Some of my professors at the uni refused to adapt, so they are still capitalizing nouns in e-mail conversations, while the younger ones (tutors etc) just capitalize the first letter of a sentence most of the times.

orthography reforms in germany and austria have been one big mess, complicating things even further. Don´t want to know what it´s like to learn this language from scratch.

I totally didn`t see that, sorry.

actually it is still used. people even mix it up. teachers don`t know which is the correct way of teaching the students. exceptions have been made, because some words don`t sound right without the ß. It`s a big mess.
