Not at all.

Americans gained independence aka kicked them out. Canada is still technically owned by the British. Just as Austrailia is.

Of course, them Brits won't enforce this, but its still in them books.

i remember my AP history teacher telling they were technically not independent, he explained why but i forgot, hell that was 3-4 years ago..
