.
Let's be honest here: a lot of players are sticking around not because CF is the best game out there, but because they don't know better or, and this was my case for the last few years, because they know that they will not be able to compete in a game with a more fleshed out competitive scene.
I hope that I'm not seeing the whole picture here and that CF will grow bigger and bigger. Good luck to you guys with the endeavor. -
Community is a huge problem. If the community doesn't stop trash talking random people who come in "echo8" to get better, they won't want to come back. Now, many of you will probably try to argue like "be quiet pubstar", "do u even play comp?" and other ignorant remarks... Just save it lol, you'd only add onto my point.
Fix the community (you, the person reading this) by being nicer to new players and who knows, maybe it'll start populating a little more.

The game hasn't changed much since 2009. If you look at CSGO, the developers are constantly making positive changes to the game because they actually read the player's opinions. CF's devs are from Asia, probably don't speak English, and most likely never have read one suggestion from this forum. If they are making money from ZP, why would they care about what the competitive side thinks? People here keep thinking the game will miraculously make some big changes but it just won't happen.
tldr; too many issues within the game itself, devs don't care, game gets unappealing real quick. -

I scrim on my main, top frag, lose cuz the other teams better, get called trash and a pubstar (even tho almost 20 bomb).
I go on an alt, against the same players, 13-8, top frag, still lose, get asked to join team.
With that example, it clearly shows this community is toxic lol. You want people to come back to echo8 "pro channel" and yet all you do is trash the person. Makes no sense at all lmfao.
Back to the main point... Trash talking to a friend, or someone you respect/enjoy playing against is fine, but when you hackusate when you lose, and attempt to insult ones family, it crosses a line and they either don't compete anymore, or are too scared to go to LANs because they'd get picked on for their looks/size. -
