... more than 100 activist groups, labor unions and other progressive organizations have pledged to participate in the rally and march. Rhadames Rivera, vice president of the SEIU Local 1199, told Downtown Express Monday that more than 12,000 union members are signed up to participate, and that number was likely to grow dramatically throughout the week.

Thousands of Occupy activists descend on New York as part of biggest May Day protests in nation's history.
Thousands of Occupy Wall Street activists have swarmed banks and blue-chip companies in New York City as part of the movement's massive May Day protests across the country today.
In a deliberate attempt to bring large-scale European-style May 1 protests to America for the first time, Occupy called for a general strike, urging workers to attend marches rather than work.
The biggest swell of defiance is in New York, where protesters are planning to bring the city to a halt by blockading major arteries like the Brooklyn Bridge.
Activists brandishing banners with anti-capitalist slogans swarmed picket lines at the Chase Building on Park Ave, while others gathered behind barricades at the Bank of America tower at Bryant Park.

In 2010, JPMorgan gave the New York City Police Foundation the largest donation it has ever received -- $4.6 million. They outfitted over 1,000 officers with state-of-the-art laptops and communications tools. Donations are large and ongoing from Wall Street to the cops to this day... and one has to ask -- Is this not turning New York City's police department into the largest de-facto privately funded anti-protest army in the United States?
Will justification for police violence be concocted, as exampled by the police and the military actions taking place even today against protestors in Greece, Spain and the Middle East? Will the suppression of the "American Spring" begin on May Day?

Included in the trailer is a single shot of an unidentified person wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, the unofficial symbol of Anonymous, shown while the narrator explains that "the enemy can be anywhere and can be anyone."
The brief reference to the online hacktivist collective which has made a name for itself by fighting censorship and human rights abuse online but also for simply hacking websites "for the lulz," had self-proclaimed Anonymous members responding almost immediately. Anons quickly took to Twitter to voice their reactions to the news that they might be an enemy in the latest "Call of Duty" title.

The federal probe that resulted last night in the arrest of five purported anarchists for allegedly plotting to bomb an Ohio bridge began last year at an Occupy Wall Street rally in Cleveland that was infiltrated by an informant who was directed to attend the event by his FBI handlers. It was at the October 21 OWS event that the informant first met Douglas Wright, 26, who reportedly confided details of his group’s planned attacks “against corporate America and the financial system,” according to court filings.
Pictured right, Wright eventually served as the informant’s bridge to the four other men busted in the bombing plot--despite the fact that the quartet was “unsure” about the snitch for whom Wright vouched. Of the five men arrested, four were involved in the Occupy Cleveland movement, according to their Facebook profiles, a news story, and a federal criminal complaint.
Other highlights, as it were, from the U.S. District Court records include:
As the alleged plotters batted around assorted attack ideas--like bombing a “Nazi/Klan headquarters” or blowing up a Federal Reserve bank--Wright joked that he would wear a suicide vest and blow himself up, “but advised he would have to be very drunk.”
A local Justice Center was considered a good target, but a bombing there was rejected since the accused plotters believed “they would risk hurting inmates.”
Wright suggested using Google Maps to figure out the area near the Cleveland-area bridge “where the bombs will be dropped and the get-away route."
Defendant Brandon Baxter, 20, mused that if the plotters were caught, “they will all go to Guantanamo Bay” and not a “normal prison.”
Baxter also “suggested getting tacks that they could throw out of the back of the car if they get in a chase.” This getaway tactic was last successfully used in a Batman episode from 1967.
"Occupy" Movement Was Infiltrated By FBI Informant In Cleveland Bridge Bombing Probe
CNET learns the FBI is quietly pushing its plan to force surveillance backdoors on social networks, VoIP, and Web e-mail providers, and is asking Internet companies not to oppose a law making those backdoors mandatory.
The FBI is asking Internet companies not to oppose a controversial proposal that would require firms, including Microsoft, Facebook, Yahoo, and Google, to build in backdoors for government surveillance. From the FBI's perspective, expanding CALEA to cover VoIP, Web e-mail, and social networks isn't expanding wiretapping law: If a court order is required today, one will be required tomorrow as well. Rather, it's making sure that a wiretap is guaranteed to produce results.

At the conclusion of his speech, the Tribes presented Obama with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name, "Walking Eagle." The proud President Obama accepted the plaque and then departed in his motorcade to a fundraiser, waving to the crowds. A news reporter later asked the group of chiefs how they came to select the new name they had given to the President.

Free Drugs from the Law!
As a part of a police training (DRE) program in the State of Minnesota, people are being experimented on and observed while being given drugs by a police action squad representing many different counties and cities across the State.
From all appearances, people are being told they can have free drugs in downtown Minneapolis by police from other areas without juristiction in the city. They are then taken to a facility where they can get high while under police observation.

Reality Check! - USADuke wrote:GAP's Radack: "CIA whistleblower John Kiriakou blew the whistle on 'waterboarding' and refused to engage in torture, but is the only person to be criminally prosecuted in connection with the Bush-era torture program"
(Washington, DC) – On April 3, 2012, the Obama administration indicted intelligence whistleblower John Kiriakou. Kiriakou is the sixth whistleblower that the Obama administration has charged under the Espionage Act for the alleged mishandling of classified information – more than all past administrations combined. In a rare move, the indictment was sealed until today.
Kiriakou is a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) veteran who headed counterterrorism operations in Pakistan after 9/11, organized the team operation that captured suspected al-Qaeda operative Abu Zubaydah, and refused to be trained in torture interrogation tactics. In December 2007, Kiriakou gave an on-camera interview to ABC News in which he disclosed that Zubaydah was "waterboarded" and that "waterboarding" was torture. Kiriakou was one of the first CIA officers to label waterboarding as torture, and his interview helped expose the CIA's torture program as policy, rather than the actions of a few rogue agents. Kiriakou further exposed the CIA's torture program and the CIA's deception about torture even to its own employees in his 2009 book, The Reluctant Spy: My Secret Life in the CIA's War on Terror.

