Competitive scene in CF is as dead as SF's.

This game is already dying, even with WCG on the way. IMO, WCG might not even pick NA up next year due to the lpw amount of competition that this game provides. Every top team list you only see 2-4 teams that actually earned their spots on that list. The results had been the same the past few years, it was either LL or LPK that is giving each other competitions and since LPK is going to play in the American qualifier, their only real competition will be [dws] and HSW. In the case of CA WCG, LL does not have a team that can showcase their true strength. Minty was a great asset to the team but with WCG seperating US and CA, Lifeline will be a far weaker team than expected but even then their only competition will be C2. This is only the WCG aspect.

The leagues of this game had lost their credibility ever since kc had admitted bypassing their AC with ease. With that said, you will not know how many players are actually cheating in these leagues. Whats worse is that WCG ha absolutely no anti-cheat. This community is evidently filled with what some categorizes as 'pre-teens', so their honesty is going to be in question. It is possible that in the upcoming qualifiers, there will be multiple teams that will use 3rd party programs to go to the US LAN qualifier. So what of they get destroyed in the qualifier to South Korea? As amateurs all they will do is brag about how they have acheived something in CF by making it to the final US qualifier.

Another thing that raises my awareness to how good the competitive scene is, will be the league bans. I am not naming names on this thread but there is one player who is blatantly bypassing league bans in WOGL-O. When I inform a WOGL admin about it they require me to log a ticket. If WOGL really cares about people who are getting around league bans then they will get on the case right away and not have me take my time logging a ticket to help you do work. I have complained about that team for using illegal players multiple times already but nothing had been done. I am not going to log a ticket for something that should have been done a while ago. I don't play the league at all, it is not my responsibility but WOGL admin's duty.

My rant ends here for I am tired and will be heading back to sleep. Tried to make it as comprehendable as possible, but you can only do so much when typing on a phone.

tldr; game will die soon.

  • although i'm not really in to the competitive side of this game, i agree with you 100%
  • I understand where your coming from. Thats why we do things a littler differently. I make sure that myself and my admins are able to be contacted easily. Yes that person did get around it, but I did know it from day one. Reasons on why or how I handled that, I wont explain for obvious reasons. I will tell you this though. I find a team that has 1 person bypassing....that whole team is gone....permanently. As a team leader it is your responsibility to make sure you follow the rules. We are not here to babysit everyone.

I was not actually talking about ESL. In fact, ESL is one of the better leagues but the prizes are not as appealing. Reason why WOGL will never be on par with ESL is because of experience and professionalism. ESL actually have adults running it. Fix ESL wire and get better prizes, then people will probably choose ESL over WOGL.

Oh, I know you werent talking about us directly. I just wanted to post my thoughts on it. I agree with you, this whole competitive scene needs work.

As far as prizes go. This season prizes were out of my control. However, I am working very hard to get a very attractive set of prizes for season 2 and its looking good.
Wire, we are working with them to get it working right. The main thing seams to be a memory error with xtrap, but it cant really be duplicated on every platform. I have people with xp SP2 that run it just fine.

Very nice read. I'm not a WOGL Admin and I'll keep my opinion out of how they run their league because I understand the work that is required to work with this community and to do the administrative part of it. Now, I will say that they don't really work with the community. (They Have Their Reasons & That is Fine but I Like Having Somebody to Talk To:) ) Also, I think they are understaffed. I think Kayne, (VP of WOGL I THINK :D) does a majority of the work along with Sathy AKA Ace. I say this as a participation member of their league, not because I'm an ESL Admin. Iceman pretty much said it all when it came to ESL :D

    -_- Coming from WOGL Admin ^^ :)
  • the community makes or breaks the competitive scene

the reason the competitive scene is in the situation it is now is solely the fault of the people who play the game, no one else.
  • While I agree with you 100% that the competitiveness of this game deeply needs help, I fail to see why you come to the conclusion that this game will die soon.

People have been saying for a long time the game would die off, but it hasn't. The game has far more players than people think and I just don't see it going anywhere.

The reason "The Known Ones" on the forums think the game is dying is because people only post about the negatives. People don't go on the forums regularly and say "My support ticket got answered", however, we regularly do get the phrase "My support ticket did not get answered yet." It's been said various amounts of time by the staff that this forum has no where near the amount of people that are actually in game.

Like I said, I do agree the competitive side of this game does need work, I'm sure most people will agree with that, except for some ignorant members. But I do not see this game dying any time soon.

I also agree with doop on the post above, not all of it is the league or Z8Games Staff's fault. This community is very lacking in maturity, and just does not help very well when it comes to the competitive scene.

the game will not die soon, the "competitive" aspect has the possibility to die. once the leagues leave it's hard to attract them back. i've already watched this process in another game. the players are probably as skilled or even more skilled than when the last league left, but there is nearly 0 competition

I understand where you come from with that, and again, I agree the competitive scene has a possibility to die, however in the end of his post he states "the game" and not the competitive side, which is why I made my point there.
  • As far as im concerned, WOGL-EU staff is pretty close to the EU community. Maybe it works better because we have smaller numbers, but i dont think there is or will be a team in Europe that doesnt know and talk regularly to either me, Aenaes or Mart.

Ill stick with my position though, fire all WOGL Admins.

There is a signature for reason :)

to competitive players there is no game outside competitions. once the competitions leave the game is considered "dead", regardless if masses of people still play it or not

Agreed. No one should be complaining about the competitive scene when we have muddied the water for further leagues. The community is awful and the people that think it's not, are crazy. I really hope CF doesnt turn into Soldier Front. Hackers in every lobby you join, no matter what, and no competitive scene whatsoever.

then you never played it competitively

all f2p are gonna have their bad sides, yes but thats how games work, not everygame is gonna satisfy everyone's needs.

Atleast they didn't have foreigners running around shouting hack everytime they got killed.

Never touched SF. Didnt hear about it til it was dead, and your right, at least the foreigners don't scream hack everytime they die when they are using their scar light and spop spraying to hell at a wall.

so how can you critize it, even though you never touched it?

gameplays from yTube does not tell the whole story yaknow.

Your right, that guy probably would. Just making a general statement there's always going to be great players, and that guy seems to be one of them.

I played it a couple times on my buddy's account when i was in Paradox and he let me borrow it for a couple days and I can say i wasnt attracted to it whatsoever. Competitively or just pubbing. I dont consider me playing a couple pubs me touching it though. In my opinion I thought that game wasnt good... But, I never played it competitively.

Yea... Z8 should pull a Combat Arms..
  • funny how tae is talking about competitive scene when he never joined a league or cup..
all he does is brag about lol and idknowwhy since hes awful at it..

now on topic, ofc competitive scene is not as active as before.
now if you find 5's theres at least 2 ringers and they are allways saying that they dont try lalalalala. when that wasted time could of been used to pratice strats.
