A little input - Please

I'm going to be fairly forward and skip straight to the point. I know Cross Fire seems very inactive. We all see it. I see a lot of threads on talking about the game being dead. I see a lot of very negative discussions about the competitive scene, or lack thereof.

Is there any draw to compete in events here? Is there something we're missing? What can we do? Trust me, I know we (as a League) have made our fair share of mistakes and I know that doesn't help at all. No need to preach to me about that.

Are the events being run seem stale? Are teams just tired of playing? Just lay it all out here guys. I'm in a very large brainstorming phase, trying to figure out what I can do to at least have some resemblance of a scene.

Skip the obvious --- Game seems dead, Hackers (duh), other games (CS:GO, duh), etc.

Focus on this game only.

Help me help you. Please. Discuss. New event ideas, off the wall ideas, suggestions, anything.

  • well for a first the new GM needs to be more open to the competitive scene and actually use our suggestions
  • well for a first the new GM needs to be more open to the competitive scene and actually use our suggestions

In what regards? What would you like him to be open about? Suggestions such as? Maybe I should open up a thread strictly for these kinds of suggestions? They don't always have time to get to specific threads, so I could maybe forward suggestions to them as they are made.
  • 1. promote the competitive scene more on the home page and facebook.
    2. We need lans but with good prize money.
    3. would be nice to have a open and pro league again.
  • 95% of the players do not use the forum. You need to find a way to reach them.

The current support system is not good enough. There are people who reported hackers. The tickets are still open, never watched at it in 4 years.

Report sytem should be integrated, flagging cheaters. The GMs only have to look at the flagged ppl, look at this thread!
    http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=293938

There should be more polls, more imput from the players.

A lot of players want to help but they don't let us. If we make a suggestion it takes years before something really happens. I understand that you have to work with the game developers. Ofcourse it will take some time.

There should be more MODS/GMs online in the game. In 4 Years i only saw 2 MODS.

You guys can't help it that the players Always QQ, kick good players for no reason, insult,... .

I hope this is a reply you where hoping for.
  • idea/input

    ajajaja an input?

realy, this is a bit very strange and söööööu low....

i liked u polleus but now are u too on my list, for the unserious mods/gms from crossfire na.

many many peoples left the game from years. i guess since 2011 are the moste gone, but this is my oppinion...

we and i are very sure, u and your crashed z8 house knows what is to do.

not new bm weapons or moneyshaker vips.

first MUST u stopping to ban legit players who complain about haks!

ik some words of this kind of peoples are very racistic and hard, but hey they have all a big reason.

i dont know if u play self sometimes cf na, but atm is the game again unplayble.

sure we can play with friends and in the clan but what is with the public players, who dosent spend big money in this game? they play a week or some days and then they quit. like my friend, he tryed it to play cf in the last month, and he said to me, no more!!! there are toooooo many haks.

so what u guess needs u to do?

second is, u dont need to ban some areas with IPs, the best thing is an ping limit! all pings under 100 are legit, all other higher pings cant joining the game! its sooo holly molly simply.

note: yes my english sucks ik, but hey it works ;)

    regards
  • One thing you have to realize is that few of the actual competitive teams/players go on the forums. The competitive forums are filled with people who don't even play this game anymore, they just come on the forums to trash the game, and its pretty often the same people making posts about it (ex:snipes, dellz, taeyeon, chubrub). Just ignore them, it really isn't that bad. My suggestion to you is to just keep throwing events the way you have been, while considering suggestions coming from the players. If no-one has complaints/suggestions about the way you are running things, then keep doing it the way you have been. All you can do is ignore the people who are trying to bring the community down and hope more teams and players come back to the game as more events/prizes come along.

