something i can't comprehend

You'd think after so many times of going through this stupid cycle of "oh, let's improve the community," people would grow ****ing brains and put their money where their mouth is. It's actually comical how this community can go from having some great initiative to improve the competition, and then go back to doing their same old immature ****.

What I'm appalled at in particular is the fact that we have this and this thread full of people acting like they want to make some sort of change to the CF competitive scene, yet when some guy comes out with actual constructive criticism for improvement (as seen here), we get replies like
You care about this a bit too much, it's creepy.
bro you take it too seriously we are not professional casters we just did it for the fun and to make it interesting if you got a problem? how about you cast? ****ing f@goot SHOTS FIRED
TL;DR

That was longer than all of my english essays criticizing young casters in a f2P FPS?
Bro
Do you think we make a living off casting CrossFire? O_o

Wow.

You sir are one authentic keyboard warrior.
props man props.....
1 like for this ... God really , if you are so good at casting why dont u be the caster for the competitive scene already !
Sounds like this guy should've been the one casting.

He gives actual valid criticism, and cares about improving CF, and you guys shoot him down. Right after you post ideas on how to improve CF...

For real, if you want to improve your community, practice what you preach. Don't just hop on the "what can we do to improve" bandwagon, and take some initiative yourself.

  • I agree.

Everyone has the right to voice their opinions and criticism.

One does not have to be a professional caster to be able to criticize another caster.

Just like, you don't have to be a 5 star chef to say a meal isn't great.
  • Welcome to Crossfire, where everyone is a **** and the points don't matter.

    It come's down to this:

    1) People are defensive
    2) People are not supportive of one another
    3) People are in general quite frankly, *******s.

If everyone was open and helpful and worked together, this game would be in a much better spot. Instead, anytime someone tries to do something, they get trolled and a group/person try to tear down the progress. Anytime someone speaks their mind, they get trolled. It is not worth it half the time to argue or put forth the effort.

    Two things need to happen:
    1) we need to improve among ourselves.
    2) We need money to advertise/grow the competitive scene/throw events with real potential

The dead horse is getting a beating.
  • Dag is shredded so I'm riding on the bandwagon.
  • I believe that defacto these functions are performed via an informal person to person basis and as such they are decentralized by nature and ill suited for centralized control. For example I go to echo 8 pub. They see me flexin. They mirin They Deff Jelly. Then I'm like "hey bro have you tried purple slurpy strat" They havent. Their life is forever altered after I show them this. Then there like hey brah HowDoIGetbigLikeYou? I'm like "Join dic, kriders united". +1 dic, kriders club member. And thats how we added most members, from informal personal interactions. Same thing with Fallout. Fallout personaly knew beefy Slaya-brah because Slaya-brah would flex his pecs and Fallout would slide his peen along his inner chest. Slaya-brah wanted them aminos, and Fallout was ready to provide.

Just to update everyone Dag and I went to talk to Saidin today. We asked him about the game and everything is on track. 2 competitions with AC will be available in two decades or so and he was really helpful. He asked why we needed so much money and if we even play competitive. So shame on Fallout for not being big enough and making us look bad. Everything else went really well otherwise. However he needed a bit of convincing so I had to borrow some nutrishop posing oil and perform a 30 min posing routine. It was super effective. Also because of my expert handling of the situation I am now External Relations Czar.

Just kidding, hope this made you laugh. Love and kisses from your favorite internet asshat.
  • This is where idea suppression comes in.

Willing to rent a MOD account in exchange for letting you use my Tiger M4 for a day, PM me if interested.
  • Critiquing something that was last minute is ... so so

I mean it wasn't perfect but, again it wasn't awful

He took the time to write up an essay of how the cast could have been improved, and shows that HE wants to improve upon it. So why doesn't he help out is the big question, that's why people were 'shooting' him down. It's a very hypocrite-type of response in my eyes.

Whether it's last minute or not doesn't matter, he gave the casters genuine advice and they should appreciate that.

Plus, not everyone wants to volunteer to help, and that's fine. He's doing his part to help by giving critique.

