Call me what you wish but I'm actually scared
I didn't believe it either, but these sort of things are starting to look creepy and too close for comfort.
We're in March 2011 and already we have had floods and earthquakes in a few parts of the world. I also heard about this big ass comet that's gonna close orbit the earth wherever it's true or not I dunno.
I ain't the sort of mad person that goes around saying the end is nigh either, I'm just saying it's a bit too freaking weird.
This book was published 1996-10-24 so there is no way they are going off what has already happened.
Make your own minds up.

Don't be scared we are going to die one way or another:)
But if this is true, then we'll die together. Nothing to lose;)
I know but I don't think it's the end of the entire world, I think a few will survive, it will just be a new start type thing, well I hope so anyway -
Well I hope when it happens..or whatever happens..all man kind get's wiped out.
We do more harm then good.
Speak for yourself. I dont want to go just yet, and I have a wee daughter I wont be wanting to let down as well as my other loved ones. I have been studying up on this for a while now and Iam not going out without a fight.

DW, I think it will be more of a wake up call than a wipe out
@Duke
Neither am I, I've barely even lived yet and there's so much I wanna do with my life, I even want kids of my own at some point so, yah I'm with you on that one.

The thing is, these are all written in such a way that it makes it sound true.
The words are twisted... accidently or intentionally to make sense with the Mayan calander thing.
Natural disasters have always happened. Go look up natural disaters and read on when and where and how often these things happen. They happen alot.. media often twists it to sell/ratings etc etc.
Tsunamis are generally caused by underwater earthquakes, and an eartquake this powerful was bound to cause chaos. There have been much much worse disasters than what has happened within the last 10 years or so.
People are trying to fit everything around the Mayan calander ending on Dec 2012. But most of it doesnt really add up...
The mayans didnt have just one calender. The one being referrd to is their Long Count one which did go up to Dec 21 2012. This was converted from their time measurement to our existing calender.
The Mayans have also stated dates exceeding 2012, at least well into the year 4000...
If they were so amazingly accurate in their predictions.... why didnt they predict their own demise?
Besides most predictions about the end of the world have been proven false...
MANY before the year 2000, and many after.. we're still here.. all based off of apparent "prophets". Chances are they were being paid for these predictions and hearing of the end of the world bought in good money.
Most predictions are vague and can apply to any number of situations... Nostradamus for example predicted 911 and the rise of Hitler but the explanations he gave were incredibly vague and more modern people saw certain similarities and tried to fit it around the predictions and go "OMG HE WAS RIGHT!" His prediction about the end of the world proved false... although it was an error in translation.. and after the "end of the world" the translations wrre checked and found to be wrong...
How do we know the scientists got it right? The Mayan calender certainly doesnt say, 21st December 2011.
Also this day seems to be quite convinient and falls on the Winter Solstice.
TL;DR?
Mayans were trolls -

Stop worrying. There are floods, earthquakes and other disasters all the time. There have been worse ones before, there will be worse ones in the future.[MOD]Giggletron wrote: »The mayans didnt have just one calender. Not to mention the date of 12/21/2012 could be wrong. Recent calculations add 104 years to the calendar.
Even if you believe all the BS about the end of the world predicted by the maya, unless you plan on living until 2116, you should be fine.
I'm personnally more worried about what humans may do in the future what with overpopulation, wars, terrorism, bad hollywood movie adaptations and grittier reboot of gritty reboots, iPhone 25, alien encounters, etc. -

Yep I said that
Dont forget how the music industry is going... Anyone seen The Happening? Instead of some gas made by trees making people suicide, it will be the sound of Justin Beiber and Rebecca Black doing a duet -

I agree with Giggle
The "end of the world" was predicted over a million times
There is only one fact
People see what they want to see
They believe the Mayan calendar and in their eyes everythings fits to the prophecies
It is proved that the world will be destroyed in 5-6 billion years due to the sun
So we should not worry
Also the greatest disasters happened a long time ago
The "Black Death" that costed Europe 25 million people for example
And yet we survived it
IMO there are greater chances for me to become a MOD than for the world to be destroyed in 2012 -

There are more chances for a RL Star Wars then for the world to be destroyed
Earthquakes happen every day
But they are too small to be noticed -

I freeking lol'd so hard
But seriously nothing lasts forever, and things seem to get worse every time something big happens, but then again it could be because I'm getting older and you just realise things more
-_- I dunno I'll have to go and have another think about it -
There is the theory that it is all a lie to fool us into believing we are threatened by Aliens. This was portrayed in the graphic novel "The Watchmen". The reasoning being that an outside world threat would unite the world. An agenda that is called the N.W,O. (New World Order) secretly pushed by the "Illuminati". I just dont know what to believe anymore!

W.T.F.K!
No one knows what to believe
If it's real, the government wont tell us, it'll be "Save your own arses because we don't care" when the time comes. -

Building No.7 was the house of all the legal documents in investigations against high ranking officials.
Same with the Pentagons explosion, conveniently where they had records for illegal activities. -

But dont get caught up in the propoganda of religion! -
There's been earthquakes, floods, heatwaves, year-in year-out since times began.
I'm gonna treat this exactly the same way I treated Y2K, the 'Castle Romeo Nuclear Detonations', the many many meteor predictions, 'Foot and Mouth', and everything else some obvious loose screws decided to preach.
May I refer you to this for further scrutiny.
End of the World has only been 'predicted' or 'forseen' a good 200 times or so and it's been happening since before Jesus was even born.
Nothing new, life goes on.
