Please don't use the clan system.

Any competitive team that doesn't play for fun is doing it wrong.
Actually, any competitive team that doesn't have fun playing is doing it wrong.
your way doesn't necessarily mean it's the right way... nobody is going to drop the clan tag just because some guy believes that is the best motive for "competitive" teams. it's a benefit to have for a little cost. people in css make groups to designate what team a certain player is on... -
Friends list/vent.
And since WOGL is the only thing that matters atm, I don't see how having a clan with Z8 affects that.
some people do not want to look through a page of 50 people to find a clanmate when they can click a tab and see them automatically.
yes you can call your friends too. why do people use facebook and other social networking sites, aim, etc... same principle -

It isn't a motive for anything. Please re-read my reasoning (if you would like me to quote it again I will) and respond when you fully understand it, or rephrase your post to something relevant.some people do not want to look through a page of 50 people to find a clanmate when they can click a tab and see them automatically.
So because some people have a **** ton of friends, Ventrilo doesn't exist? -

ventrilo exists and all the teams still use clan chat. what's so hard to understand lol. it's a bonus; not a replacement. -

You have yet to present reasoning that proves the value of clan chat over Ventrilo. If you cannot present such reasoning, your statement that clan chat is a bonus is unproven, as Ventrilo is already assumed to be under use, as it is aspiring "competitive" teams we are speaking of.
I can have one bottomless glass of soda, or a different bottomless glass of the same soda. -

it doesn't prove the value of clan chat over Ventrilo. people tend to use clan chat for many reasons such as typing up a pass that is much easier to be visualized than heard. the invite system/play together in which one doesn't have to go through his entire friends list back & forth to invite 4 members.
You have no reasoning behind the use of a clan system being a bad thing. and i know you you'll probably respond with that quote again. mentality is within a person. if this affects the person mentally then they must have a disorder or something. -

The password? Yes, that is an advantage. However the entire mentality change that the clan system causes is a blatant imbalance, and the 10 seconds you save from type /w name is 10 seconds.

So what you're saying is, that someone's personal opinions and goals CANNOT be affected by an outside influence, unless they have a disorder.

I still don't understand the whole "pressure and expectations to do well" thing, which is, according to you, the one advantage of not using the clan system. Let's say you are under pressure by being in an "official" clan. So just by removing that tag after your IGN, it also removes the pressure? If you are understood and known by people to be part of a team, then you are part of a team, with or without you applying to a clan and as such expectations are put on you

the clan system brings no mentality change lol. just like lady gaga's disco stick will not change the music i prefer.
if you have a mind of your own and can think for yourself then no you will not be affected by an outside influence. -

My point is that, by not using the clan system, you're more inclined to just play with people you enjoy playing with because you enjoying playing the game with them. By attaching the "team" tag to your group of friends, you apply pressure that should not be there.
If you already are under a team tag, this does not apply to you. This only applies to people who are interested in playing competitively with a group of people. -

well all the teams nowadays have a clan -

So you're saying that if you're not in a clan, you're playing for more fun than if you were in a clan.
Okay? -

Which is why they should disregard this until they are looking for a new team.So you're saying that if you're not in a clan, you're playing for more fun than if you were in a clan.
Okay?
Yep. Well, if you play competitively that is. Read the thing I was quoting earlier if you haven't. -

That really doesn't make any sense. Maybe you have this mentality, but not every one else does. I was still play as much for fun now as I did when it was closed beta. Adding a clan into the equation makes no difference to me. It's simply a tag behind your name.
EDIT: If anything, I enjoy playing more WITH a clan because it gives your 'group' of friends an identity. -

And your mentality/maturity/intelligence is a hard find in CF. The thread really only applies to the majority of the "competitive" community that probably won't read this thread, or will just be too stupid to understand it.
I like redundancy apparently. -

But if you are indeed a "competitive" team, and when you scrim, practice, or play a league match, you ARE part of a team, whether or not that tag is there. You are playing as a team and you are known as being part of a team. Even if your team is unofficial and really is just a group of friends playing for fun, when you sign up for a league, you must sign up under a team name. Even if you go by "denxi's team" it doesn't change anything -

yes and when they leave the team they will want to join another team which to no surprise already has a clan. and it's a cycle that will never stop until several team disband simultaneously. and even then none of them will decide "hey let's not make a clan cause it's fkin with my mind" lol
dude it's a trend that will never end. ya a person can walk several miles to school but why would they do that when there is public transportation/car. these things are "minor luxuries" and do not harm anybody at all.
as dag and a few others have said... having a clan name on the left side of the scoreboard doesn't do anything with your mentality. that's all i'm going to say for this topic cause you aren't making any sense whatsoever. time to go study for finals -

Er, you do realize we're not talking about team names, right?

It will and I already explained my reasoning, which you still haven't bothered to try and find a flaw with. All you have said is that it IS flawed, without pointed out said flaw. -

my point is that whether you go by the clan name or team name, it is basically the same thing, and should result in the same mentality. Sorry if I seemed to go on a little tangent, this thread is getting harder to follow than inception
