Is English your first language? If not, use this: http://translate.google.com/polaarbare wrote: »I am having trouble understanding the steps.Mind going into more detail or a video would be awesome.
Anyways, after playing a bit more pub (because nobody in the clan wants to actually play), I noticed no real difference. Thanks anyways, and good luck to anyone else with an old pc... -

Spanish is my first language, but I speak english fluently. Both the same.
A picture guide would also be more helpful if you don't feel like making a vid. -
what it does is keep the game folder in a separate hard drive space. this, in turn, makes CF faster by creating a dedicated gaming environment (as long as you don't put any other programs on the partition).did it works? cuz i think it dont will change anytinhg!
believe me, read the other comments. it works

either install CF the correct way (without copying and pasting), check your volume settings in and out-of-game, or just reinstallhey it worked for me but when i go ingame the sound effects gradually diminish in volume... plz help...

Personally, I think there is still another efficient tool to partition a hard drive. Such as Partition Assistant, I just try to partition my hard drive through it. And there is an detail article about such operations-- Guidelines on how to partition a hard drive by Creating, Deleting, Formatting and Resizing Partition, still can find a free software—Partition Assistant Home Edition, worked well. Maybe I will try to use the tool you mentioned, too.
Thank you for sharing. -
This shouldn't work. All the partition does is rename some of your disk space as a different drive. All the information from both logical drives is still on the same disk being read off the same platters by the same heads. The access time to both drives is identical.
You would need a separate physical hard drive to make this work. I don't understand how people are getting more fps out of it. -
it's really simple: if the partition made is simply a blank hard drive, all of your CF data can be copied into it and rearranged to the fastest areas of the virtual hard drive. This shouldn't work. ensuring that CF is at the front means that your processor should be able to read the files easier, thereby raising FPS

Sup guys, i just discovered a viable way to increase your Crossfire FPS on most computers: hard drive partitioning!!
.
It's not nearly as hard as it sounds, and you don't have to go into the BIOS to do it
.
K, first off download this program, it's free and easy to use.
http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
All right, once you install the program, follow these steps exactly:
1) Click on your main hard drive (default C:) and select "resize partition"
2) Lower the total storage space by 3-4 GB (this'll help a lot later on)
3) Click OK
Next, go to "Unallocated Space", which should now read as the amount you put aside.
1) Click it and select "Create Partition" on the left side of the screen
2) Set the size to whatever you set aside in the first steps (i recommend 3 GB)
3) (optional) Name the drive and set it's letter
4) Make sure it's NTFS, and click OK.
Now exit the program, and a message should pop up asking if you want to apply the changes. Click "Apply All" or "Apply" and if it doesn't prompt for a reboot, restart your computer.
Now just let it do the rest
All right, now that the hard part's over, just take your Crossfire folder and copy it all into your new partition. After that:
1) Uninstall CF (since that's the one on the C drive, and it'll interfere if you don't uninstall)
2) After the copying's done, go into the folder and find "CF_G4Box.exe"
3) Create a shortcut of the .exe and put it on your desktop
And it's done!! Then use a defragmentation tool (I recommend Puran Defrag since it'll move every file of your new partition towards the fast end of the drive) to defrag any fragments (duh
).
Have fun, this should raise your FPS by 10-25 depending on the map and number of players
Comment, and tell me if this method worked for you
P.S. Use Gamebooster with CF after this whole process is done for a slight extra boost
I seriously doubt that this will work. Hard Drive partitioning is just making the computer recognize a set size of your HDD as a diff HDD...I think your drive is just fragmented as sht. Especially with those no-name providers like "Puran" =_O...Use Perfect Disk.
But I partition my hard drives all the time. You'll never get a fps boost cause of it really...If you guys stop spending so much time waiting/making guides for this and put it towards actual maintenance for your computer (Like you should be doing in the 1st goddamn place) threads like this blatantly showing that Defraging is one of the most beneficial things you can do besides a virus scan, won't be made. -
wow bro, read the post on the 5th page (post #47) where i explain how it makes your comp faster T_TI seriously doubt that this will work. I read it. Not Accurate AT ALL. A seperate gaming enviroment? Lawl...Same computer same thing as usual. All It's doing is eliminating all your usual fragmented files and giving you a unfragmented Hdd/partition. (I guarantee if you took out the defrag part of this guide, everyones frames will be the same) -
lol... the part that makes the game faster is moving it to the front of the partition, which lets the processor read the files faster, causing an increase in FPS.I read it. Not Accurate AT ALL. don't troll it if you haven't tried it.
