Brainstorm ways to reduce hackers
So it's come to my attention that sending in replays is next to pointless because the hackers will just make new accounts when they're banned on their old ones.
That being said, if us as players want to have a nearly hack-free game, we need to help z8games figure out a way to get rid of the hackers, but not necessarily banning them. Z8Games staff spend hundreds of hours watching replays since they have no fast forward or rewind buttons either, so watching every replay is just... very boring and not proactive, really.
Don't suggest IP bans, they are already given and do not work because IPs change very often.
An idea I have that won't work:
CD-Keys: Buy a CD-Key for $1 and the amount of hackers will reduce to virtually non-existant, nobody wants to take the time or effort of spending even a dollar on a game just to hack it and possibly get banned. Plus lots of the little kids that hack can't pay over the internet (on the other hand kids could ask their parents to just pay a dollar, it's unlikely they'll do that if they're going to hack that may reduce the amount of players a little bit but they're not supposed to be playing if they're not 13 anyways).
This won't work because having to buy a CD-Key would mean the game is not F2P anymore, and that's what attracts almost everyone to it.
Another idea I have that may work:
Well it's not really my idea, but we should do what korea crossfire does (I'm pretty sure they do it, anyways), we should make it so that every crossfire account has to have a physical address they can determine with their Postal/Zip codes. I don't know how it works and I would think people could just give fake postal/zip codes, but z8games could so more more research and see how it works if that's actually how it works in the korean crossfire.
Don't post tl;dr, that's just spam and should be considered as such.
Please use constructive criticism for any ideas that people post, don't just say "that's a dumb idea", post WHY, and what could make it work, if anything.
I've heard the crossfire community sucks, but try to prove me wrong and don't troll :P

you have 330 posts. i think you more than 'heard' of this community.
Solution: hardware ban if that is possible.
if not, every one gets one/two free accounts. after that, you pay for a new one. how to implement that i, don't know. -
Off topic: So this is your forum name, I often wondered.
On topic: Before we can make a solution to the hacking problem we must first understand why people hack in the first place. The three most common reasons I can think of for a person to hack are.
1. Wants to win no matter what.
2. Thinks or sees alot of other people doing it and does it to even the odds.
3. Just wants to have fun and make people Angry.
Next which group has the highest percent of hackers? In the NA servers its SA players.
So why do so many SA players resort to hacking? The root cause is a mix of there PING and lack of sportsmanship.
A player with 150+ is at a massive disadvantage, They receive game info later then other players and it takes longer to send info. Add to the fact that most of them are children who can't stand losing its no wonder most of them resort to hacking.
Children usually want to win games and high ping makes that hard.
Children don't usually understand how a online games works so can't understand why the players they shoot won't die.
Children are more likely to enjoy making people angry.
So they want to win but are unable too, so they resort to hacking.
They don't understand why other players don't die when it looks like too them they took a whole clip of bullets so they think the other players are hacking, thus use hacks to even the odds.
And any troll will tell you how fun it is too see other players react to any form of trolling.
So with that out of the way, whats the best way to reduce the hacking?
My suggestion would be to make Ping limited servers. -
BR + AZN = Me + Confused.you racist peoplez these days! i am BR!
and im a cool BR, dawg.
A better report system and a better security system will ban MOST of the hackers. Because there will always be hackers in this game, no matter what you do. -
ping limited servers could cause problems because you might spike over the allowed limit so I'm not quite sure how they could get around that, maybe make it so that while you're choosing servers you can only enter the ping-restricted one if your ping is below the maximum at that time.
Another problem would be clans being divided, people with 155 pings wouldnt be able to get on a 150 or less server so if you wanted to play with your clan or friends but your ping is just slightly too high you can't do so (not saying that reason's good enough to disprove the ping-restricted server idea, just saying one problem with it).
Other than those I think ping-restricted servers are the best idea so far. -
AntiAntiLynx wrote: »The first one was intelligent. If u get banned once you need to pay 2 play. 1$.
But who got unfairly banned should make a reclamation or soo.
the problem with that is most hackers just make another account, which is the entire issue. we need to find a way to stop them from making new accounts -