Law enforcement officials put a state trooper on paid leave, launched a criminal probe into a Hutchinson officer and halted a police training program Wednesday after allegations that officers gave civilians marijuana to smoke in front of them.
The response comes a week after Occupy Minneapolis activists released a documentary video alleging that officers routinely offered people drugs as part of a program that trains officers to recognize drug use. State officials initially said they found no evidence of misconduct.
Following an inquiry by the Star Tribune, the agency announced an internal affairs investigation into allegations against State Trooper Nick Otterson

Twenty-six officers from 18 agencies participated in last week's training in Minneapolis and Richfield. Law officers paid visits to Peavey Plaza, site of the recent Occupy protests, to find subjects for their training exercise.
At least three of those subjects have come forward publicly to say the training exercise went well beyond the law. Jay Roland, who was at Peavey Plaza in Minneapolis on Wednesday, said law enforcement agents gave him the drugs -- twice.
A full bag of weed'
The shocking allegations emerged last week with the announcement at a Minneapolis City Council meeting of a 35-minute video, produced by a group of Occupy and police watchdog activists.
Two sheriff's deputies took him to the 6th Street parking garage, he said. Bounds said he was let out of the car, told to sit on a curb and one of the deputies then packed Bounds' pipe for him. "I smoked two or three bowls until I was quite high," he said.
The deputies handed him a bag of marijuana after he agreed to become an informant. He said he later reneged on the deal but kept the drugs. "There's one thing that I won't do and that's betray my friends," he said. -

Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

The year of the Alien.
The filmmakers behind “Revelations of the Mayans 2012 and Beyond,” who said that their film will reveal evidence of contact between the Mayans and extraterrestrials, have now released to TheWrap what they claim is photographic evidence of a pre-Mayan, alien civilization.
And they claim they’ve got Stephen Hawking on their side.
Producer Raul Julia-Levy supplied a photo (left), which he says was taken in southern Guatemala in the 1930s, showing a head carved in the jungle.

Mothers Day?
Twas Mothers Day in certain places, in some places 'Only a Mother could love ya!'
Anyhoo, this particular time, my whole family is around the kitchen table eating, chatting, drinking etc and her phone rings from inside her massive, tote sized purse. She panics while sifting through the various pockets, junk etc. , frantically trying to find her phone while it continues to ring. Eventually she gives up and lifts the entire bag to the side of her face and starts screaming "HELLLO!??!? ARE YOU THERE!???! HELLOOO!??!?! I CANT HEAR YOU!!!!!!" ...
To this day at my house, over a decade later, any time a phone rings, my siblings and I immediately pick up the nearest inanimate object and start yelling "HELLO!?? ARE YOU THERE?!?! ITS ME KAREN I CANT HEAR YOU!!!".

The War Against Youth.
Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, human potential has been consistently growing, generating greater material wealth, more education, wider opportunities — a vast and glorious liberation of human potential. In all that time, everyone, even followers of the most corrupt or most evil of ideologies, believed they were working for a better tomorrow. Not now. The angel of progress has suddenly vanished from the scene. Or rather, the angel of progress has been sent away.

I had to share this.Duke wrote:How FBI Entrapment Is Inventing 'Terrorists' - and Letting Bad Guys Off the Hook
This past October, at an Occupy encampment in Cleveland, Ohio, "suspicious males with walkie-talkies around their necks" and "scarves or towels around their heads" were heard grumbling at the protesters' unwillingness to act violently. At meetings a few months later, one of them, a 26-year-old with a black Mohawk known as "Cyco," explained to his anarchist colleagues how "you can make plastic explosives with bleach," and the group of five men fantasized about what they might blow up. Cyco suggested a small bridge. One of the others thought they’d have a better chance of not hurting people if they blew up a cargo ship. A third, however, argued for a big bridge – "Gotta slow the traffic that's going to make them money" – and won. He then led them to a connection who sold them C-4 explosives for $450. Then, the night before the May Day Occupy protests, they allegedly put the plan into motion – and just as the would-be terrorists fiddled with the detonator they hoped would blow to smithereens a scenic bridge in Ohio’s Cuyahoga Valley National Park traversed by 13,610 vehicles every day, the FBI swooped in to arrest them.
How FBI Entrapment Is Inventing 'Terrorists' - and Letting Bad Guys Off the Hook Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/blogs/national-affairs/how-fbi-entrapment-is-inventing-terrorists-and-letting-bad-guys-off-the-hook-20120515#ixzz1v5E2Av53
Right in the nick of time, just like in the movies. The authorities couldn’t have more effectively made the Occupy movement look like a danger to the republic if they had scripted it. Maybe that's because, more or less, they did.
The guy who convinced the plotters to blow up a big bridge, led them to the arms merchant, and drove the team to the bomb site was an FBI informant. The merchant was an FBI agent. The bomb, of course, was a dud. And the arrest was part of a pattern of entrapment by federal law enforcement since September 11, 2001, not of terrorist suspects, but of young men federal agents have had to talk into embracing violence in the first place. One of the Cleveland arrestees, Connor Stevens, complained to his sister of feeling "very pressured" by the guy who turned out to be an informant and was recorded in 2011 rejecting property destruction: "We're in it for the long haul and those kind of tactics just don't cut it," he said. "And it's actually harder to be non-violent than it is to do stuff like that." Though when Cleveland's NEWS Channel 5 broadcast that footage, they headlined it "Accused Bomb Plot Suspect Caught on Camera Talking Violence." -
