VentriloX is down for good. It was dying anyways and had not time to try to keep it alive. And yes JP worked with me and actually Co-Owned VentriloX for a while.ImUndefined wrote: »Just as I post, Ryan posts a minute before I'm done typing...
I'm still crossing my fingers for F4F to come back to life, especially the CF division. I know you threw out my application when you hired your original staff (lol), but I'm still willing to help if need be.
As of now, all the staff except for a few have been fired. We are looking for all willing and able to help. F4F does have a TS server and its posted on the forums. -
Gm saidin is? If so then that's completely trash. Again theres 4000 people watching competitive cf right now. You can't only have 5-6 teams for one tourney. I mean for christ sakes that would be like a draft. How do you give a team a chance when it's so limited.
What I meant by the post you quoted is basically this;
If we hold an open signup for any tournament (with any prize) we will get an incredibly large list of teams who sign up. People inherently don't read the rules, some may not even understand them. So if the signups were open there would be tons of people who just sign up for the sake of signing up. They will probably go afk or drop in the first round, or break some sort of rule which needs to be reviewed.
This is all fine and dandy, but it creates unnecessary work for the people organizing it.
In order to limit these random signups the process must be more complex than just "sign your team here". By implementing rules for the signups (level restrictions, zp etc) we can drastically reduce the number of teams. Not that we want to, but by having these restrictions we can increase more legitimate teams to play.
As was mentioned elsewhere in this thread, if the team wants to play by the rules then there is really no reason not to include them.
To continue with the discussion about times, when we ran things like March of the Ghosts or Autumn Assault, one of the major problems was dealing with clans who said they could play on X day and their opponents said they could play on Y day.
I like the idea that was brought up in this thread about setting up specific match times.
What times do you all believe are the most universal for this kind of thing?
We're also looking in to forcing a confirmation for the tournament via email. I believe this will help legitimize the teams even further. It can also help us build a legitimate email list in order to contact people and teams for future tournaments.
With regards to the F4F stuff, I'm anxious to see if this gets started again as obviously the momentum is in the competitive sides favor with the so-far success of WCG. -
I think if you want to increase competition, should provide an opportunity for entire world, not just clans of America and Canada.
I live in Latin America and I see no competition from Z8Games in us, not inequality.
This Brazil Cross Fire (Cross Fire LA) and is only for Brazilian and us the other countries of the around that? Unfair. -
It should be open to all clans that wish to sign up. Maybe there can be a division for south america (only a few teams will sign up because they won't follow the rules) and maybe like 2-4 divisions for the uk clans. It is great you want to involve everyone. Maybe it will bring out some br clans or mexican clans that are actually nice and not call me a "stupid mini ping"

It hasn't even been a full day yet. Things this big aren't gonna be put together easy. Obviously Saidin wants to hear people out. Give it a week. -

Z8 needs to capitalize on the momentum in a huge way before it dies out. After the interview at WCG with Steven Na it sparked my interest again, and I'm sure many others. -
I've removed some recent posts.
Prizes for a major tournament or event like this, especially in real world money would only be available to certain locations for our version.
This would limit prize distribution to something like NA (Canada, USA) and UK. However I am definitely not confirming or setting this fact in stone.
But there would be limitations.
CF LA (South America) has tournaments and competitions including the WCG playoffs and they are going through the same discussions and setup logistics that we are in trying to get things working.
This also brings up an idea of divisions by locations, and the fact that there are some people who have better pings on the UK servers (if they are from the UK).
What this will end up being is probably multiple tournaments over time to separate some of the people from each different part. Say a separate UK division tournament. Then maybe a NA vs UK final.
Let's try to keep the discussion going without the need for trolling thanks. -

Oh, well then I would like to schedule a meeting with myself, Saidin, some people from smilegate/z8, a panel of experienced competitive players (doop at the very least), and Jason "1" Lake from team Complexity.
If we want to get things moving we need to be more intentional about it. Sure, some posts by the proles on the forums are nice; but for something like this to work out all of the wheels need to be in motion at the same time. -
Not bothering to read the thread so if this has been addressed, too bad.
Last time I checked, Saidin had very little power in regards to what happens with our version of Crossfire. Which is unfortunate, because whoever is actually in charge at G4 box doesn't seem to give two ****s about the competitive part of Crossfire. The guys at Smilegate seem to be a mixed bag, I've heard some awesome things in regards to their plans, and I've heard really crappy things. Maybe they have big dreams but low skill, who knows.
I'd love to see CrossFire do well, I really would. However it's very hard for anything valid to come out of the community.
I'm still waiting for a follow up on what Rex talked to me about, Saidin. It's been over a year. -

As much as people hated WOGL, they got it right with setting a default match time (I believe it was Saturday, 9 P.M. EST). Matches had to be played on or before that time. That system worked well, iirc.[GM]Saidin wrote: »We're also looking in to forcing a confirmation for the tournament via email. I believe this will help legitimize the teams even further. Not a bad idea. It should cut down on a fair amount of spam/troll sign-ups. Unless, of course, someone makes a spam e-mail account and signs up using that... but I doubt most people signing up as a joke would go to that kind of trouble.[GM]Saidin wrote: »With regards to the F4F stuff, I'm anxious to see if this gets started again as obviously the momentum is in the competitive sides favor with the so-far success of WCG.
While our team was knocked out in the first round (poor preparation on my part =X) and I didn't get to see how the rest of it ran, F4F's first tournament went very well as far as I understand. The only problem is that no one really capitalized on the momentum created through that first tournament. -

I Thank You for your support for F4F. We just need to get a lot of real good competitive and serious players to set the ground. Like Ryahn stated before, we are looking for anyone that is mature and serious that would help run the CF division of F4F. -
I can bring back F4F again. But I am not going to go through hoops for trolls and elves. I banned 2 teams because of trolling and I wont tolerate immaturity. This is what caused F4F to not host another tournament for CF.
If F4F does come back, there needs to be some dedicated people to help and most of the old staff has been fired. If you have what it takes to be a division manager, referee, game admin and caster. You can PM me or JP about it.
As for prizes, this will require money. I can see what I can pull together with some other people to get real prizes instead of intangible items.
Suck it up ryan, you baby ;D -Cruelty, your old cf shoutcaster! -