SEARCH BAR.
(Seriosly. How much more insane can forumers be?)
how is searching for old posts that nobody reads anymore a solution? I saw in one of [GM]Saidin's posts he was asking us (the players), if we could figure out a way to reduce the hackers instead of just complaining about it, so that's what I'm trying to help do. Go away troll. -
i have been playing this game for over a year, its hard now to get a proper game without some bloody hack coming in half way and spoiling the game,i honestly don't know the solution but a better security system is needed.i for one will not be spending anymore money on it until something is done.i bet im not the only one cf are losing money.started making a list of hackers this weekend stopped when i got to 30 was just pointless.i know ever game has hacks but cf is getting to the point its unplayable its a shame.
-
Ping cap restriction as most hackers are BR's or Egy's.
Getting the anti-hack that them china guys are using.
Mac address ban.
And: If running faster than normal speed (excluding HM/MM) you get autokicked, if you shoot faster than normal you get auto kicked, if you jump higher than usual (excluding double/triple jump) you get auto kicked and if you shoot a sniper fast you get auto kicked.
Btw, tl;dr -
All they need is an auto-ban hack detecting system. The system automatically kicks and bans people who attach the hacks to the game. It works of course by a flag system and the flag amounts are determined by the owners of the game and security programmers. How it works is the game detects the hack files and flags the account and one the account reaches the flag limit that would be set it would be banned it also kicks them once they log-in so every time they try to log in with there hacks they are kicked and their account is flagged. A lot of games are starting to use these and it is very effective.

hardwear is not too hard to fake.
I have had an idea that i think would be pretty sweet.
the main problem with ALL the current anti hack clients, is that they are all client side, meaning they run on the users computer, and are thus vulnerable to injection as well as alteration or bypassing. no-matter what we do, IP banns, performance measures, EVERYTHING, has one weakness, its all client-side.
my suggestion, would be to get another server, or maybe convert one of the existing servers, (nobody goes on foxtrot right?) to randomly check players for hacks. this wouldn't be like the start-up scan Xtrap does or anything, this would be more along the lines of the in game banning, and other anti hack devices that look at how fast a player is moving, both in terms of their speed, and the speed of their mouse. if you look at a game i used to play called Star-port GE, all of their game is server side processing, and they have 0 hackers.
if the server takes 30 seconds to scan 1 player (really really slow btw) and lets say 1/20 players hack, then every 5 min another player is banned, if the server can scan 1 player every second, then 3 bans a minute will be issued. -

Or we could just have a MOD in each server. That way if someone does hack someone can call the MOD and the MOD will ban. Rex would do it. -

that is a problem on multiple levels, for one, because mods have a life, and second, the best you could do would be like 1 hacker every 15 min, because nubs would call the mod every time someone ownd them. a server is much better, hell, i have an old server laying around, ill donate it if z8 would implement this. -
i know many lieutenants rank hackers, puting a rank requirtment wont help. i used to hack when i was lt colonel
exactly, although high rank players rarely use the more obvious hacks, such as speed hack, or aimbot, i know a lot of high rankers who cham, one hit, wall-hack, and c4 defuse speed up. -
just so you know
its impossible to ban a whole country, there are ways to get around that
its impossible to ban hard-wear, you can change your configurations, and look like someone else
its impossible to have "a program" that sees when people run to fast, or aim to fast, because it is all client side, it can be injected, and attacked.
no anti hacking measure will work for more than 2 weeks without being updated, there are too many vulnerabilities in an client based system. -
I've played a game called AVA, a lot of people may know this game. for 2 weeks or more, i haven't seen one, i mean really, hacker in the game. i think the problem is that the xtrap is not really working, it didn't block user with hacking software, I doubt if it blocks any hack since so many hackers in this game. It is time for another stronger, better anti hack system coming out.

Probably the best idea i've ever seen. Now what would be good is if a GM considers it and replies :P
