  • No way .... You think it may be Memory problems ? No way.....
    Where did I hear this????????
  • It is. the loading time went back to normal after I added 1GB more RAM now 1.4 GB. My Fps literally doubled. BUT, I still have this one all computers, just that now its faster. Still a problem though. But Z8 doesn't give a sh_t anyways.

NO! It can't be! I don't wanna have to find another game!
  • yes, it is a ram problem but its also a coding or xtrap problem because i play on another server which has ZM aswell and i do not have this problem there

Yeah I know Bro, I was saying this the day after the patch. But what do I know????
  • I just hope the random in-game freezings when someone joins will have a real solution..

Zombie Mode is a heavier mode on your pc (ram as well). The fact that your ram does not even meet the minimum requirements we listed on our website is going to be an obvious cause of your problems. And proof that a whole bunch of "bump" and "fix it" posts were not necessary.

zombie mode is not the problem mister saidin...crossfire vietnam does not have this mode but it have the black screen means its not because of this zombie mode
  • So, maybe I'll free my CPU up some more..

Hey, hey.. You where, moronic failtroll. I said it's RAM, as well as Windows issues. I was running fine on the minimum RAM required for the game before the patch. Then, the patch came. It might have messed up a registry key for Cross Fire, or it might have just been bad timing for all of us. Some part of Windows got messed up.
  • If this is really the issue, then I guess z8 is gonna lose a good amount of customers...
  • Saidin, I have 2 GB of RAM, and it took 2-3 minutes to load for me for a while. I re-installed the game, re-booted my computer, made sure the RAM was installed right, and then it works fine now. Although before I upgraded my RAM, all modes were loading slow, not just Zombie Mode.

We have tested on clean installs of Windows XP, Vista and 7 using RAM variants of 1 gig, 2 gig and 4 gig.

All of them work fine. Though the 1 gig computer was definitely slow.

To those who are worried they have to "stop" playing Cross Fire. If you were playing with below 512 MB of RAM then there isn't much we're going to be able to do. The minimum listed requirements right now is 512 megabytes of RAM. Whether or not you were able to play it before or after does not change that you should have had 512MB RAM in the first place.

definetly true for 1 Gig, but I would like to point out something. If you have a PC with RAM above 512 MB, you should use Windows 7 OS as it performs better with the game, and to avoid memory/page faults (which causes a lot of HDD thrashing) with the game you should hook up another HDD to your computer (preferrably one that is as fast or faster than your current HDD) and partition the first 5 GB of the drive to use as your SWAP or PageFile for the running Operating System.

My Computer is using this same method to avoid HDD thrashing and at the same time to have Cross Fire swap in and out of memory faster, even though I have 1 GB of RAM; but it runs perfectly.

Sure sure.... Mind giving me the OS disc and a coupon to buy an HDD?
  • well the HDD i found from a spare parts computer-room at my university, but the disc can be found pirated on torrent sites.

See that folks? Nothing we can do but to upgrade your RAM. I did loads faster now, but still goes into black screen.

What you fail to know is I was right from day 1. And I didnt have a problem at all playing the game. I was only trying to help. And all you and others could do is call me names. Telling me In stupid its the game not our memory. If this is the way you treat someone who is trying to help. Then maybe you shouldnt have post in the first place. I spent 2 hours doing test for you guys. I proved it was a memory problem and you still call names.. Growup kid, learn how to trouble shoot your computer yourself Computer Genius....
  • You can buy 2 GB memory for 24.00 bucks.........

I think I'll find a different game then...

What I did to fix, was I completely re-installed Windows XP, using a brand new disc. Afterwards, I re-installed my anti-virus, set the entire Z8 Games folder to an exception. Anything that wants access from that folder can do whatever it wants.

Next, re-download and re-install Cross Fire. DO NOT PUT ANY MODS IN! The standard Cross Fire, that's it. Run the game, after opening the Task Manager and closing ALL non-vital system processes.

I did this, and tried it with my 512 MB of RAM, and it lowered loading time to about, 1-1:1/2 minutes. With my 2 GB of RAM, it's back to loading in less than 10 seconds. I've only tested this on Windows XP, because it's the only OS I have a disc for. Will test with others if I can find a place to get the discs for free.

When you tried the 512mb ram one were you on low settings?
  • When you tried the 512mb ram one were you on low settings?

Yes. I always run on lowest quality setting to maximize my FPS.

Been doing that for a while...

And even with all that, you need more than 1GB RAM... that's really all I neeeded to know to find a different game..

If you need a new disc, go to any computer store. You can buy a new installation disc for XP really cheap, seeing as how they no longer support it, and aren't updating it.
  • KK i'm going to try to re-install my windows xp and re-install crossfire and try it.
