League idea/need feedback
So I've been talking about running a league for awhile now, and haven't really gone through with it due to circumstances.
Now I'm actually looking to go through with it if i could get a lot of support, mostly from z8games.
My idea is pretty simple.
A full length season with about 10-12 matches
1 match a week @ 9 rounds per half
Standings would be based off a point system kind of like what WOGL did.
Still not decided how this point system would work though. I would like EVERY round to count though.( for example, Lets say a team won the overall match, but only won ONE half. they would get 3 points, 1 for winning a half, and 2 for winning the overall match. ) This way even if you lose the match early, you're still competing for a point that goes up on the standings.
The first season would have 1 division. If the league actually had enough teams, we would bring the top (number of teams that would be decided at a later point) to a higher tier division.
Some sort of prize for completing the season would also be nice, (name card/spray with some sort of Crossfire league type thing on it)
One thing that just kills events in crossfire is teams dropping out. This could help a little bit i would assume? I know i would want a namecard/spray.
Access to the "Competitive tab" would also be nice. I feel this could be crossfires "Official" League. As in Z8 would completely support it by helping advertise and allowing a mod or someone access to the competitive tab somehow. On that page there could be standings, a schedule, information, ect.
Advertising from Z8 would help a LOT. By Z8 making a simple post to the homepage or facebook, it could bring in many potential players.
As for an AC.. This is the main issue of EVERY event in the past few years for crossfire. As much as bandicam sucks, that's really the only thing useable. IF we did have to use bandicam, on a dispute case, the user being disputed should have to upload the full video to youtube. A bandicam video at a lower, but visible quality @ 5 fps shouldn't be a problem uploading at all.
(This is definitely subject to change, and I'm completely open to ideas about bandicam/ac/ect.)
A League fee could be a possibility. Most likely not in the first launch season, but it will be in the talks later on. This would help a lot with prizes.
Post your thoughts/Ideas below. Completely open to suggestions.
I would REALLY like to hear from Saidin on supporting an event like this. If a mod could link him, or he sees this, please give a response, or pm me if you have any questions.

imo, a better system would be:
1 pt - winning a match
1 pt - per half
No overtime during regular season. So in case of a tie each team would get 1 pt.
-1 pt - Forfeit Loss
1 pt - Forfeit win (didn't win any half, just the match due to the other team not showing)
That leaves 3 points available per match. It would encourage teams to be flexible with scheduling and actually attempt to show up so they could possibly earn more points, rather than just settling for the 1 pt.
To break tiebreaks "round efficiency" ( Rounds Won / Rounds played) could be used. It is important to note that forfeits would not add into rounds won/played. -

i second this -
force bandicam uploads regardless of who won or lost
nobody wants to come out and publicly ask for bandi
to add onto this now that I'm awake...
You'd need to get yourself a cheap website or something
YOU would create the accounts on the website for the players once everybody has registered for the league. This will prevent people uploading sht to LOL TROL YOU, as well as people attempting to cheat by uploading a bandi and pretending to be someone else...
Meh, as I type this its obvious that someone could just give their login info to another person...you'll have to think of a better way, but you catch what I'm saying? You can't just have people upload to rapidshare or whatever. They need to be accountable. -

For the ranking system...
Just use a weighted ELO system, and weigh each round.
Team A (1400 ELO) faces off against Team B (1600 ELO).
Team A wins game 1, 9-7. The ELO would be calculated round-by-round, loss-first, in favor of the winning team (if it's calculated the other way around, it raises the winning team's ELO by a lesser amount).
The new ELO (with a weight of 10) from that half would be Team A (1431 ELO) to Team B (1569 ELO).
Same-ranked players could at most (in a 9-0 situation) lose 40 ELO from a half in a 9-0 situation. This allows for both dramatic ELO shifts differentiating top-tier teams and stabilization of ELO among those same teams.
For the anti-cheat...
Bandicam is good / fine, but you should really look into getting MyAC (or some comparable anti-cheat). It's 150 dollars for a three-month span, which is really good. If players lag, that's on them (although MyAC has apparently fixed the dualcore issues).
Mind you, I'm not complaining about Bandi. I agree that it's the best we have to offer now; but running on an AC (with MOSS, too) would be far preferable.
Edit:
Regarding bandicam...
I always request the entire other team's bandi, every game. It's a good habit; one that you should all develop. It's a pain for them, but it tremendously cuts down on hostility / trolling.
Regarding team-size / roster changes...
Six-man teams are the perfect size. Don't do any of this two-sub crap. That just lowers the number of teams available in the pool, and the majority of teams never will play outside of their S6 anyway. -
Thought you quit idiotforce bandicam uploads regardless of who won or lost

I'm not watching literally HOURS of bandicam footage if it was like this.It all looks good on paper.
However, the issue arises getting z8 support and secondly, dealing with some community members. If you can do both of those, gg.
I'm rootin for ya.
And i can handle the community. Slaya won't get to my head. -
I would like to help you run this if it does happen. Ill be back from the holidays mid feb. Let me know. For the ranking system...

Elo would never work. -

This is where z8 support comes in. We don't need a website at all besides the crossfire site itself.
A separate forum for match coms/discussion about the league is all that is needed if z8 could provide us with using the competitive tab at the top.
In that tab could be all the news, standings, schedule, teams, ect.
I mean, look how outdated the page is, and its not even used anymore. For the ranking system...

We aren't doing an elo system for a league..
I may try to get in contact with the myAC guy. (i can easily because hes on my xfire)
Lowering roste rsize also makes there a bigger chance a team won't be able to get 5. I'm saying this now, rosters will be a 7 man roster. -
Erick. I am already working on a league with Saidin. Your input is much appreciated and you are welcome to work with me on the league details.Erick add me on Xfire: zzxq
I already have z8 support for my league I am working on.
I'm not looking to partner with anyone on this.
I feel if this isn't ran the the way I think it should, the competitive side will not get any bigger.
Even if i don't get support from z8 i'm going to make this happen regardless. -
Why do you think that?
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system
Elo was meant to individually rate each player, not a whole team. Even in the game league of legends, the elo system is flawed. There is more to calculating elo than just adding 7-9. You need to account the win percentage and weigh out the win and loss of elo for each player. Oh, and elo was meant for chess, not a shooting game. Rating and elo are two different things. -

Saidin said he is willing to work with anyone on events like this, but he is quite busy so you will have to message multiple times if you want a response. He has offered things to me such as helping with prizes, promoting the league on CF site, and working with me to find an AC. -

I will be contacting him at some point.
Thank you for that information though, and good luck. -

Tbh, you do not need any z8 sponsor to run this. This game has been pretty dead and people will most likely play a league just for honor. Prizes are nice, but I rather have something serious to play whilst waiting for a lrized event. -

I'm not looking for a sponsor from z8.
I'm looking for support, and when i say support i mean advertising, providing a sub forum for this, ect.
Prizes would be nice, but not everyone wants ZP like you said.
Something i would REALLY like from z8 is the ability to do something like WOGL did. If they could make a league pass purchasable, and convert some of that money spent to a cash prize, that would be really nice.
I mean lets face it, I'm a broke college hockey player with no extra money to spare, all i have is time to help make this happen. -

Just have everyone press tab for three seconds on the first round. -

Run it like CCC. You don't really need a subforum for the league, as a matter of fact if you want a place for exclusive discussion on the league, you can make a sub reddit for free discussion with little to no mod control.
