  • Awesome!!!

Thank you man you are the best!!!!!

Your client was corrupted because a certain file was removed in the patching process. In order to fix it, you'll have to uninstall Crossfire (and remove the Z8Games folder in C:/Program Files/Z8Games). Once you've done that, make sure any anti-virus/firewall software are completely disabled/turned off. For best results, I recommend temporarily uninstalling your anti-virus/firewall program. Then, you can reinstall Crossfire and it should work.

I'm sorry George. I've asked him before if he wanted to talk to me nasty to take it private. But he refuses. I will say nothing else on the matter other than you are correct about formatting the hard drives with rootkits installed in them.

You've never asked me such thing. Don't bother saying you have, because I'll ask you for proof of that, which you don't have.

George, I'm just simply trying to say that uninstalling Windows is completely unnecessary. Yes, it could be a possible solution, but it takes way to long, and really isn't worth all that time. There are several easier solutions to fix the situation, as I have provided in previous posts.

If you would take notice George said that most those people needing a re-install of their operating system had other malicious files in their file systems. Not everyone wants to spend the time doing countless hours of research to learn how to sift through the registry every time a different problem arises. Also CCleaner isn't going to get rid of any rootkits and other stuff that has taken over your pc.

I.E. They had been downloading hacks and scripts. Probably got backdoor trojans and keyloggers and rootkits along with it damaging the integrity of the files.

Anyhow, if you're like me and worry about your data you should have that backed up to begin with some some sort of imaging software.

I fall back to images I make with the operating systems fully updated with everything I need installed.

After that if something goes awry I can simply format the disks and copy the old images back to the disk. It's the ultimate restore point.

Problem solved in about 30 minutes. ;)

Ahh I see now. Are the malicious software in question connected to "hacking" in CrossFire? Could it be the case XTrap is intentionally causing issues to those machines? #Conspiracy

But yea it's nice to see help on these forums. Especially on the Tech Support board. And yea it's a little sad to see how prevalent and indepth the problem can be.

Just drop it its. I did end of story. Of course it's gone now because you cried to [MOD]Nonnen to delete my post on his wall after I told you to take the conversation privately. What is left of the truth is on his comment wall.
You said I blatantly didn't like you. If you want to know the truth the more
you talk the more I am not. I really don't like liars and cheaters.

Like I said, and George kindly relayed and asked from what he was told that, if you have anything further to say to me I recommend you to take it private before you put your foot in your mouth any deeper.

Reinstalling windows isn't a solution. That's extremely time consuming, and there are other ways to fix the problem. Reinstalling Windows also makes you lose all of your current data on your computer.

If you're going to suggest solutions, do it right.

Seriously. You are a deranged trouble maker. Make your mind up.
Is it reinstall or uninstall or a solution or not a solution? There or not there because you wanted it deleted.

Formatting a hard disk is the way to erase the rootkits you get from downloading junk. Or do you know some magical way to make them just disappear?

George did recommend other alternatives to get the game patcher working, and what he found out through his detailed analysis is that many of the systems that wouldn't work with the other solutions needed a format and fresh install of the operating system to get the game to work because they had rootkits deep inside the hard disks. I'm not going to go into detail explaining to you what a rootkit is or how they hook into the operating system. Did you just not bother reading and understanding the entirety of his post?

If it's a conspiracy, it's a real doozy of one to get them clean. LoL

Help! I followed your directions and uninstalled the antivirus now my mouse is going all by itself and I have pop up windows everywhere. Is there something you can do to fix it?

What kind of pop up windows?

Well this makes me look like a bad person, haha.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, and delete any programs that may sound suspicious to you (other than graphics card drivers, sound drivers), things with "Toolbar" in their name could also be giving you these pop-ups.

You must understand that you had to of downloaded something malicious beforehand if you're getting pop-ups as you say. My method is only recommended if you are keen that you are safe when downloading programs, knowing that they don't contain spyware.

Id suggest that you redownload your anti-virus, and do a full computer scan before continuing.
  • out of luck :(

the files you uploaded to fix x trap etc don't work for me.
my game force closes thats it it opends it loads hgwc xtrap moves out the right hand corner then windows changes to windows 7 basic then it stops :L with all 3 files

Re-installing the OS because of a fault that's from Z8's side isn't a good idea. Even if you re-installed the OS, the only reason it would be working is because crossfires "XTrap" folder would have been updated to the latest version after HGWC is executed.

Not everyone has their installer Discs, or an OS that can re-install the windows from previous copy's on the machine. RootKits have nothing to DO with Cross Fire, sure maybe it will block exe's from running on the local machine, or allow restricted access on the machine, but it will not conflict with crossfire. RootKits are known to corrupt system files so how do you expect them to reinstall the windows when its main function is to destroy the factory image?

Besides it's not like they are FUD, most of those malcious scripts are detected by decent malware scanners, for example you could use "ANTI-Rootkit" by malwarebytes which scans all sectors of the PC, or just use malwarebytes itself.

This is why you do not attempt to go onto websites spammy websites without ad-block software, if you were using chrome put this into your browser:

    chrome://extensions/

Then disable any extensions you did not download, if it was IE tools>Internet options>Advanced>reset

If there is adverts without a browser open then you have some sort of PUP/PUM on your machine so go download malwarebytes.
  • Would you Mind dropping down the aegis file i accidentally got rid of it xD

It's not Z8's fault that the operating system needs to be replaced. Most generally it is what the end user has alllowed to transpire on their machine from malicious scripts and programs.

The operating system will be working properly after a drive wipe and fresh install becasue there are no more malicious code hooking into the operating system. Being able to update it's self properly is a perk of having a clean running machine.

Those discs are easily obtainable. You should contact your PC manufacturer to obtain them if you don't have them and want to use them.
Some PC's sold nowadays even have a separate partition on them for system recovery...

I fail to see your understanding of how you think that it is possible to run a system hampered with malicious code that everything will be just fine and dandy.

So in your personal opinion you don't think that crossfire.exe is an executable in and of it's self that calls on other resources in a system that is being manipulated and damaged by rootkits and other malicious code is just a foolish assumption on your part.

Do you have an anti-virus running in the background? Kind of sounds like your anti-virus is blocking the X-Trap file from being downloaded completely. You could try adding it to your anti-viruses exceptions list, or you could turn it off/uninstall it temporarily.
  • im using norton,i closed it and trying download the link again.thanks anyway
