Fix
The problem seems to be with Comodo, but i found the solution (no need to uninstall Comodo). Open Comodo and go to the Defense+ tab, then on the left side go to Advance and select Defense+ Settings, once there select the option "Deactivate the Defense+ permanently (Requires a system restart)" at the bottom and click Ok, it will ask for a restart click No. With this done you can now go play, when finished go back and remove the check mark just like it was before. I tried this because I remembered for some other game that used GameGuard, Comodo was causing a problem with the Gameguard version they where using (it restarted your computer) and this was the solution (until they fixed it later).
Not sure if everyone that has the problem has Comodo but those that do have it try this.
Have fun all. -

Apologies for not getting to this sooner.
We are in contact with Xtrap to see what they say about this specific problem.
My first idea would be that it's a program conflict somewhere, but if its a clean boot with just Cross Fire running then obviously it can't be just that.
Obviously reinstalls have been tried. Make sure when you DO reinstall the game to disable your AVG virus scanner while you do. -

After the x-trap update my antivirus (McAfee) found and removed 4 trojans from the x-trap files. Ever since these files were removed I cannot start CF with or without my anti-virus running. It seems that these supposed trojans were integral parts in the newest x-trap update. However, it is now impossible to fix this as the trojans were also subsequently removed and cannot be un-quarantined or allowed. A similar thing happened when x-trap was first installed. Why does x-trap function or use these supposed trojans?

No problem,at least xtrap is way better than gameguard, thats why i still play cf today..i managed to play again, just installed another antivirus, but as a suggestion for the future for xtrap devs(rly),make that extrap to show/say exactly what problem it has,or we should get something like an "dictionary" with xtrap's error codes, maybe we could fix this by ourselves(not the error, just to continuing play the game)
btw: i dont have avg,i dont liek that antiv :P -
