For example the Log In event you did where you would win the 7 day M66 for logging in between a certain time - If I remember correctly, UK players had to either log in at 1PM (yeah we would of had to skip work/school/what ever) Or stay up till 1AM in the morning.... I mean did you even think about the uk players?
While I appreciate your sentiments here, the "log in to win" events happen at our peak times for the UK. And the assumption that we don't do anything is a tough pill to swallow because 99.9% of the time we use physical data especially locational data when creating events and times for events.
Not to mention it's actually more flexible for the players in the UK (having 2 times one evening and one late night) as opposed to mid-day and evening.
They happen at approximate times around 2pm and 7pm. And we analyze all the numbers that are associated with these events to make sure we are giving out the maximum number of prizes based on previous trend history.
We could have done them at 10am and 9pm but then we wouldn't be giving out as many prizes and it wouldn't be as consistent for players in the EU and UK.
Almost all other events are timed based on the EST clock, but they still are active for the full day. So if something starts at 12:01am EST then it begins at 5am for the players in the UK and goes until 5am the next day.
For all our events we make sure to give equal opportunity to all our players based on time zones and accommodate them as best as possible (for example, our golden gun tournaments had plenty of different times during the day and multiple days to play). We realize this isn't going to involve 100% of the players, but we always try to create events that make them available to all.
As far as working specifically with the ESL. We have only ever been approached by general automated league runners through their site and have provided plenty of sponsorship and promotion. We have sent the wire to X-trap numerous times and it would seem that it is not a simple fix. But we have barely, over the course of the last year, been approached by players in the UK who are running tournaments out of the ESL. But we have continued to support and sponsor (when we can) the ones we have heard of and have made a special section on our forums for the ESL to continue to allow them to grow.
It just seems that there is a lot of complaining going on and not a lot of proactive action. We get approached by people all the time to help promote and sponsor tournaments and when we can we try to accommodate that. We'll be working on an even better way for the players to get in touch with us for these events. However there is an attitude from some people that seems to be "Hey look at me I made an event why is no one paying attention?". That could be because they haven't been proactive enough to promote the event.
This is getting overly long. So the point here is that everyone needs to be proactive about promoting the competitive play. Z8Games is not fully responsible for this kind of stuff, however we are more than accommodating and work to help as much as we can.
And for general events an promotions we never leave out the UK. We always look at our data and create events and use times that work for peak times in both regions. -

Thanks!
and by the way, I really love that you guys are trying to pursue a better competitive environment for the game you are hosting instead of just being money hungry fiends.

1AM is a peak time? o.O Strange When im on at 1AM the servers are usually starting to empty around that time I've found[GM]Saidin wrote: »Almost all other events are timed based on the EST clock, but they still are active for the full day. Those kind of event I dont mind as yes we still get 24 hours (or more) to complete those events its just the time specific events i dont really understand.[GM]Saidin wrote: »We get approached by people all the time to help promote and sponsor tournaments and when we can we try to accommodate that.
I was thinking about getting in contact about arranging a GM tournament but things got busy IRL so dont have the time for that at the moment but maybe at a later date I will get in contact :P -

You are referring to the 7pm EST time then? That would translate to midnight in the UK.
However I am referring to the 2pm EST time that we do log in to wins on. Or even 1pm EST. Which translates to something around just after the dinner hour in the UK, (early evening). Peak times for our game run in the afternoon for us here in NA because we are combining the after-school and after-work crowds with the evening/night crowds in EU and UK.Those kind of event I dont mind as yes we still get 24 hours (or more) to complete those events its just the time specific events i dont really understand.
We do both. The log-in style events should have a pretty obvious strategy behind them. We want people to log in at a specific time. The reason doesn't really matter, but its obvious we are trying to get as many people to play at X time as we possibly can.I was thinking about getting in contact about arranging a GM tournament but things got busy IRL so dont have the time for that at the moment but maybe at a later date I will get in contact :P
While I don't want this to sound too much like an accusation, this is often the problem we see with players who complain that we aren't doing anything for them. It turns out they were just too busy with other things and couldn't participate or didn't have the time to promote or whatever the case may be. And have just expected the rest of the world (including us) to handle that aspect for them.
We would love to see a player-organized GM tournament, even one coming out of the UK! Logistically for us it is very difficult to mass promote our own tournament as the number of signups would be astronomical and we would be playing well in to august of 2012! But to see player-run tournaments is great for us and we'd love to help out people who take the time to organize them with some additional prizes, or some extra promotion. -

I still can't believe there's only live 3 or 4 good teams there.
Are we just the best version or do all this others just suck?
Why would Korea waste their time on such a bad game? They be balling horrible kids on sc2 and some other crazy games like tetris.
