code error [01-0400-00000000-701] Unofficial thread
Well, as many of you have guessed, this is an unofficial thread mentioning all whom have this X-Trap error:
"code error [01-0400-00000000-701] The game security module cannot run properly"
Please post exactly what you have tried, so we can help the folks over at Z8games and Xtrap!
I have tried:
Cleanly uninstalling CF and Xtrap (took 2 hours to remove all traces), then reinstalling it.
Disabled my antivirus
Disable my Firewall
System Restore
Scanned through my processes
Manually tried running G4_box
Manually tried running crossfire.exe
Manually tried running bot instances of the patcher
Now your turn, if you are having this problem, post what you have tried, and if it worked, I might put it as the answer to the problems!
thanks in advance,
WolfDale
p.s. Proven to happen on Vista, XP, and Windows 7 (me), some people can still play CF, but the very few, can't.

I Did it
Hy Guys (and girls).
I intalled the game today, and started to get this error. I tryed some solutions suggested (using compatibility mode, run as administrator, etc)... Finally I went after the AntiVirus (I use BitDefender). First of all I turned off all protectcions, and the game started and worked as it should. So the problem was BitDefender. After that I try turning on one by one each proctection, and got to the solution: I have to turn off Antivirus and Antispam to play. Doing that I can play perfectly!
Hope this help someone
Good Luck!! -
Fix
The problem seems to be with Comodo, but i found the solution (no need to uninstall Comodo). Open Comodo and go to the Defense+ tab, then on the left side go to Advance and select Defense+ Settings, once there select the option "Deactivate the Defense+ permanently (Requires a system restart)" at the bottom and click Ok, it will ask for a restart click No. With this done you can now go play, when finished go back and remove the check mark just like it was before. I tried this because I remembered for some other game that used GameGuard, Comodo was causing a problem with the Gameguard version they where using (it restarted your computer) and this was the solution (until they fixed it later).
Not sure if everyone that has the problem has Comodo but those that do have it try this.
Have fun all. -
I recommend uninstalling comodo, because even when turned off, or closed, the process remains open, how can you see by pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL. I only got to play uninstalling ...
good luck to all!
ps: sorry for English by "google translate"
