  • What anticheat is going to be used? Can we please have a link.
  • Good luck to all teams! Will be watching on Twitch!
  • Is there allotted time at the end of every month for make up games? Starting the league with a weeks notice has us all messed up :*(
  • Great. But fix the uk servers lagg first ?

    There have been improvements already, but if you're lag is out of the norm consistantly, then send us a ticket with the information you have, so we can have a better idea of what you are experiencing.

    Yes, the start of the league is abrupt. We had sent messages to the captains of the teams earlier to make sure that they were ready to start. We have not alloted any time for make up games, but this may change depending on the situation. Please remember that as per the rules, it will be -2 points for a no show. If there are conflicts, we strongly urge you to contact us so that we can find a solution together.

    The anti-cheat that will be used is Blackbox. We will send the links, instructions and the information to each team separately early next week.
  • with all the money you guys make and you still cant hire a coder to make your own anti-cheat. players were cheating last year on blackbox and it didn't catch them
  • yo yo this is sick!! Quick question though. Since matches are best of two's, when NA plays EU. Is one map on UK and one map on NA???

    Home team picks server for first map, away team picks server for second map

    So yes it most likely will be one map UK and one map NA, but theoretically it could also be two maps NA or two maps UK
  • Quick question, would the elite players be allowed to stream their matches themselves?

    Bad idea since that allows for ghosting but since this isn't specifically stated in the rules I guess some ballsy player can risk getting their team tipped off by one of their rival's buddy ... :)

    They are not allowed. We will edit the rules to state that, but this was implied when we said that only officials and casters are allowed to spectate. Any player caught streaming will, at the very least, forfeit that match.

    Just for Clarity, a competitor (the player in the match), is not allowed to stream his/her's own gameplay? Or is it more of denying any streamer like, x0tek or AWMazing for example, from having a spot to spectate and stream? Just curious, because the way you worded this response is kind of confusing.

    Does this include the matches that are not being officially cast?

    As far as I am aware, he means no players participating can stream, and no players who aren't part of the team will be allowed in the match. (Which means spectators wouldnt exist to stream anyway.)
  • Sigh, here we go again.

    Section 3.2.10 of the Elite League Ruleset needs to be reworked. Round differentials should not matter for determining the winner of a given match.

    Let me explain.

    If team 1 wins their map 10-5,

    they then only have to win 6 rounds on map 2 in order to win the game.

    This means that, frequently, teams will be in the situation of having no reason to finish their map #2, resulting in less gameplay, less practice, less stream time (and therefore less exposure of the competitive scene to a wider audience, potentially stunting its growth) and a disproportionate focus on the early parts of matches.

    In other words, let's say, with the situation above, that team #1 wins map 1 -- let's say Black Widow -- 10-3. They practiced really hard, and won that map in a dominating fashion.

    Then, map 2, they win 4 rounds in a row. The match, at that point, ends. There is no incentive for team #2 to continue playing, as they have already accrued a loss for the match. Yet, the map score does not accurately reflect the reality if that team quits out -- perhaps they fell for a few gimmicks in those early rounds, and would go on to win the map 10-4, or 10-5, still an almost equally dominant performance. Yet that team would have no incentive to try, or even continue playing, in the future rounds. Even if that team didn't immediately lose 4-0, this puts a disproportionate amount of focus on the first map in every single match, as it is the only opportunity for both teams to guarantee a full map of gameplay.

    I think a better method would be to calculate win-loss-tie using map scores. A team with 2 map wins, gets a win. A team with 2 map losses, gets a loss. Matches that split 1-1 are drawn. This incentivizes teams to try their hardest in every given round, no matter what the round differential of other matches may be -- this is especially important given that, frequently, one map will be played on the UK servers, and another on the Canadian server. Additionally, this change means that matches will always be played out to their fullest, with neither team throwing in the towel prematurely.

    If you're attempting to use round differential to determine seeding for future events (or any other purpose), then you should still keep those metrics on hand to track statistics. However, they should have no impact on the results of the matches at hand. This process requires no additional work outside of slightly changing the current ruleset -- which seems to be a straightforward step, given Juicebox's willingness to edit the rules to add the streaming clarification.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    On an unrelated issue in regards to player streaming.
    I can relate that you want as many people as possible tuning in to the "match of the week", or whatever you're calling the matches that are officially hosted by CFCL Elite. However, having limited viewing options only limits views.
    If you guys are worried about potential headaches of outside sponsors / streamers casting CFCL events (or even if you just want to take direct credit for the viewership numbers), then here's a simple solution; set up alternate, official CFCL Elite Player-POV streams for players. Then, distribute the stream keys for these channels to all of the Elite League players simultaneously.
    This way, players from non-match-of-the-week games can stream their matches at will (you can require a 5 minute delay, or certain broadcast/overlay rules, it's not hard to codify), and it increases the number of active channels you have under your brand every single week. It directly benefits CFCL Elite League by widening the platform and number of people you will interact with, helps broaden the reach of these events to support the community, it allows for more matches to be viewed by spectators, and it allows players interested in streaming their matches to continue to do so. It would take less than fifteen minutes to set all of this up, from writing the rules to creating the twitch accounts, and is a win-win for every party involved.
    If that's distasteful -- for some reason -- then simply provide a list of streamers allowed to broadcast their own POV. They can be officially designated by CFCL. You maintain all of the above benefits without any additional work.
    p.s. please don't keep banning me, I am just trying to improve the community when I post these things
    The reason they weren't caught cheating wasn't entirely because of blackbox :P
  • The reason they weren't caught cheating wasn't entirely because of blackbox :P
    What does that mean? Someone didn't check the logs?
  • if you lose map 1 badly on NA server for example or even just a map you're weaker on, the other team goes into the next map with a huge advantage as they only need a few rounds to take the match in UK and vice versa. would be better to just call it a tie based off map wins rather than having the exact same rounds imo.
    Ideally you also don't want your spectators to stream the match instantaneously too since those with connections to CFCL Elite teams will try to siphon off information from the spectators. If you guys do want to stream the match then there should at least be a 5 minute buffer zone (like x0tek suggested) between the real time and the output stream to avoid fraudulent play ...
    Players should also wait until their current match has ended to be able to upload their gameplays ...
  • Hey, another quick question. How are Maps determined?
    Well obviously, and the streamer can decide if they want a delay or not.
