The Competitive Forum Section
"This section is not an off-topic section"
"This section is not the clan recruitment section"
Two very common phrases coming out of the mouths of Z8 staff. Two very INCORRECT statments.
The competitive community of any game is a very unique part of the entire community. The players in this group all try to get better at the game. They value their skill at the game highly, and constantly try to gauge said skill against other players, in order to establish an idea of how good they are.
On the other side of the fence, you have what makes up the majority of the playerbase: the casual players. These players play the game just to play. Although they may value their current skill, they have no interest in dedeicating time to improve said skill, nor do they care to compare their skill against other players on the same level that competitive players do. Casual players play to have fun, to log onto CF, possibly with a few friends, and kill some pixels.
Both of these communities have many things they differ in due to this key difference. They way they treat players in their own community, and players in the other community and very different. What they discuss and what they come on the forums for are very different. The groups of people they look to interact with (Clans and Teams) are very different.
SO WHY DO YOU INSIST ON TRYING TO MERGE THESE TWO VERY DIFFERENT GROUPS?

We can't really make a subsection in Competitive for every real section there is because you don't want to mix with "those people".
I think this system has worked fairly well - most competitive discussions are indeed held here, obviously misplaced "lft"-threads are moved to where they belong, threads that obviously have no Crossfire-relation (with exceptions even) are moved to ot.
You can be a unique flower even without discussing the latest jay-z album in this section instead of the proper one. -

Making subsections is not what this thread is about.I think this system has worked fairly well - most competitive discussions are indeed held here, obviously misplaced "lft"-threads are moved to where they belong, threads that obviously have no Crossfire-relation (with exceptions even) are moved to ot.
My point is that a section dedicated to the competitive community itself would be of more effect than a section dedicated to competitive discussion. You can be a unique flower even without discussing the latest jay-z album in this section instead of the proper one.
Wtf is a "jay-z" -
So in reality what you're asking for is?
The competitive section to be an area where competitive people can post w/e the **** they want to so long as it pertains with the general forum guidelines.
You take all the fun out of purposefully vague threads, you know that right? -
Meh.
Non-crossfire stuff is moved to OT to discourage posthunting.
Properly competitive guides and stuff that pertains to competitive but not the general public can by all means be kept here.
Haven't had my morning coffee and smoke yet. :<
Who in the Competitive section cares about postcounts?
The moment a pubstar or someone posthunting posts (unlikely), they'll get the **** flamed out of them.
And I was referring to lft threads as well, just clarifying. -
while we're at it, let's make a section for people that only play hero mode. and another for team death match. and another for people that use awms. and another for qbzs. and another for white people. and another for asians. and another for ZP buyers. and another for people that play on laptops.
that way all hero mode players can talk about which youtube videos they like to watch. they must be different from the rest since they play hero mode.
that way white players can talk about which sport stars are their favourite. they must be different because they are white.
flawed logic. -

You're stupid. That's like saying the similarities between forks and knives are on the same level as the similarities between forks and metal girders.
The mentality of the players is a much larger factor than what mode they play. If Escape or TDM ever became competitive, they would apply to the competitive section. -

The mentality of the players is a much larger factor than how they play the game.
Every one is different is why the forum sections are the way they are.
off topic is for off topic. no matter how you play crossfire. -

Competitive players are most likely going to communicate differently than public players, no matter what the topic.
This does not hold true between public TDM players, and public MM players. -
I really don't see what would change with this.
lft-threads could probably be here, although "lft xfire me" threads would be deleted (the standard is expected to be kept higher here)
well-made guides for a competitive audience could probably be here too.
non-crossfire related threads will never be allowed outside OT
But I mean, Clan discussion is two clicks away and keeping them there keeps this section at least marginally clean, plus theres more leniency there than there would be here.

By allowing the competitive player to post practically all of their threads in one section to speak specifcally to other competitive players, that community flourishes more than if they have to be spread out amongst a counter-productive environment. -

proof?
white people communicate differently than black people. 20 year olds communicate differently than 12 year olds, guys communicate differently than girls. etc etc
there's so many groups of people in this game and you want your own section because you think you're a special type of player that's sick of youtube videos being moved to off topic? no. -

Not counting recruiting threads and off-topic.
Plus this thread is looking scary.
"Socializing with them is counter-productive"
"We don't want anything to do with them"
"Keep them over there and us over here"
"They don't talk like us" -
-
proof?
Ijji SF boards, perfect example.
UrT Official forums vs FTWgl forums, perfect example.white people communicate differently than black people. 20 year olds communicate differently than 12 year olds, guys communicate differently than girls. etc etc
If the game was second life, you'd have a point. Unfortunately it isn't. (let's see if you can extrapolate)there's so many groups of people in this game and you want your own section because you think you're a special type of player that's sick of youtube videos being moved to off topic? no.
I want the the two biggest groups with the biggest differences that normally damage the growth or experience of one another to be able to flourish without hindering one another. -
I would say the biggest issue I have with this situation if the LFT threads. LFT does pertain to the competitive scene. It's competitive discussion, since they partake in competitive play. Most of the people in clan section do not. I really don't want to join CF Gunners no matter how many times he posts on a thread.
I think allowing LFT in the least would be beneficial.
Denxi's arguments may be valid, but I have no idea to what extent and if it is that important. -
I think you should just let competitve LFT threads in the competitve part. There's no harm done...go to clan discussion look at the people trying to find a TEAM not a CLAN and yet the clans with 50+ people post trying to get them, the competitve people say no and the pub stars get mad.

I could go for that. -
