Competitive scene in CF is as dead as SF's.

peoples bypassing clients dosnt suprise me, i have seing my share of peoples playing on client but showing all the signs of togling. im not gonna point fingers.
and another reason the competetiveness is failing. a huge amount of e8 players cheat. i find a blatant player in a scrim atleast once a day. i even saw a player from a realy "good" team acidently turning hes one shot kill hack on me. ( he one shoted me trough a box with a m4 body shot...) right after he left the room, and rejoined and din't do a one shot again. just to show a lot of "competitive" players may or may not cham in scrim, but they defenitivly got their hacks ready for when they need it. -
the community makes or breaks the competitive scene
the reason the competitive scene is in the situation it is now is solely the fault of the people who play the game, no one else.
^^ that.
Bobby makes a good point. But heres another angle. Why try to market a game with the problems it has. Your just opening it up to being criticized to even more public view. Until the hacker situation is taken care of( or even a little better than it is now) its just going to bring more of a problem. I dont care what anyone says...I find hackers ALL day. Just about every room I go in has one. And Im not saying possible wallers or 1 hits.....obvious obvious hacks of all ranks. They just dont give a crap. In their minds, they think they wont get banned and I'd say they are 75% correct in thinking that. Just my opinion on that. -

There's hackers in every game. Even in the top competitive games on all platforms. Hacking will never be stopped. Rather work to prevent it and monitor it than anything else. There's just as many hackers in the Chinese version of Cross Fire believe it or not. That competitive scene still thrives. And they've got some KILLER sponsors. They didn't get their sponsors because of the community. Correct MARKETING is the key to succeeding with ANY product.... -
This game CAN grow, even in the state that its in. Example, an FPS-game that I won't name, even with all of its gaming code bugs / errors, just landed onto Steam's platform. They now have access to 30 million steam users. Every game is going to have its ups and downs, and Bobby has a huge point. Marketing is the key to any online game, especially for the competitive aspects. You're not going to attract new players without going after the market that you want to play the game.

i dont feel it, but i really havent played any other fps on the pc before
It's extremely bad, if you were to play say 1.6 for a few days without touching CF then play it you would notice a massive difference. At least that's how it is for me. -

Yup. CSS and CS 1.6 are mad slow like on the mouse and it is better for gameplay. I really liked how smooth the crosshairs of the awp were and I wished this game wasnt so jumpy. -
I don't know why people are complaining about hackers and the such, considering cheaters who cheat outside of the league (i.e pubs) don't affect the competetive community. I guess just fix the client(s) or get more staff to efficiently monitor the leagues.
On the topic of people complaining about 'pre-teen virgins/minors' etc, don't be so general. It's not age that determines someone's maturity or respect, it's more of how they grew up. On that subject, most of the teenagers these days (me being excluded ofc) show a diminished level of simple respect and curtisy, not only in CF, but in the real world. People just simply don't care, they stay in their little worlds where nothing matters but their wants and needs. I'm not trying to sound like I'm older then 16, but growing up in a strict house I've picked up the same views as my parents, and you can see these things everywhere if you only open your eyes.
But basically, it's not all those 14-17 year olds that are ruinning the community as some have said, but its multiple individuals or groups of people that slander our community. It seems to me that the negativity of a few, has rubbed off on many. I guess in all, our community just lacks general modesty, humility and respect.
I'm not really sure what my point was, this just came into my head while reading. Also in no way am i excluding myself from ^ -

you probably don't even know how to turn off acceleration in cs -
Your a troll.
Who would care about your amazingly stupid opinion? Your posts are never grammatically correct, you're oblivious when it comes to competitive play and judging by that, I can safely assume that you're a horrid player. If I got an offer from eotL the day before roster lock, I'd rather not play WOGL.

It all takes time though, without a wide player-base of demands, a league can't fine-tune it's rules/regulations perfectly. Also, the league that Z8 sponsors as it's tournament-host needs to be one that CAN and WILL respond to the playerbase. Leagues need to be run by people with the right type of attitude, I realize that many members of these leagues volunteer. There are so many people that just enjoy the "power" of being league-staff, I think we've all seen ex-admins publishing forum-books about their thoughts on this community.
I think ESL is big competition for WOGL, but a few things need to happen for either of them before any players can honestly say one is better than the other:
1) Recruit staff that wants to help players in the league, not dictate to them.
2) Re-shape the league-rules base on input from the community but know that it's ever-changing.
3) Respond to your players! It's tricky since most staff are volunteers, but it's the most important thing the staff can do to help the league. It makes the difference between people playing a league for the prize or playing the league because it's GOOD.
4) Maintain momentum, if the league can continue to improve itself, even when everything seems perfect, there will be so many doors open for them.
5ish) Condition ESL-Wire as needed, anti-cheats take time and money so they can never be perfect, but measured improvements are necessary to establish permanency as a league, should the league progress to that stage.
What makes a league aren't the rules, those change, prizes come and go, but the people that run the leagues will make or break them.
TL;DR - Game will not die soon, bad/outdated competitive leagues will if they do not reformat. -

