Well, the theory worked 50%, just that I forgot there is also a 2nd crc check with the gameguard. I will now need to identify which one file the gameguard's crc checks are contained in though, but as far as the patcher go, I got past that. For the mean time I will try to download and reinstall CF like you requested startburst.

Re-downloaded the game -> reinstall -> went straight into the game. I guess they updated the setup. You shouldn't need to update after installing now.

Redownload crossfire.
Install it.
Run it and all should be well I guess..

Did you get the game working? After uploading a lot of my files and using Jokers files I was able to get one of my guys back in game.

Hmm well. I'm downloading CF again since I noticed it went from 1.4 GB to like 1.45 GB or something sooo..

Omg! You don't have to re install waste of time and you don't need jokers file to get it worked another waste of time. Just start crossfire normally and wait for it since that's what I did and it worked GG

OK GUYS, follow the following, it works!

Delete CrossFire (if you havn't already)
Download it again (your CF installer should be patch 1178)
Install
And now, launch! It will go straight to HGWC

Well, i tried once again with the update on my old installed CF and got hung on the Extracting 1N.
Completed uninstalled, deleted all folders and removed all Registery related to CF and downloaded new install (for US/UK).
Got the patch error again.
Any other advice?

Update:
Tried all I i know and from what i read on the posts here and prior post that I was helped by Starburst.
After installing again it went via the auto patch. I am in the US. I got the error "patch file could
not be found" or something like that. From prior experience, I removed the RF017.rez file from the main rez folder. When extracting the files from the 1N.cab it just hangs at extracting the RF017.rez. I placed the copy downloaded from a post in here to the temp/rez folder but when the 1N.cab file is extracting it just writes it over and dies at about 373mb.
All my items are all timed out as of last night so not going to bother any longer until they put out the completed update in the Downloads so I can uninstall and re-install next weekend since that is when I play.
Good job to all who made such a great effort to help those of us that got stuck. Strange how some had no issues and others did. Maybe cause we are on XP SP3? Not sure if others on different OS had issues.
To bad that the community has to get together to try and fix something broken by an update.
But very glad to see how many come together to help.

Try it one more time.

Uninstall CF first

Step 1. Download the CrossFire Downloader, launch it, and start your download!



Step 2. When you're done, you should have this file.



Step 3. Install CF



Step 4. When your finish, launch CF and it should run straight to HGWC.



If you need any files or help, feel free to PM/reply to this thread.

Remember, the CrossFire installer size should be 1.43 GB and VERSION 1178.

Doof, i'm guessing you didn't bothered to download CrossFire from scratch, it got me there too ^^

I still keep getting thid file to download from Z8 Crossfire. It is 1.32GB. Same one I have been getting since after the last update.
Starburst, I did bother to download from scratch.
What I failed at was that the download folder the setup went to was still on my desktop with the prior one (1171) and it just kept giving me that one.
I just noticed it, deleted the folder and now I am getting the 1.43 (1178) one.
I am getting to old for this crap. I used to be so much better and quick to see little things.
Thanks Starburst. Installing and should be good from here.
