Where has the respect gone?
Start rant:
Whether in-game or in the forums I have noticed that there is a lack of common respect for users/teams. Yes I know, old news is so exciting. Obvious is obvious, etc. etc. etc. But for real, why is there such a disregard for SIMPLE respect of each other? I honestly don't want to hear the, "this game is full of 12-15 year old people, there is no respect". I think I have met plenty of you that can hold a decent amount of respect for other users and you're not all 18. Some people blame the current state of this community on a particular race of people and their troubles. Sure, everyone has their part in this community so they are just as much a part of it as we are.
However, everyone is accountable for their actions. Even a 12-15 year old can decipher the difference between blatant disrespect and common courtesy. I can cite examples from public games in Echo 8. Just sit back and watch the conversations that go on in those rooms every once in a while. "You're bad. Get off" "QQ noob you need to learn to play" "Stop whining you baby. Get good" "You're bad. No, you're bad. I'm the best" There are others that I do not wish to get into, but you all can relate to what can and has been said in such games.
Is this what it has come down to? Arguing amongst each other in public games over who's bad? Over who's better? Over who's smarter? Over who's team can beat another team? Over who can insult someone better than the other person? What happened to common courtesy? Common respect amongst fellow players? Public games used to be about fun and enjoying yourself. Don't get on to me about a race ruining public games. It's not about that.
The forums are just as disrespectful or worse than in-game. Some people just simply have a blatant disrespect for the rules. Don't cite excuses that the Moderators don't enforce the rules. A community should be able to use common sense to know what is right and what is obviously wrong. Moderators shouldn't have to be closing/deleting threads 5,6,7,8 times a day. That's our fault. Even some of you who aren't 12 years old go around spouting off who's bad and who's an idiot and who's this and who's that, causing flame wars and unhealthy arguments.
This community should be about positive growth. Positive doesn't mean insulting someone for suggesting an idea, no matter how good or bad the idea. Encourage them to try again. Positive doesn't mean arguing over POINTLESS debates that do nothing to help this community. Try starting a discussion thread that will lead to healthy discussion about improving this community or ideas that are realistic. Positive doesn't mean starting 100 threads about the problems with this game. Believe me, the management is well aware of the problems without 100 threads to tell them. I'm sure they got it the first time.
Sure, you may say I expect too much of this community. That I give the potential of this community too much credit. Fine. Flame me. Insult me. Call my thread pointless. You will simply prove my points here today. This community won't grow without our help. The GM's and Moderators can't do it by themselves. Sure they can do a big part through enforcement, interaction, etc. but they can't do it alone. Try looking at your own actions on a day-to-day basis. Some of you simply don't care and I suppose this won't apply to you then. All I'm asking is to take a step back and realize that this game is not all about who can't play well or who can. Sure, there is a competitive side of the game and competition is always healthy. But, there should be a certain amount of respect given to each other that will promote growth and take steps forward not backward.
Your sarcastic comments and negativity, if any, will have no effect on me. So feel free to have at it. Like I said before, you will only prove my points here today about the lack of common respect between users in this community.
End rant.

I was gonna say "12 year olds...blah blah..." lol
But the competitive players sort of have the fault. Calling everyone that wasn't competitive bad and told them they were trash.
We also have people who disrespect you for just being someone.
Ex...Brazilians.
They dont respect us, therefore we dont respect them, since they call us gringos and kick us just because of it.
1 year ago this game was WOW. Thats all I can say...but since the company got greedy...sigh...went to crap.
If you're annoyed by this hang out with the forumers when they make a room. Its usually filled with fun people.
Btw I respect you and Im sure everyone else does. You = Epic.

