CrossFire 2 is allegedly being worked on

  • It'll be sad to see CF go down, but then again, CF2 coming out? Praying for updated GFX, better hack detection, more guns, and Region Restrictions. Oh please, indeed with the Region Restrictions. Lol

GFX Update - the game uses Unreal Engine so yeah the graphics will be A LOT better.
Better hack detection - really depends on many things we don't even know if it will be f2p or p2p

More guns - not anytime soon, it's gonna start off with a small database of items and just get patches like this CF - a new beginning (but it might have something interesting like a new unique game mode)

Region Restrictions - that depends a lot on who gets the licence for the game and how they will do their job.

-but a good feature we might see is ping restriction (I don't play many UE fps games but I believe most of them had this or am I wrong?)

Okay, lets take a step back.

Everything here is speculative at best.
CrossFire isn't going anywhere anytime soon (or even not-so-soon).

No real official word on "CrossFire 2" is out, its rumors.
I've posted in this thread because I love reasoning and rational discussion (as opposed to the "ban everyone plzzzz! threads we get far too often), not in an official capacity - which I don't even have.
  • My opinions on this will be either:

    1) They do a huge upgrade on the current engine and the graphics which will then result in CrossFire 2.

    2) They bring out CrossFire 2 as a separate game from CrossFire and shut it down once CrossFire 2 is in full swing. They will also do a account transfer with basic guns such as the M16, FAMAS, Scar Light etc... The players who do the account transfer will also start at a higher rank than everyone else e.g. Staff Sergeant and will receive other special bonus.

    3) They keep both versions and keep them running which seems un-profit because most of the players will go to CrossFire 2. They won't stay with CrossFire because of the old engine and graphic unless they have a crap computer but I doubt anyone will in 2015-2016.

There are other key factors in this such as new games coming into the Free-to-Play market. Those games will most likely have the latest graphics and engines.

Another factor you could consider is that CrossFire 2 won't be released until 2015 at the latest. That's two years away from now.

Well, those are my opinions on this subject.
  • CrossFire would still operate. Just left to the ******ed that can run around with their little hacks. And the dedicated....that wouldn't want to seperate from their 'well decided' investments.

Not exactly official word but if you go to SG's website (korean version) and open up the Job Applications there are 4 positions open for Crossfire 2
    Character modeler
Military based character, weapon and monster (zombies? or idk) concept artist,
    Server developer
And something called TA (Graphics technical support, animations and etc.)

Well let's slow this down a little bit. CF2 won't be released before 2015 in KOREA. Given that's how most games work out there's gonna be a 3-4 months closed/open beta tests over there and then at least 3-4 months more before any news for it coming to NA/EU so yeah add it as 1+ year after the Korean release for officially coming out in NA/EU (if the popularity of this crossfire doesn't play a key factor in speeding up the "westernization" of the game). But I doubt they will finish it before 2015 as they are still forming the team to work on the game.

Do you know how big Smilegate is? It is a huge company. If they got half of their employees to work on CrossFire 2 then I wouldn't think it would take them more than one year to make the game.

CrossFire 2 is currently in R&D (Research and Development). I don't think this will take more than 6 months so they might actually start going to production in January 2014 or so.

I'm pretty sure they can't afford to do that move. They are working on 3 games at the moment (looks like they are aiming for something to go to the top of the MMORPG market). They also have their old games (they can't have members from for example the current crossfire team work on CF2 as this would lower the quality of the upcoming patches and fixes for this CF). Also CF2 is on a completely new engine - most of the people won't have experience with it and would need time to learn how it works that's why on the Job Application page it says that they require 3+ years experience with Unreal Engine.

Also take a look at B&S - they got the game out for 3 months or more closed beta testing a year and a half after the first trailer from 2011 (with "actual gameplay") and the developer was NCSoft (pretty much the biggest korean game developers next to Nexon) and the game is still not out in the NA (probably won't come out until mid 2014 or so)

Edit: oh actually they have 5 unnamed projects they are working on so I guess that's even more workload for them

5 unnamed projects? I'm pretty sure that they announced those projects already.

    Project R = Fighting Star.
    Project PK = Marvel Heroes.
    Project T =Warrior.
    Project M = Probably CrossFire 2.

Each of those games will have their studio/development working for it. So I'm pretty sure it wouldn't a too much of workload.

I haven't heard the names of P and T until now, at least not officially (not like I've followed anything SG does except for CF)
    They've also got
    Project D
    Project C
    Project 3l

With C and 3l being mobile i don't think they need much of a team and there's absolutely no info on Project D.
What i'm trying to say is they are not that big to make the game in a year and release it in NA at the same time. The earliest it comes in NA would be somewhere after the the second quarter of 2016. I don't see any of the big name developers (even blizzard and etc) finish and release their games in such a short period of time. Actually I don't even know how big they are as there's nearly no info on "SmileGate" as Korean developers.
  • I'm going to tell you the truth.

I simply tell everybody, from Tencent where news is only 2 in the original Cross Fire for version upgrade and then upgrade to Cross Fire 2 Cross Fire, another is not you want a Cross Fire 2 in addition to tell everyone I am a Chinese now in Beijing because we the clothes are much more advanced than your beautiful dress version, in addition Cross Fire 2 this year have hanbok beta.

I have no idea how other games did it, but lets say G4 did.

The result is one of two really.
Either they figure out a way to transfer all the items to equal or similar value to each user automatically. I think this is quite unlikely unless the new Crossfire incorporates identical guns and keeps the "version 2" part to graphics and engine only, in which case it is very likely.

Or, they run the two versions in tandem, which is actually pretty unlikely too.. hmm, well I think they'll do the first one then.
I very much doubt they'd get away with simply removing all the accounts with thousands and thousands of dollars worth of items on them and saying "but theres this new game, play that!".
And running Crossfire 1 and 2 simultaneously would make no sense profits-wise, unless its launched as a NEW (not version 2) game on a different platform.
Actually that might be the way to go..

I have never heard of those projects. Oh no, I meant that it could be released in Korean. It will probably take another 6 months to 1 year for it to come to NA.

Oh yea guess I misunderstood xD as for these projects C and 3l are on the korean website and Project D is only in the Job Application page but it seems to be empty. Also I don't remember it being there a few days ago could be something new
