just curious what exactly is needed for the competitive side to come back that you all talk about. a complete list of what it would need.

Doop and Bruce have pretty much hit all the points needed to formulate all you need.

The LoL community has just as many immature players as this community does, there are just way more of them so it really doesn't matter. Quantity is very important, especially when you're looking at it for a competitive environment.

There aren't enough teams around to facilitate long-term interest in competitive Cross Fire and that is what needs to change. You all say more teams would play if there were a real anti-cheat and people around to actually run events. It didn't work. Doop hit it right on the nose where he said that all this game needs to spark something is money. Not necessarily from Z8Games, just money in general. Large monetary prizes for competition. Why do teams form and come back each year just for WCG? The chance for a free trip and prizes. It's pretty evident what is needed.

The attitude of this community ultimately did it in for most Leagues, that fact has been well established. I don't really need to elaborate much on that, Bruce did a good job with that one so I'll just leave it at that.

thin why not advertise your game to other leagues?
  • Do not compare LoL community to our's. Every game has their trolls. The League community has a vast amount of players compared to ours. It is like comparing Rhode Island, to California. Just no.

The competitive side of crossfire died a slow and painful death.

Thank you idiots who chipped in by slowly stabbing this game. Back 2-3 years ago, there were high hopes for this game.
  • so the question arise; What can we do to revive/improve the game? At least from a community perspective.

It is hard to revive something that is dead. But for starters you can get the cheating trolls banned from every upcoming tournament, league, or scrim.
  • i'm pretty sure most of us are willing to pay like 5$+ (each person) if a good league come out with a real anticheat. that was already discussed in a thread i believe Erick from pdf made, so its up to you guys now.

    Good input.

It basically rests in the shoulder of one person. Unless someone else with the money and resources of Jon comes along. No one person can make a difference except for him, the 'upcoming lan' as an example where thousands of dollars are being spent.

I'm working on launching something like that similar to what ESEA has running right now.

I personally think that's why you aren't apart of any organizations or companies. Community means absolutely nothing, look at LoL for example. Community is terrible yet sponsors and organizations stick to it because it's profitable. If sponsors/orgs dropped games because of how bad the community is, eSports in general would of been dead a long time ago.

Why did WOGL choose to leave? Because doop stopped helping. Why did doop stop helping? Because of the community.

    You are so cool.
  • its all about the money money , in real life and even in game bahaha
  • WOGL, FG LAN, and WCG 2013 not enough for you?

    none are official
  • WOGL, FG LAN, and WCG 2013 not enough for you?

    Didn't wogl drop cf?
FG lan yes that will be great
WCG 2013 is late next year?

if the LAN is actually happening, is Jeden going?

Not exactly, but close enough. It was flawed from the get go, as someone as selfish as myself should of never been the liason.
  • WOGL, FG LAN, and WCG 2013 not enough for you?

WOGL is gone and China will just rig next year's WCG again. Things are looking good right?
  • Why wouldn't cross fire be picked up again for next year? I'm pretty sure it was already announced that it would(correct me if I'm wrong). Cross fire had it's own stage at this wcg event and it was largest yet. The odd of wcg picking up cf again are very high imo

its a good chance, never said it wasnt. It hasnt been announced. There were 4 official game titles. Why wouldnt it get one of the main stages?

Or, instead, one could talk to WCG officials about the issues at the last event, and then seek to fix them for future events.

Things aren't looking good, but they are far from hopeless.

Have we finally realized that the reason this community has died is because we (I'm not excluding myself, I wasn't always a role model) killed it?

Cheating + general immaturity really did us in. Elitism and the unwillingness to welcome/mentor others is/was also a problem.

I don't blame the leagues for dropping us, though I have no ideal what happened with WOGL, I've been involved with this community long enough to know that there will always be a minority that goes out of its way to shiit on people trying to do the right thing.

Back when e8 was bumping, everyone was so caught up in their own little quest to become the best. Some went the right route and put in the work to carve out a name for themselves, but others decided to burn the candle at both ends and do whatever they could to make a name.

But now e8 is dying or dead (depending on who you ask, my opinion is the latter) and now people want to get concerned. I hate to bring more negativity, but honestly the damage is probably already done. People have bounced out to other games and haven't looked back.

So to the people that turned it to shiit: Congratulations, you're king turd on top of shiit mountain. It's what you wanted, isn't it? You can contest the throne with the other 100~ or so people who still identify with the scene. You can threaten to fight each other at Lan, you can complain about no leagues, talk shiit about better players, talk shiit about worse players.

It's what you wanted, isn't it?

Took the words right out of my mouth.
(Just a quick note, what ive written isn't directed at anyone specific as i dont know EVERYONE on here, but im sure you guys can think of a few people.)

Though I enjoy playing with a lot of peeps from Echo 8, it's infuriating seeing so many teams & players have no chance to become better or stronger or even improve the community and go to LAN's or get sponsored, because of individuals in the community trying to make it fail on purpose that are to immature to recognize that some people actually want to take the community to a higher level as well as the playing standard and improve the game for everyone, including themselves.

It's also the fact that too many people are thinking trolling is the only way to have fun. That's one of the main reasons this community is failing on the simple fact that are to many people thinking trolling is the only way to enjoy a game or play with others online. I mean really, the fact that they enjoy making others feel **** about specific things even personal things which really people have no right to judge or even condemn is truly a new level of "low" even the way people look apparently is a factor of whether you will be welcomed in echo 8 or not which is just completely disturbing.

Yes, the occasional joke/trolling is fine you know poke fun at one another sure, go for it everybody does it but when you deter potential new players for your own community from actually playing & participating in the competitive scene or oL friends(who are still people not figments of your immature imagination), simply by the way you act(as most people here seem to act like they are 8 years old not 17+) you should be worried.

Anyway, if you want to improve the community clamp down on the morons, if you see cheaters bust them get them banned, if you see trolls, ignore them & or get them banned, yeah they may come back but at least your doing your part, We @ BeyondControl are willing to help you guys, we will be streaming with full casting may I add, scrims leagues and stuff if we have the time as we mostly do EU competitive related things, we will endeavor to help you guys improve your community and not just ours, with frost gaming I would probably say on lead with this community you guys can turn it around & if you cant or you do not think you can then uninstall this game because the community needs people who have the confidence to help it move forward, not people who are just willing to push it off like it's nothing especially if you've played this game for more than a year. Putting so much time and effort into something then just giving up is stupid and I am putting it mildly.

Alright, I've said my bit, If I get trolled or flamed for my grammar or even what I said in the "essay" then well, it proves my point 2 paragraphs up. Anyway GL guys, hope some of you can help the community move forward, it needs it.
