There have been MANY reports from CF and other games(Aeria) you have ran that have claimed they were banned because of other cheats from other games like "Minecraft" cheats. You yourself replied saying that ANY hack will get banned.
That is where your wrong Mr. Jonathon Purvis. We have changed up a lot of our flaws in the past months. We no longer ban for other games cheats. I'm sorry you have been misinformed. You do have my skype, and you may feel free to chat with me, to rectify some of your questions before releasing incorrect information. -

And how is that in any way not bad?
Any person with any sort of a cheat on their computer... Wouldn't that be a valid suspect for even sort of relevant cheating to games in focus?Giggletron wrote: »Wait a second.. a hack is a temporary ban but a "ac violation" is permanent?
Am I missing something here?
Maybe they're didn't compare themselves with Xtrap. -

The people on the banlist from the past and not from the recent ban update will be granted a time limit and update on there ban. This way it is fair to everyone. -

This is a whole other discussion, but what really matters is the intent of the person, not simply whether or not they have cheats. -

Ya good question.
OCG just wants to look at all of your files. Even when the AC isnt running but JUST INSTALLED, it will be looking at the files. These claims are backed up my Evan himself through a Skype call and an anonymous person who used a virtual machine to check the AC. -
btw
im in favor of banning people for having cheats on their system
but saying that you have in-game proof
when there is none possible
and then having a staff member say "i saw how you were playing, i know you cheat"...
when the player in question had been playing for weeks on the AC
quits your staff and gets banned
for a "cheat" being in the "sent files" folder (not running)
surely you must see how ridiculous that seems, Evan?
edit: im guessing ac violation means that they were cheating on client rather than just having cheats on their system -

Flying purple hippos rule the world.
If you want to talk about crap like this, do it in the right place, with the right resources. This isn't it. -

I see nothing wrong with this. Why would you have cheats on your pc anyway if you werent going to use them? -

You apparently don't see the big picture here, it does not matter if someone has cheats on their PC if they aren't using them. The main issue would be cheating while playing matches (which is what the AC is for obviously). Bans handed out for cheats that aren't even being used is just absurd. -
True. There are plenty of repeat offenders.
Read below, you misunderstood me :OGiggletron wrote: »I see nothing wrong with this. Why would you have cheats on your pc anyway if you werent going to use them?
It's not whether you're going to use them that matters, but HOW you're going to use them.
There's nothing morally wrong with taking a speedhack into a private room with a few friends and just having fun breaking the game. While it may be against the ToS of w/e game you're playing, it's not harming anybody. It becomes an issue when you use cheats for an intent like faking skill, that involves other (unaware) people.
The cheaters I'd rather play with are the ones that don't give a crap, because they aren't doing it to try and seem good or to beat anyone, they're doing it because it's fun to see the game do stuff it wasn't supposed to. -

I know exactly what you meant.
In my opinion, having them is as bad as using them. True, the whole issue would be whether or not they were used in a game or not.... but lets be honest... youre not helping yourself if youre accused of cheating and have hacks on your pc... whether you used them or not.[MOD]Denxi wrote: »There's nothing wrong with taking a speedhack into a private room with a few friends and just having fun breaking the game.
Ladies and gentlemen... This post.
If you get banned for doing this, quote this message back. A Moderator says its ok.... -

No matter what the situation, if they weren't cheating in the match, they shouldn't be banned.
This is arguably not the case. What's required is risk assessment. It's very easy to argue that if a player really had the intent of playing competitively, it's up tot he player to be 100% sure their computer is clean, especially if the community is already one that may have a lot of cheaters in it.
What should be done is that each case is taken and looked at individually. That, IMO, is the most accurate way of determining how to react. -

Alrighty Mr. Picky, I'll go specify my terminology. -
Does it say somewhere on the ocg site, "You cannot have any crossfire hack programs on your PC, or you will be banned"
Something in that nature?
All I can find is this: http://ocgaming.org/forums/showthread.php?62-OCG-Anticheat-Download
But Im pretty sure I remember Evan saying the anticheat only scans running processes so..
