Competitive scene in CF is as dead as SF's.

  • I know that picture.

Cute alt you're hiding behind, vermillion is a TOP EU SNIPER and I wouldn't mess with him if I were you.

    nuff salad.
  • I don't know what the standards are in different parts of the world, but where I live - the guy on second picture looks fat, judging by the face.

I have an atlas upstairs if you like.

I hope it's not vermilion. If he's not good-looking, and not an impressive player either - I wouldn't open my mouth as often as he does, if I were him. I know he's still a teenager, but being respectful helps.
    Yin Yang.

The Mentalist is awesome; your insults aren't xD

It was not supposed to be an insult. I just hope the guy on the picture isn't vermilion. If you're not good-looking, and you're not an impressive player either - then why insult others?
It's like a homeless man trying to insult our prospering candidate for a senator - Edward Morra.
Actually, nevermind... the way you look doesn't matter on a gaming forum.

Um. Tae... You know I love you, and I agree with almost everything you've said but... The competitive side of this game literally makes very little difference to it's "life span", I mean, someone like Bobby who actually knows the details can correct me on this if I'm wrong, but leagues make very little difference on the financial success of this game, I mean in order for it to die it would either have to lose its players or lose it's money, and as I said, the competitive scene pulls very little players, and since they're all using league approved gear (Most of them) you know they're not buying ZP.

The COMPETITIVE side of the game is certainly on the verge of dying, but it won't make a dent in CF's traffic or money, most kids just want to run around in pubs with rabbit ears and angel wings and throw grenades that make weird sounds and have trippy animations, you don't see those kids joining leagues.

All the developers and the decision makers for the game are based out of Korea if I'm not mistaken, and the market there (as it's been said already) is much larger than NA.

I may be wrong with some of the things I've said but you get my point... I hope.

He assumed everyone knew he was talking about the part that mattered here.

VERY TRUE; And not only myself can vouch for this, but long time CS players can as well. I know a couple CS players [here in CF] that have been playing long enough to see how many CS leagues CRUMBLED due to financial issues; WSVG, CPL, etc... Financially it's not easy to maintain a league and prizes. WOGL is fortunate enough to have G4Box's understanding and aid in providing the cash. Take that into consideration competitive players when complaining about S&D maps. Those silly masks, weapons and MM maps are highly popular and PAID. If it takes feeding the majority to feed your pockets, UNDERSTAND.

On a side note: There's absolutely no reason why the competitive side can't be marketed appropriately. One or two mediocre sponsors and there's your current purse payout. Now your sitting here with $1,500 USD in pocket for further investment and/or greater the purse. On my side, I would invest that $1,500 into a quarterly PR fee and have my brand and venture better represented and EPK's distributed in the proper placings. You'd be SURPRISED how many companies would pay up for a stamp, or logo on this game. Whether it be in-game, replacing the silly billboards and flyers, or on ad's around the website and forums. A tiny press logo can score you hundreds/month. I won't mention other titles, but if you take a look around....there's Razer, Mountain Dew, AMD and NOS sponsorships in other branches of Cross Fire. Of coarse your not going to hit the mine first swing, but attacking the appropriate marketing and advertising plan is Step #1; You can have both a casual EPK and Competitive EPK. Something I started working on with another league admin for Cross Fire. So hopefully they hit a couple perks for the sake of this community, because they're the shining hope for you guys...

It's ultimately going to come down to HOW INVESTED are all parties in the competitive community as to the speed in which it all collapses or withers away. How serious is G4Box Inc. in expanding the competitive side? How eager is WOGL in growing upon their current Cross Fire status? How determined is ESL/NESL in stabilizing their individual presence? It's more than monitoring matches and writing rules; Its more than posting announcements on their own forum and offering irrelevant prizes. KNOW your market. KNOW it's top and bottom [how far it CAN go; How low it can go]. Move forward from there...

So BUNK that 'this community is trash' bullish [coming from a bunch of 16 yr old children who can't manage to organize their rooms, apposed to organizing a serious view on a business]. Counter-Strike has just as much trash and remains to have a chokehold on eSports and not going anywhere, anytime soon. Tekken players are INTENSELY horrid. Warcraft players are probably the closest to CF. Look at your hosting parties...THEY ARE THE ANSWER. THEY determine when all of this goes away...THEY DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THIS IS THE END. Players don't kill a game [competitive scene]. The game and associated parties kill the game [competitive scene].

I like you. In a no **** sort of way.
  • The only real problem I have with the competitive scene in CF is it feels like most of the teams have given up. Being a CS player who transferred over for WCG, I've noticed a lack of I guess enthusiasm would be the word.. From what I gather a lot of teams don't even bother trying to improve because they have this mindset drilled into their head that "Oh we'll never beat LL or LPK." I'm sorry but I've been playing this game for just over a month & the fact that we can compete with the top teams while teams that have been at this game for years have stopped trying to improve is just pathetic.. Right now I think on a day-to-day basis we only have the chance to play a handful of teams we get REAL practice that we can learn from. (5 I think) Which makes me really sad.. I was really hoping the competitive scene would be more alive in this game from CS.. But its just like being back in CS where you only get to play the same teams over and over..

Edit: Sorry almost forgot.. That would of been a tragedy..

that's because you transferred over from another game and playing a new game is always exciting. those of us who have played for a year+ realize that it's the same sh1t over and over. Teams do get better in time. In fact if you were to join CF a year ago you would see that the only team that could do anything worthwhile was LL. now it's more of a level field... teams are starting to win out, people who have been here for a while are getting bored of this game. tbh if it weren't for my graphics card crashing on me, i would be playing css right now, imo a much better game.

the fact that you just joined this game and started practicing and can compete with the "top dogs" doesn't say much because it was like that for most players within the competitive scene. Hell i joined paradox/momentum on my first week touching this game(not counting the month i played in march of 09) and they were considered top 5 or so at that moment.

many teams break up due to inactivity/having a cheater/failing in scrims. They don't have the mindset that if they put some time and energy into practicing that they will in-evidently get better at the game and as a team
