File Modifications
Attention Mercenaries,
Starting August 9th we will be blocking any file changes in CrossFire, and any changes will receive "Error 31_9". This means that if you have altered any of the game files in any way, you will be ejected from the game and have to reinstall. This will also result from any files being corrupted during a patch. If you have this issue, please follow these steps to reinstall:
1) Uninstall the game completely, and delete Z8Games folder from your program files folder
2) Perform system cleaning (Ex. Using CCleaner)
3) Disable your Anti-Virus real-time protection
4) Re-download the newest version of the game http://crossfire.z8games.com/download.html
5) Install the game
6) Add CrossFire and CrossFire folder to your Anti-Virus and Firewall exceptions list
7) Close all programs running in the background
8) Re-enable your Anti-Virus real-time protection

Why are you forcing players to have to listen to pointless sound files? I don't want to know that my teammate is throwing a nade every time they do so.. I removed "mission success/fail" as well because I can actually read in English and it says the same thing on screen.
It'd be really nice if you could add limitations to the snd2 folder at least...
Or explain as to why you think making sure every player should hear it. I mean it's not ever been abused and/or broken so why try and fix something that isn't broken? -

To make the game more broken...
Pretty sure this new feature is gonna give us even more errors even to people that haven't changed any file -
it's a very good move to stop cheaters so thank you so much
one more thing to the guys who are saying please set an limitation to the places we can change like sounds etc
well setting a limitation means keys means breaking down means dissembling simply taking down the new protection
with the respect of course to all of your point of views
Thank you Crossfire Developers
Best Regards wishing you all the best -

If this patch affects that then this is probably the worst thing you've done to this game in a while...[GM]Kanadian wrote: »

There's your answer -

I agree with this -
Will this file check be handled by the anti-cheat? Last time I had a talk with Saidin about this when I was helping patch up a .REZ exploit. He made it clear that trying to have checks on every file would definitely increase load times. Here's what his direct reply was:Saidin wrote:Hi Phoenix.
Thanks for the message. We are fully aware of the steps to mod rez files and how simple it is to do. We are working with the devs on new checks for the games.
At the moment HGW can detect these changes however it is impossible to add every rez file on the list because the loading times would be way too high.
So there things happening with this that I can't go into major detail on, but hopefully we'll see some things to stop this kind of modifications in the future.
We'll take further and all information, regardless of whether we've got it on file already or not. It's good to have people like you who are concerned and want to help out so thanks for that!
Thanks again!
So I hope you guys figured out a way to get around this loading time concern.
Obviously you may be looking at the best interest of the game and to better the hacking situations but when you don't consider the pros/cons and the consequences of how the game is played as opposed to how you want it to be played you just **** a lot of people off.
Though we haven't seen how this new "feature" will play out; I am already unimpressed with the decision to even implement it. Hopefully this won't be as bad as I'm picturing it, further clarification can help ease the confusion. i.e, is the Snd2 sound folder included in this file check?
A very, very large majority of players selectively remove certain sounds from the Snd2 folder. At the very least I urge there to be an exception in this file checking rule for that specific folder. -
why it says failed to connect to server : W[2003] L[0] do i need to reinstall ?I Have erorr w[2003]l[0]
what i will do ?!

The only option to get rid of cheaters in the game, to do this so that all the calculations for player action (shooting, moving speed on the map, etc.) were made on the server, rather than on the user's PC.
In addition to the establishment of the game a lot of garbage on the legacy (old killmarks, and other pictures TGA) why you do not remove or clean when updates or when you reinstall the game again ?O_o -

I pretty much agree with Phoenix argument here. If it increases loading times then it's going to annoy a lot of players. And a lot of players have missing files in their Snd2 folder because they don't want to listen to the same sounds over and over again. A short term solution would be to not check the Snd2 folder while on the other hand, a long term solution would be to add more in-game sound settings so players can have more control over the sound.
However, I believe this was implanted because of the recent rez file abuse by specific amount of players. I very hope that we won't be seeing that again and I look forward to seeing how this feature will play out once the patch is live. -