Also I haven't logged on in a while to check but i heard from an ex-teammate we still didn't get our 3rd place prize from last summer ESG battlegrounds #1 i think? Don't remember which event all i know is that i bugged you and mike for months to get 25k zp for myself and my teammates and its pretty sad that none of us have got it yet
  • It doesn't matter. 99.9% new players with half a brain trying the game out now won't keep playing because of the cheaters. Do whatever it takes to get rid of them and then talk to us. Don't get me wrong, I think what you're doing is great but given the circumstances, it's pretty pointless.
  • Im pretty sure everyone on competive wants to promote cf competive but theres no way how. Lets say in 2012 when i would click any website i would see cf ads 55% of the time know its almost at 5%. The hacks are of course one thing but honestly if cf was 1cent it would cut the hacks in half for sure. I also think its cf competive community people judge the community when its only 10% of the players that acutally act the way they describe. I have some suggestions ill put a few out but how about make 2 new servers and simply call one CompetiveNA and CompetiveUK or how ever you please. Most people dont even know there is a competive server. There are more tournaments in one day then scrims in one week thats because cf actually made a announcement and has a simple button were any player can go to im not asking for a fancy button but a little bit more recognition. Also if cf were streamed more/cast it would increase i mean the esl matches arent even on the crossfire esl twitch wich is just sad in my opinion. More leagues is also something maybe a king of the hill hosted every month i got more suggestions but if i type to much it will end up to long and no one would read it if you truly wanna know all im right here on the fourms. Im not even gonna lie I applied to be a mod to help cf competitive its been a while so I doubt ill get accepted but thats what we truly need a cf competive player who can take all suggestions and give it back im always on cf competive fourm and mumble listening what people say they have great ideas but no one to contact for them.
  • There's no point to play during these seasons. When there aren't any LANs to attend, any international tournaments to practice for (aka 10 months of the year), there is simply no reason to be playing competitive. Sure, if you're already decent you can win $26 a week that will be delivered to your leader's Paypal 5 months later. Yes, that does add up, but it's fairly obvious which two teams are going to be winning it every weekly/monthly cup. There is no motivation for anyone new to get good, and therefore the competitive scene is doing the opposite of growing. Not to mention if you actually do find motivation to improve, it becomes very hard to do so with the immense amounts of cheaters. You'll notice that the amount of teams actively playing increases drastically around CFS and any time Purvis announces a new LAN. That's what gives us drive and that's what we need, but quite frankly, we can't have it.
  • Standard ****

    - Better games like you've said

    - Advertising
    - Prize pool is **** (I still earn more from elo boosting)
    - Boring
  • erick gets fired
    game dies

    any1 see a pattern here
  • No but really you waited way to long to make a pro league. It would have made things so much more competitive and fun and i'd probably still be playing today if it happened.

Should of listened to me z8games and not tried to run esg how you wanted it
  • Open/Pro is the way to go.

As long this game is still going, I'll keep supporting it.

Just like an abortion it's never too late.
  • coming back from a 6 month break, you can definetly notice some change(i think 6 months ago that's when the game took a nosedive) people will say "omg games been dead for years" but i think that within the last year, alot of the above average players have stopped playing the game, and the very good players, barley play. so you're stuck with awful players scrimming each other, competing in the stale esl weekly cups(mind you one or 2 good teams play in this, quick buck for a couple hrs on a video game sunday night right?)

people keep saying LAN's would change the game, they honestly wouldnt, you'd get 5-6 teams to go, and people running it would make absolutely no money.

the game is slowly dying, there is nothing nobody can really do. yeah a big prize pool will attract more players, but it's not worth it to esg or esl to run, half the teams will die in the middle of the league.

there NEEDS to be open, and invite... invite teams can have their competition, practice for the big internation tournaments coming up, big prize pool this and that, 5-6 teams in it. more teams will have a chance to win some money in open, which would attract more lower end teams to come out and play and could very well bring back some above average older players
  • people keep saying LAN's would change the game, they honestly wouldnt, you'd get 5-6 teams to go, and people running it would make absolutely no money.