Leagues are what is keeping this game hanging on a thread. Let's be realistic here and tell me what are the real things you can actually do in this game other than practicing for league matches via scrims. When leagues die in this game, no good player will want to play it anymore. The game will be dead and we will have BRs taking over. Have you not notice that the competitive side of this game had comsisted the same players from the past couple of years? Every top player right now had been a top notch player in this game for a long time. We have some players from other games for WCG but what if WCG decodes to drop NA next year? Do you honestly think anyone will still play this game because if you do you're by far the most naive person on this planet. No one will stay in a game to not achieve anything, if leagues die then people will play new games and play competitively sooner or later. Thus game is dying, it is in the emergency room. Leagues are it's soul, if leagues die this game will just be a plant. Being a plant is just as good as being dead.
Players in this game has no morals, they do almost everything to win in a free game. Leagues don't operate by the admins only, but the community. With the community being complete trash(including myself, I absolutely admit that I make oblivious threads), there is no way a league can function. Unless if miracle happens and players hit an epiphany to understand they are absolutely stupid and actually get educated, this game will not continue long enough. People say age does not matter but in CF, we can clearly see the differences between adults and children. Intellectuals in this forums can be counted with two hands at max(not naming names, but I think most people already know who they are). There is no way a 12 year old in this game can process things as mature as someone of my age group + can. This is not meant to insult anyone but age often equates to experience. As you get older you understand things faster, thinks ina much more mature manner and make less mistakes. This community evidently lacks this. -

If it exists as competition, there are leagues of it.
Internet rule I modified.
Besides, Tae, if something you cared about was bleeding out, would you sit there and say "Oh my God, you're dying!" Or try to help them.
There are actually tons of new players to the competitive scene, they just aren't part of it yet, simply because clan-egos are too large to pick them up. That's something LL.ext was created to help with, but they are failing to follow through because they are mainly just recruiting those old vets, but it's not their responsibility alone.
We need to see new talent grow a pair and advertise themselves, and we need to give them our attention instead programming our responses in refusal. -

Constructive feedback.
If someone is shot towards their heart, there is nothing you can do to save it. There is close to no chance in saving the compeitive scene in this community. The possibility of the teens in this community finally realizing how stupid they are before the leagues die is really low. So what if the league makes strict rules? As I have said this game has people of such low morals that they will bypass a ban. You are banned for a reason, suck it up and don't give this game a bad rep. You just cannot depend on a community of young teens to be responsible. It is like leaving a jar with only one cookie open in a daycare, if the caretaker leave the room the children will just grab the cookie regardless whether if it is the last cookie they will ever get. -

Once again, your solutions to save this community are naive. New players either get influenced by other player's excessive ego or just quit the game. This is a trend, this is the way how humans work. They are easily influenced. If you are able to get immature children on this forum to unite together and be mature, I will get on my knees and call you the moses of crossfire. -

No league in this game has strict rules, that wouldn't work anyway. It really just takes patience. I'm willing to accept anyone as part of the community as long as they can do the same for me, with respect and friendliness, even if it's only superficial. And even middle-school girls understand how to be superficially-nice. And if someone wants to rage and cheat, that's cool, but when they slip up they can go chill with kaycee and tastylimes, no longer part of the community.taeyeoNNNNNN wrote: »Once again, your solutions to save this community are naive. As sweet as that would be, it's not necessary. New players are easily influenced, and one person at a time, it's possible to make that influence a good one. If it happens, and if it continues, eventually those little kiddies will be outnumbered and either quit or be the minority, socially at least. I've seen it enough times to know it to be true. -
Um. Tae... You know I love you, and I agree with almost everything you've said but... The competitive side of this game literally makes very little difference to it's "life span", I mean, someone like Bobby who actually knows the details can correct me on this if I'm wrong, but leagues make very little difference on the financial success of this game, I mean in order for it to die it would either have to lose its players or lose it's money, and as I said, the competitive scene pulls very little players, and since they're all using league approved gear (Most of them) you know they're not buying ZP.
The COMPETITIVE side of the game is certainly on the verge of dying, but it won't make a dent in CF's traffic or money, most kids just want to run around in pubs with rabbit ears and angel wings and throw grenades that make weird sounds and have trippy animations, you don't see those kids joining leagues.
All the developers and the decision makers for the game are based out of Korea if I'm not mistaken, and the market there (as it's been said already) is much larger than NA.
I may be wrong with some of the things I've said but you get my point... I hope. -