That is the competitive community for ya. you guys wanted it and you got what came with it too. (Disrespect)
It's not just the competitive community though. Even common players do the same thing as competitive players do. You're bad, no you're bad. My team is better, no my team is better. It happens with non-competitive players/teams as well. Everyone is at fault. The general lack of respect needs to change. This community, the forum community, would be MUCH better off if that were to change.
You are still accountable for YOUR actions. Whether or not they treat you like that is irrelevant to how you treat them. The "eye for an eye" mentality doesn't promote growth. Sure it's VERY annoying to get kicked and called bad names. Just shrug it off. Know that YOU are a BETTER person than them for not doing the same thing. That is what I would call respect.L0LSmilyFace wrote: »They dont respect us, therefore we dont respect them, since they call us gringos and kick us just because of it. -
I agree, but some people can get more srsbsns than others, have a bigger temper, get mad at BS shots, or getting owned and trashtalked by a lower rank.
I was trying to be a rush-sniper in Ship, and a PFC called me a "fail LT".
Who wouldn't get mad? I took my AK out halfway through and got 2 less of his score at the end, when I had 6 at the halfway point.
There's always going to be people wanting to start things. You can't ask them to stop, because people can be ****** bags just because they're born that way. There is no possible way I can see to fix a bad community, because it's the people's fault.
Also in Echo 8, there could be bad blood against the teams/clan, so the person may go after the opposing other. Like when I see a person from the clan "_September11" I go after them. To be memorial, or not, I go after them. It's a d*ck move. (Also because they're BRs and they made fun of Sept. 11. No lie.)
Things JUST happen. You have to deal with it. -

The competitivness started it all.. it was never like that in OB or several months after that.. i remember every game i went into someone wanted to add me from the other team and paly now its like fk u go die or some sht... they are just mimicking the competive players to sound good when really they look stupid. that is why when someone says im bad im just like okay your cool.. im trying to get every one in my clan to do that .. not pay any attention to those people who think they are cool... -

It is mainly the competitive community in all honesty...
Sure, it still happens on a daily basis in public games but during scrims and echo-8 matches, the insults being thrown around is ridiculous and pathetic.
"You're bad" "Your team is bad" "Bad bad bad bad."
I mean really? I thought the competitive side of CF would at least have the decency to congratulate the opposing team after a good match or a good kill.
This is based on my experience. -
Your threads are awesome as always.
Polleus one more thing.
If people would speak PROPER english it would be fine.
I had to learn it myself and I'm 13.
Is my english proper?
Yea, why?
Because I really wanted to learn english to communicate with other people in the world.
The most import thing is the english language, Polleus.
If you can't talk english no one will ever respect you. -

Respect is respect. In any language. Sure, if you can't understand them you can't give them the proper response or reaction. However, simply flaming them in English when they speak another language does absolutely NO good. Lol. -

There are 3 independent things you can't control as a forumer and CF player.
1. You cannot control how old the people who come onto Forums and those who play the game.
2. You cannot control the race of those who wants to play this game, and what languages they want to speak/write.
3. You cannot control what people can or can't say.
Saying that, you would almost always have to assume that there will be those who are immature, stupid and obnoxious. There will always be a language barrier and you just can't do anything about it. This holds true for almost all online gaming. Has it gotten better for CF? Maybe not. But its just something we, as forumers and gamers, cannot control. We have to leave it to the people upstairs. They influence what the community as a whole act, and certainly influence certain individuals as well. We can all ask ourselves, Are there ways to solve these issues? ABSOLUTELY. Is it being done? We are not sure. We would all like for something to happen, and something revolutionary to bring this game back to life, bring back respect for our loyal players and forumers.
NOTE TO THE WISE AND CONSCIOUS*** FREE GAMES SHOULD JUST STAY...WELL, FREE. -

this summarizes my thoughts. it's hard to transform ugly ogres to princes. stuff like that only happens in fairy tales. -

But you shouldn't ignore the ugly ogres, because they are the ones that can and probably will kill you. They're always gonna be there, we just gotta learn how to deal w/ them**AKA**Ignore people who always wants to start online gaming arguments(OGAs). -
Also, another thing you can't control is, unseemingly there are tons of pro's on Forumers. I swear, in every section someone appears to get kicked b/c of hackusations. People like to say things that they arent. So don't trust people online. Garnering respect is one thing, bragging is another thing.

it's still out there but you need to actually make the nice shot and you have to play against the right people lol. but it's extremely rare to get those comments nowadays from the usual scrims -
L0LSmilyFace wrote: »Nice shot, good job etc...not anymore.
Partly because the last two months we've had hack filled servers. It's hard to believe people anymore. We don't trust the GMs and the GMs don't trust us. That's like a match(love match) made in hell.
Walk up behind a wall, pop out, boom headshot. "Ok, well maybe he was camping"
Walk up behind a different wall. Stop. Walk away. Walk back. Pop out, BOOM HEADSHOT. "F*#K."
--> "stupid hacker". End of story.