FG lan had 12 teams((6 of them were random teams and old players came back to compete) but you're right the prize pool has to be worth it. But lans would defiantly help.
  • Kids are becoming adults and the nerdy adults got laid and were turned into men/women. The rest have no hope.
  • This may be a bit harsh but I think all negativity should be dealt with. There's too much freedom of speech on these forums and people abuse it and make the game look awful.

Also the homepage can get fixed up a bit make a nice graphical change.

You're running tournaments pretty smoothly, but the same people that roam the forums but don't play the game bring a huge amount of negativity to the game.

Even if someone who doesn't speak english starts complaining about hackers people shouldn't bash that 1 guy and some people do. Ive noticed when people try to join echo 8 they are instantly brought up with this negative community and for some reason the only competitive channel we have in game is being thought of limited, by that I mean you're limited in guns, chars, armor etc.

Also a big plus mods ingame that can get rid of hackers.
  • cfstars is over, and now your seeing 6-7 rooms full of scrimmers, compared to the 1-2 during cf star season
  • As for leagues, if someone is caught cheating beyond doubt, they should be banned for life. They do this in leagues overseas such as Starcraft, and it's quite effective

inb4 abc best team in game

Speed of payment is a little ridiculous.

As is the fact that several people I know have not received their payments.

Furthermore, there is no exposure of this game. I've convinced several high-level CS players I know to play CrossFire. Word of mouth is not enough.

Also, signing up for events / knowledge of the competitive rules is something that hasn't proliferated through even the pub scene, yet alone to entirely knew players.

    Few things offhand there.

    lol .
  • I'm just going to put this out there.

    Dren + Erick + CFL.

Firstly I have an idea to prevent farm bots at least . What about Letting the self nade only Makes 20 damage for example .instead of death ? This will prevent bots and annoys the farmers because they will have to Commit suicide by jumping from high places as that's slow.

    Lol..oh boy
  • As has been said a few times before, I also think that the "only" chance of more teams coming back or coming to life is to make 2 divisions: invite/open. I know that, if i was 90% of the teams in this game, I would feel no motivation to play in ESL, ESG, whatever leagues there are, because I already know I'm not going to win it when the top teams are so stacked.

I honestly don't know how this could happen at this point because there may not be enough teams to make 2 divisions, but it seems like the only viable option. There would be a lot less teams "dying" in the middle of the season if they were playing in a division that they had a chance to win.

Advertisement is another thing. There has got to be a way to advertise the competitive side of CF. I can count on one hand the amount of times that I have seen any league advertised on the CF facebook, the front page, etc. It might be reaching the point where it's a little too late for that, but it wouldn't hurt to try. Talk about how much the prize pool is and sht.

Not only advertise the leagues themselves, but advertise the matches that you would be streaming. Say it is Carbon vs Socks for example, that is the classic matchup that a lot of people would like to watch so you would want to advertise it in that way. Or if it is some other team vs Socks or Carbon, you talk about it like they are an underdog or a strong contender because most people haven't heard of any other NA teams and might want to watch that. Or if it is any other teams, make sht up, fck, idk. Just advertise according to the matchup so it makes it seem appealing to watch, and don't use any casters that are boring to listen to, that sht is so annoying.

Make highlight videos of matches? Kind of like ESEA does and HLTV does? Either from the stream itself or using the replays. Uhhh, maybe someone from the community who has the time and feels like doing it could also do the same thing from scrims during the week?

Start trying to get players to stream when they're scrimming or pubbing or whatever and advertise somewhere that they're streaming so Crossfire gets viewers. Twitch is the big thing right now.

A LAN would be the biggest thing though. I see all these people saying that we need a LAN with a big prize pool, but I understand that, for CF, that is a big task unless you could somehow get some sponsors. The point still remains true though, that the single best way to revive a lot of these old teams/old players that have stopped playing and to gain the interest of some newcomers that are competitive in another game, is an NA LAN with a good prize pool.

There are lots of ideas out there, it's just about implementing them.
  • This game has had a bug that makes me climb ladders at 2mph. That happened in 08, its still happening. Your asking me why people don't play this game? Duh?
