I got this from experence from playing more than 10 FPS,
I have 2 computers
a 5.1 GHZ 500mb ram desktop
and a 1.5 ghz 1000mb ram laptop.
the desktop can play operation 7 and sudden attack without lag
the laptop can play crossfire, combat arms, but will lag on SA and OP7. -
TastyLimeZZ wrote: »uhhh? okay...
having low ram is the only way performance is affected..
Having 3GB compared to... 8GB doesn't make a difference.
then explain how my laptop lags for sh*t at high CPU demanding games like OP7,
while my crappy desktop can play it lag free?
my laptop lags in slow motion, not even joking. -
TastyLimeZZ wrote: »Your lagging because your Graphic card is bad, seeing as how you have 512MB ram you must have a low-end laptop.
Laptops have integrated card's, meaning it's built in and get's power from the CPU (BAD BAD BAD)
Where as your desktop has a dedicated graphic card.
my laptop have more ram than my desktop =.=. -

core i7 is the most overrated processor, most people are sucked in by all it's apparent powers, it's nothing special.. most top of the line gaming rig's use core duo simply because its better for the buck.
Sort of correct, the Core 2 Duo is probably the most efficient current processor there is, but you should see the Core i5. It's, what $290 and it blows the C2D out to sea.
Some games do utilise four cores, like Left 4 Dead and in that case the C2D is no match for the Ci7.
And I sense fanboyism... -

alienware cheap? what? theyre like the most expensive laptop ever lol...or so i seem to notice when i gaze longingly at them from the internet xD
well may not be cheap to some , i have a custom dell almost the same as an alien ware but not as gd but cost almost the same........lol reallly its crap now its so old i need to get new one. -
I got curious and went and did a couple of benchmarks comparing the FPS between my single-core Pentium 4 HT 531 @ 3.00GHz (desktop) and my Core 2 Duo T7200 @ 2.00GHz, 4MB L2, 667MHz FSB (laptop)
They both have the same Intel GMA 950, though I think the laptop GFX core may be downclocked a bit. Both systems have the same memory specification of 2GB DDR2 667 and I installed CrossFire on both systems using a clean install of Windows XP.
I ran FRAPS and recorded a full, 13-round replay of Alaska, 8 v 8, with full settings at 1024x800 resolution (full textures, blood effects, etc). The results:
Pentium 4 3.00GHz, GMA 950, 2GB DDR2 667, WinXP - Desktop
Min. FPS : 32 Max. FPS : 103 Avg. 56.611
Core 2 Duo T7200 2.00GHz, GMA 950, 2GB DDR2 667, WinXP - Laptop
Min. FPS : 45 Max. FPS : 159 Avg. 87.337
Even though it was a quick benchmark of the replays with the same camera angle used, it showed that the game had more dependency on the CPU and got a good, ~31 FPS boost out of a faster, more efficient dual-core...even though CF only supports one core.
What do you think? -
[pudgypaw] Specs
Intel Core2Duo Wolfdale (45nm tech, most efficient, can idle at 25 Celsius without a fan, or OC to 4GHz on stock fan. 30W at rest...) [~$80?]
[4GB RAM, but only 3.25 recognized by the Gigabyte81945-GP-RH mobo]
ATI HD4770 (Best 45nm atm, beats GForce8000+ series. Anything above this is a big GPU, turns your room into a desert, and, for NVidia, squeals like a dying pig. This card is also used by Clayman, maker of Incorporated2. Youtube it..) [~$130]]
Average FPS is around 120 in full rooms, 220 in small rooms. Drops as low as 80 and spikes as high as 360. FPS spikes are frequent. Menu rooms give ~3000FPS.
Monitor is CHIMEI with 2ms response time.
XP Slipstream, reformat on average every month (used to be every 2 weeks). An 80G partition for OS should be ok... -

well i looked at one for like $2,200. and the cheapest i seen online was around $1,400. thats not cheap to anyone. unless there are Alienware comps i missed. that sounds expensive as f***... -
87 fps in an 8v8 on full settings? with the intel gma 950, that's a lie.
Alright, you compared a pentium 4 to a Core duo?
if your gonna compare a core duo and pentium 4, we might as well stick a gtx275 in one of those computers and benchmark it again.
To be honest, I was a bit surprised at the results anyway, but for a game that has graphics like this, the GMA 950 should be at least capable of that?
EDIT: Oh, it was a replay of ALASKA, remember, compared to the other maps, ALASKA is pretty small and it seems as though it doesn't have as much "colours" or "textures" as, say, EagleEyes. On those maps, yeah, it gets pretty laggy.
I'm planning to save a replay of an 8 v 8 EagleEyes, Port, Mexico or Sub Base. Somehow those are far more demanding.
Mike's laptop has a slower processor, but slightly stronger GFX which is the X3100...GMA 950, then GMA 3000, GMA 3100, GMA X3000, then X3100.
What map did you play it on? -
Dell dimension 3000 (2002)
Windows xp sp3 (32bit)
Pentium 4 prossesor
512 mb of ram
I have no video card this is all stock except I added a 256 memory stick
I keep a constant 21fps and 37 ping and 77 ping when I use vent
I dont lag at all but I would like to add a video card to connect 2 elo touch screens and I think it would enhance game play -
Intel i7 quad core 2.67 ghz
6gb triple channel ram
some really insanely large hd (sata 2)
2 nvidia 8800 gt (512mb each) in SLI
Windows 7 Ultimate (x64)
FPS is usualy between 100 - 200
best pc in the section by far nothing has came close to him yet -
