My current rig, which can probably does run BF3 on okay fps or whatever.
I bought my computer at Best Buy for about $700-$800 it was a small while ago sorry.
And through systemrequirementslab.com it tells me that I'm a few cm over the minimum specs range.
All I need to do to really get more power is to up my GPU, which right now is a GeForce GT 630... not that bad but a "meh" imo.
In order for me to have that awesome range of a GPU if I upgrade it is to also upgrade my PSU (Power Supply Unit) to a higher standard.
Beauty in the eyes of a desktop.
I can't wait to man up on my own to build my own rig. xD
edit: How old is your current computer? -

I'll laugh if he bends half the pins in the socket.
I have an EXTREMELY crapp desktop in my basement that is as fast as me running on caspian border on bf3 (slow). Would upgrading that speed it up?
I'm not a techy person around desktops. It's an old dell running windows XP (can I go up to win7?) it says it has intel pentium 4? Not sure if its the hardware going bad or if replacing the core and cards with better ones will help. So I checked. It has Windows XP, 1.25 gigs of RAM (damn), an intel prentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHZ, 1278 memory of RAM, and 9.77 gigs available out of 37 in hard drive. Worth it or not? -
Well with Windows XP the maximum limit on physical memory is 4GB unless you're running the 64-bit version which ups it to 128 GB.
Can you detail any further your specs? Like Pentium 4 was out for about 8 years lol. You could probably up your HDD to a higher storage capacity one.
Lol. Model names & numbers please!!! -

it's an lga socket 775 probably (it's probably an optiplex), you can't upgrade it to core 2 duo though, so it's not worth it. it's about 60-75 dollars for that desktop lol. -
My HP Desktop was $400 pre-built from Walmart. That was a year ago. Its not the best and I'm not sure how well it would run BF3 but I can play Skyrim on High (second highest) with a smooth fps rate. If you got a guy doing it, just buy the parts and have him build it. Theres a guide somewhere to building your own pc somewhere on these forums lol

Or look at each part manual that comes in the box with the part. Lol. -
Whelp. Checked up on windows site and google and the best I could do with this is chuck it out the window... Not really worth it all. So now I'm (me being cheap lol) going for a desktop that can run BF3 smoothly at low/medium graphics. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! I understand that this is extremely hard but I really do need an upgrade from my laptop. So, lowest priced desktop (Really want an i5 with quad core @ 2.8+ GHZ. and 4 GB RAM). Anybody?

I have been building gaming rigs for some time. I like to research all my builds on TomsHardware. I'm not promoting this site, Its just what I do before I build. here are two midrange builds for gaming. They will do very well gaming. You want highend? We be talking 2000.00 bucks.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/budget-gaming-do-it-yourself-computer,3364.html
This is a 500.00 buck build, will run BF3 @ 82 / 111 FPS depending on your Desktop settings. If you have a HardDrive, Case, DVD, you can cut that to = 380.00 Good Gaming Rig.

This is a 600.00 buck build will run BF3 @ 92 / 161 FPS depending on your Desktop settings. If you have a HardDrive, Case, DVD, you can cut that to = 490.00 Now we be Smoking
Building a PC is easy, The parts cant go in wrong. Super Easy.
But what do I know I'm a Idiot.... -

Tier 3 power supply, why spend 20 dollars on a 600 dollar machine, doesn't make sense, at least 60, PSU is the last thing you want to cheap out on, yes yours may be working but it is still a tier 3 power supply with inconsistent results, plus you are running it on a HAS -

more budget build
you can save 50 dollars if you buy a 7770 instead, but noticeably decrease in performance at higher resolutions, buy a 760g chipset motherboard, lack of overclocking available though which will save you 20 dollars, cheaper powers supply could save you another 30. but as is it is a pretty good computer.
you can also have this build same price range with an i3, no overclocking though, the stock i3 vs the stock 6300 "labeled at 6 cores" (actually 3 physical 6 logical) will slightly be below the i3 in terms of performance, overclock this and you will beat the i3. less power consumption with the i3, also if you don't plan on overclocking the 7850, you can buy the 650 TI BOOST which will offer similar performance at stock and less power consumption, better drivers as well.
