not worth the money even if it were possible with your specific model, i mean it is possible to upgrade a laptop CPU, but the price is never worth it. you should consider building a PC and stop wasting your time with laptop gaming, especially if you want to play games like BF3.

I have a gaming laptop, I get 60 fps on custom settings in bf3.
To the OP: Not many laptops can have the important components, like CPU and GPU, upgraded. Even if you could upgrade, it would be hard to find someone selling mobile series CPUs and you would have to experiment yourself to try and find how to install it. Most manufacturers frown upon doing this so there would not be instructions on how to do it and would almost certainly void your warranty. Also, bf3 needs a good GPU more than a good CPU. You're better off buying something new all together. -
It's mostly about the socket on the motherboard that tells you what kind of processors you can have.
With a laptop you're better off just moving on to a desktop if you want to play around with customizing parts. A laptop is a little more trickier to get around and if you mess up you're basically done for.
I highly recommend getting a desktop PC. With laptops basically you should only be "upgrading" the RAM sticks. -
Well I cant buy any more PC/laptops. I don't have the cash for that. I'm kinda counting on a black Friday deal for a processor. My current one is Intel (R) Core(TM) i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30 GHZ. 2.30 GHz. I just want to be able to play BF3 slightly smoother at medium.

they don't cell mobile cpus via retail, you're going to have to buy it off a place like ebay or something, used more than likely or off a broken laptop with parts, also what is the model of your laptop? your motherboard and socket could support the CPU but it might not have the capabilities in the BIOS for that model -

If he has no idea what he is doing he'll just **** up if he even tries to attempt to upgrade his CPU on a laptop.
Just give up and learn to play on terrible FPS.
I do have an idea so please shut up. And BF3 online is unplayable with a low FPS. Learn to contribute too, not stupidify a thread. -

just the removal of the processor, but you have to remove a ton of stuff before that
Before removing the processor, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 37), and then remove the following components:
● Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 39)
● Hard drive (see Hard drive or SSD on page 41)
● WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 45)
● Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 47)
● Top cover (see Top cover on page 50)
72 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures● System board (see System board on page 61)
● Fan and heat sink (see Fan and heat sink on page 65)
Remove the processor:
1. Use a flat-bladed screw driver (1) to turn the processor locking screw one-half turn
counterclockwise (2), until you hear a click. -
OP says the read the manual.. But Fallout is just copying & pasting stuff from it.
Honestly zealot, if you're uncomfortable to go all in to change a processor on a laptop you're better off buying a desktop so that any future customizations will be A LOT easier.
It's difficult, to say the least, to play around with the insides of a laptop. I would totally understand your hesitation.
I guess you can also go to a professional service to have them do it for you. It would probably cost a good amount of $$ for just having them open up a laptop.
Edit: Also the list of processors that Fallout posted, which I believe are from the maintenance manual, are just to "replace"; not to upgrade. The only thing that's really worth upgrading as a hardware part on a laptop is the RAM. -
You should look up your motherboard specs to see your socket type so you know what you can or cannot do. And just because you may place a particular processor in that particular socket doesn't always mean compatibility with the rest of your motherboard.
Picky SoBs.
Edit: all my belief. -
This is how you upgrade a laptop, Sell it cheap, buy a new one.
This is the reason I said this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2N_9hoESVI
I have upgrade my Laptop CPU, Ram, Hard Drive. Not everyone should try this. I build all of my own computers.
That video is the same laptop you have. The guy is replacing the CPU. Think you can handle it? Go for it, really not that hard. -

I linked him to his laptop spec. Shows all the CPU for that model. -
Looked into te matter a bit more and did a live chat with an HP specialist. I don't think I will go ahead with this. Just going to have to convince my parents our current laptop sucks... Anybody know the cheapest way to get 60 FPS low graphics on BF3 right now? Going to consider all options and lean towards a Black Friday sale. (Lots last year).
