Also, you have to realize insurgents play a very different role in wars, they mingle with the population and are very difficult to detect, especially in communities where they may be supported by their neighbors and whatnot. They can attack and disappear near instantly, and can be a heavy nuisance e.g. IED's being the #1 killer of US militarymen in Iraq. In my opinion, in order to destroy Insurgents, you must first win the hearts of the community first or absolutely throw fear into their very hearts so they would give away the Insurgents information, but this is coming from a regular guy so, take it or leave it.

As for the actual thread, I am fairly sure America would win as they have better technology in basically all terms of military. However, many 20 years from now or 30, the tide may turn. America is being stretched out as being the "defender of the world" and basically gives loads of money to many different countries while disregarding its deficits, it will one day collapse if the trend keeps going. China is also growing extremely powerful, having one of the fastest growth rates right now, but the wealth is basically split, there is an extremely poor class in China and an extremely wealthy class also. It is not like America where generally everyone can support themselves (if you count 2 parents working at McDonalds supporting themselves, which is techincally true as it averages 34k a year per household with government aid). China's citizens do not get much government aid and their salaries are much lower than americans. Let me look it up right now....

It states that an Airline Pilot for Chinese only makes 761$ a month on average (an Airline Pilot from the US makes 100K US a year). Average salary per year for a chinese person is 4,325 USD.

So all in all, US win now, China may win later, at the rate China is growing it will win later.

Isn't the US in debt because of the wars they're in? The amount of money they spend in the Army is...wow...thats all I can say about it.