No they weren't. If they told you that then they were lying to you, and just using that as an excuse.

If you honestly think that it's hypocritical to provide critique without doing anything else to "help," then you need to get your priorities straight. Learning what you did wrong is NEVER a bad thing, and no one should ever get blasted for telling you valid information on how you can improve.
  • This is pathetic. Bandwagoning onto the OP instead of using THOUGHT and LOGIC to address a situation, which is exactly what the OP was telling you not to do.

RawrJafrikan gives the most intelligent response to this thread yet. Was he being a sarcastic ass in his response? Was he trying to provide more humour than serious discussion? Yes, but he brings up a good point.

The point, for those of you late to the party, is that criticism and ideas best come from people close to those involved. The point he makes is that I should have given them advice in private or allowed their friends to give them advice if I wanted to be taken seriously. The point he makes is that criticism is taken poorly from strangers.

I agree. However, as I said in my original thread, I was trusting the casters to be mature enough to accept criticism as constructive. I still am; I hope that they can take the advice given, determine which of it applies to them, and improve. As I said then, I know that I strive to do my best in everything I do, and I will always take advice from one who knows more than I.

It's a very hypocrite-type response in my eyes.

Teach a man to fish... Giving advice is not hypocritical.

Also, you should read my posts before criticizing my actions. For example, how I mentioned "I was going to cast, but arrived late", and "I am paid to cast for Smash Bros., CS1.6, and CS:GO". I think those both cover "unqualified" and "doing nothing more".

Why you would waste money to advertise/grow the community is beyond me. Let's take what little funds there are for cf and waste them on things that can be accomplished without spending a cent.

    Good plan.

    ^this
The criticism came off pretty sharp especially since we didn't criticize past casters with such depth, the fact that it was a new caster and it was a last minute pick up providing a viewable experience just amps it up that much more.

There's two opinions, it just so happens that I believe the cast was done in an acceptable manner that I reinforce through my previous posts?

    Looks like I win again.

Edit: In all seriousness though, I do think that you guys are cool for making an effort to trying to improve the attitude of the community. Unfortunately, I don't think that its possible. Too many people who are childish and that is unfortunately the climate of these forums. I guess it might be possible, but highly unlikely. I applaud you guys.

  • ireid, nice essay, you couldnt make the cast on time, they filled in,
they had the reponsibilities of volunteers, not jobs. gave themexpectations, they coudnt possibly meet, wouldve been easier to make a thread on " How to cast by Reid" then critque tommy and drel, you and dag and knocked up a useless ruckus, that very few people are gonna read, mmore people would read a sticky thats called reids guide to casting then this sht.

Do you think that volunteers have no expectations or drive to improve? Volunteers still wish to do well; otherwise, they would not have volunteered. Regarding expectations...I don't think that the casters should listen to anyone's expectations except their own. And, if those casters expect themselves to do well, and if they are not performing well, then they should seek to improve.

Yes, I could have made things easier by not criticizing their performance. Yet, for the third time now, I was hoping that they could (and will) take the criticism as constructive rather than inflammatory. Again, I strive to do my best in everything I attempt, and I welcome all criticism leading to improvement. I place my trust others to do the same.

I have no interest in making a "guide to casting"; it would be useless. Casting depends on the personalities of the caster/s, the pace of the game, whether or not it is a sponsored tournament, and many other factors. My critique was of highly specific things, with a few general points thrown in about good communication.

I apologize if my post caused a "useless ruckus". Criticism will often be accepted poorly; that is human nature. Yet you, among others, seem to take this criticism as a personal attack. And, when you say that few people will read it...that is fine by me; it was directed toward the casters of the game. If anyone should feel indignant, it is they.

no they are volunteers, they only wanna help, not drive to improve, if you were smart about this, you shouldve made a guide, criticism constructive or not is still criticism, you cant tell someone how to do something because they dont meet your standards(my defination of critcism)
inflammatory? im sorry it was precieved as that also, regardless of you saying it wasn't
if you want something done you tell them how to do it
