  • Here's a question, if I have a 700 Watt power supply that works perfectly well with my computer, and upgrade to a 1000 watt power supply will there be any loss or gain in efficiency and performance(being less/more heat)? Just curious.

I'm confused by your random post.

There will be no difference in performance.

    It will be fine.

Performance of the power supply, not the computer, hence the parenthetic statement.

same performance but higher electric bills

It will deliver the same amount of power to each part. Nothing will change besides the fact of the heat and the possibility of upgrading. Other than that NOTHING.

give me the model of the 1000watt and 700watt power supply.

    steam powered comp actually.

    wrong

different power supply's have different ratings. if your 700 watt power supply doesn't have enough amps on the 12v rail to power your peripherals; it could damage them and or make them not perform to their full ability, that is why a quality psu that has 400watt's will probably power more than a garbage psu that has 700watt's.

not to mention quality psu's like corsair are energy efficient, making them take less energy than a mainstream supply.

OCZ StealthXStream 2 700 watt power supply to a Corsair 1000HX 1000 watt power supply.
  • seeing as how your computer probably doesn't take 700 watts anyway, there will be little to no difference in performance/heat etc etc if you throw in a HX1000watt.

my knowledge tells me that the corsair would take less energy and power in your computer because it is rated better, not to mention it will only be using have of it's wattage to power your computer... but the differences will unnoticed.

    conclusion:

replacing it with a 1000 watt HX won't have that much of a noticeable difference, although it will be there... there is simply no point in replacing your current supply unless it is faulty.

I have a Phenom x4 9600 CPU and an EVGA GTX 460. Don't get smart with me boii. I came here for an opinion, not for you to degrade me.

And are you basing your statements off of ratings from websites, or official ratings? I'm confused.

Will a system restore raise my FPS by allot or a little?
I have a crappy PC and want to raise FPS as much as possible.

The problem is I am not sure if my PC came with vista already installed or if it was installed later on.I was new to PCs when I got mine and I don't remember. We got a technician to come install some programs for us.Any way to know if it came with vista already installed?

system restore might increase fps to an extent, an extent that would barely be noticed if you have bad hardware anyway.

system restore won't restore other operating system that were on your computer if that is what you are asking me.

i am not degrading you, i am stating that upgrading to a 1000Watt HX would be useless unless you are running dual GTX 460's or something of that sort. i also stated that you might see a slight performance if you replaced your current psu with a 1000watt corsair, but like i said.. it wouldn't be noticeable because your 700watt is doing fine (unless you tell me otherwise)

i am basing my ratings from knowledge which i got from reading books about hardware and reading reviews etc, i know which supplies are good and which supplies are bad.

please don't claim i am degrading you, if i wanted to degrade you you'd already be logging off these forums.

"seeing as how your computer probably doesn't take 700 watts anyway" Somewhat insulting.

And the only reason I'm asking is because my case is heating up to a concerning extent, and feeling around, I realized it was my psu.

If this helps anything, I've overclocked both my cpu and gpu a little.

bad airflow? faulty supply? things like this are a little out of my reach unless i can physically examine your computer.

telling me how many hard drives you have might help me a little more

can you run a bench marking tool and examine how hot your components are getting under full load and idle?
  • i am as good as the guru i suggest getting an ethernet wireless connecter it is a little box that you put strain into a plug socket and join to your ethernet jack and you get lower that 40 ping in every match but they are expencive they work though i got one it amazing 100mps connection never droppes out ever they are amazing

Two hard drives, 2TB and 500 GB, 2 230mm fans, 1 intake, 1 exhaust, 2 more fans, don't remember the size, plus an extra fan dedicated to the hard drives. I clean the case every month, the power supply has a dust filter, and it is a bottom psu case.

That help? And the reason I mentioned "The power supply works fine right now" was because it gives me no hardware or or software issues, but the heat can cause my room to get up to 80+ degrees.
  • Can you tell me why my computer just shuts itself off randomly and random times even when im not doing anything on it?

system restore won't restore other operating system that were on your computer if that is what you are asking me.

What I am asking is if there is a way to find out if vista was installed with my computer when I bought it.

So I won't need to install it again if I restore it.

FPS isn't really the only reason I want a restore.I just want to make sure my computer clean of viruses etc...

Loose solder point on the mobo is all I can tell you. That or a virus.

Not unless it says "OEM" or in your Documents folder, there is a folder called "Old Windows".
    I feel like tasty. :D

Have any programs that aren't running properly? If not, it is a hardware issue.
  • Not really it only happens during gaming like CF/LoL

EDIT: Most of the time i mean.

Does it freeze? Do you blue screen? Do you ahve any corrupt programs? I need a yes or no... or I can't tell you.
