Loading time hugely extended after patch
Comments
-
I have a Dual Boot System with Dual Core CPU @3.2 GHz, and 1 GB DDR RAM. So far on XP it loads really slow, and I've notcied the game doesnt take full advantage of both cores. However, in Windows 7 it works flawlessly.
As for loading time, with the new xfire gametime logging patch, you can just run the game windowed and have xfire closed before logging on CF. It'll just speed it up by ~7 seconds.
I've noticed that in loading CF, it uses more RAM than if you were actually in the server lobby or playing in a room. It uses 2 times more the RAM at login, so speed this up you need a faster CPU.
I've tested the login difference on a laptop running windows 7 with 1 GB of RAM and a 1.6 GHz CPU, and on my PC running 1 GB of RAM with CPU @ 3.2 GHz. The laptop takes about a minute more than on my faster computer, when loading the CF App. -
Some of us have fast computers with 4 gb ram and i7 cpu.
I want to see 1 person that has this setup and cant play this game. There is no way a i7 and 4 gigs of memory cant play this game. The only people I see that are having problems, are the ones with 1 gig or less memory. Or they have a crap CPU.
Where you guys playing when we had a patch that cause everyone to get more FPS?
That was due to the fact that they changed the type font. So adding content to the game can have a big affect on the game........ As this patch did... And yeah you are right I know nothing about computers.... So did you do the simple test with the Windows Task Manager .... aww duh No.. -
i tried to provide possible solutions , however you JihadJet are off-topic and insulting, please refrain from this thread if all you do is criticize.
I guess you havnt been following me then. Go to the start and read. I try and help these guys all they do is insult me. They will not try anything you share. Only 2 did add more memory and both are playing again...... So yeah -
Ok. So I did some test for you guys. Test were done with 4gigs and 2gigs of Ram
First 4 gigs of Ram:
Sec.to load/ map / players / server / Ram % used
7sec. Ship 12 Alph 7 32% Ram
9 sec. BW 10 Alph 7 29% Ram
8 sec. MM Port 10 Alph 7 26% Ram
Second 2 gigs of Ram:
9 sec. Ship 10 Alph 7 57% Ram
12 sec. BW 14 Alph 7 62% Ram
11 sec. MM Port 12 Alph 7 56% Ram
Now all test were done with a stop watch, a G15 keyboard that shows CPU %
and RAM % ,Windows XP, I didnt record CPU usage because they all were about the same.
Test started when the Join Game button was hit.
When join was hit I did notice a black screen just before the game loading screen appears.
But when 2 gigs were used the black screen time increase, from just seen to 1 to 3 sec.
3 sec. time being BW map. I will test 1024 MB Ram tomorrow as I do have 2, 512 sticks of Ram.
To late to do now as I will have to swap out the Ram. Hope this helps? So finishing test, test 1024MB RAm and 512MB Ram
First 1024MB of Ram:
Sec.to load/ map / players / server / Ram % used
13 sec. Ship 13 Alph 7 90% Ram
14 sec. BW 16 Alph 7 88% Ram
34 sec. MM Zone13 10 Alph 7 91% Ram
Second 512MB of Ram:
5 min. Ship 8 Alph 7 99% Ram crash
2 min. BW 16 Alph 7 99% Ram
3 min. MM Zone13 12 Alph 7 99% Ram
There you have it. All had black screen loading. Ship crashed back to lobby.
BW loading black screen with 5 sec. of loading screen froze, playing was
crap. MM ZONE13 same as BW. So in my case its A Memory problem, could be many things, but as I said before. Bet its a Ram problem with all the new content added to game. Take it for what its worth. Do youre own test. Dont juust wait for someone to fix it for you. Would be nice if someone else could do the same test as I did...
And I would like to add I did alot of test trying to help.... just to get more insults.. -
FIX THE LOADING GLITCH........
It's ANNOYING LIKE THIS....
I have read almost all 26 pages of this thread. There are about 2 useful posts.
Here are some facts:
This problem doesn't exist for everyone else playing the game.
Without technical specs on pc's we can't even begin to trouble shoot this problem.
If it's an actual game code issue Z8Games (G4Box) likely can help with workarounds but we are not in charge of "fixing" the issue.
We have tested this on XP, Vista and Windows 7 machines of various configurations both on clean installs of the OS and on 'used' computers. So far we have not been able to replicate this issue.
This issue has been reported to the developers.
Low_FPS has not provided any useful information in any of his posts except "fix it".
People without this problem are more helpful to working towards a solution than people with this problem. -

It should be noted that our first assumption on this issue is due to low spec RAM problems.
512 is currently listed as the minimum requirements to play Cross Fire, however we are in the process of reevaluating this in light of Zombie Mode. -
my computer kind sucks...... accept..... well.. I mean it's good... but... not good... at the same time... if you know what I mean.... I've posted my PC specs.. in a other thread, where [GM] Saidin, asked for information.. and here it goes again.. (I have this issue all time of day.. accept at night.. Cause I don't play at night)
AMD Sempron(tm) Processor
3400+ (what ever that means doesn't say anything after that)
1.79 GHz
448 MB of Ram
and thats all it currently says.. cause I'm saving for other things..
P.S don't laugh at my computer..... just cause it's not the greatest. -

your ram is insufficient, you can easily upgrade and solve this problem with 15-25 dollars. Not to mention it will increase the performance of your computer if you don't want to drop money on a new computer for a cheap price. -

well, my computer runs combat arms fine. just not crossfire, crossfire loads fine. just the games, I also think that cf does have a glitch as GM saidin said, "it's been sent to the developers.".. (my computer is like super clean) I defrag 8 times a day.. I was also saving that 15 - 25 dollars for a car.. :P -

As you see with less memory I was able to show that this is the problem, But as you see in all the post all I get in return is insults.

Zombie Mode is a heavier mode on your pc (ram as well). The fact that your ram does not even meet the minimum requirements we listed on our website is going to be an obvious cause of your problems. And proof that a whole bunch of "bump" and "fix it" posts were not necessary.

These tests did help, and I saw them in the other thread. Thanks for that. -

what else do I play? I had a lot of guns..
my clan wanted me to be able to get on.... (btw @saidin: do you hate me now? lol ) -

Saidin, I have 2 GB of RAM, and it took 2-3 minutes to load for me for a while. I re-installed the game, re-booted my computer, made sure the RAM was installed right, and then it works fine now. Although before I upgraded my RAM, all modes were loading slow, not just Zombie Mode. -

Oh yeah! it's slow on all modes -
RequiemZero wrote: »I thinks it a RAM issue mixed with Windows errors.
It is. the loading time went back to normal after I added 1GB more RAM now 1.4 GB. My Fps literally doubled. BUT, I still have this one all computers, just that now its faster. Still a problem though. But Z8 doesn't give a sh_t anyways.
