As far as prizes go they're fine considering it's a recurring tournament
A bigger prize is nothing to complain about but I'd rather have more be funding towards having a LAN
I think all matches should be bo3 (except finals, bo5)
    Double elimination is good
Rules are fine, I think it would be nice to finally introduce a "no dq over stupid stuff" rule I.e don't dq someone for muzzle flash (it literally helps YOU if someone on the other team has it)
Not going to mention names, but there will always be cheaters, but as long as there's a gm in the room/it's being streamed I think we're fine
Going off that I think there should be a quick poll on which match should be streamed next
Armor needs to be redistributed (I would just give it out for a long time so you don't have to give it for 23 hours every match)
In addition to armor, any tournament edition weapons that would be allowed in coming qualifiers 100% should be given out MONTHS before said qualifier so players can actually practice.

If I think of anything else I'll add
  • Just a quick feedback here,

Very fun tournament me and my team enjoyed it a lot. Nothing too bad everything is good but the prizes in pro league should contain ZP and cash not just cash. When 6 or 7th place get nothing in pro league even though they finished 1st or second place in open league is a bit absurd.

I think of it like this and I hope this makes sense

    Pro league rank
    1
    2
    3
    .....
    6
7 (they don't get ZP even though they are a higher rank than 8)
    Open league
8 (1st place) they get ZP
    9

So what I'm saying is every spot in pro league should get some sort of prize. Also a boost of ZP amount is nice.

Also I agree with the idea of increasing the day of armor

Also anticheat. I forgot. There was a team who had a cheater (funny enough we beat them) who advanced to pro league and kept playing. Is there any way we could get a stronger anti cheat? There was a player who got caught because his cheat suck but there are some who got away and were playing in the pro league competing for real money which is unfair.
  • This may seem a bit ranty, but this is all valuable information I would like to get some public input on what I feel would be some huge strides towards combatting the other titles in the esports realm, and also pushing CF closer to the forefront of esports.

    • Prizes:

The prize pot is actually fairly good for our community size, however I feel like ALL pro teams deserve compensation for each cycle they play in. I know in other versions (Example: I talked with CFAL players at CFS) and they were telling me before any prizes each team receives a base compensation for making pro. Something like this would be a stronger incentive for not just the top 3 teams to stick around, and would actually make Pro a more realistic model of what other tier 1 titles do to incentivise their players.

Also something that could help (I know I have hinted at it before, but I know its something as a company smilegate will be hesitant to do) is crowdfunding through items and crates. Creating good skins, stickers, sprays, namecards, for all the teams in pro and using a portion of those sales towards competitive funding is something many other esports titles do, and is proven to be an effective way to grow prize pools, and also increase team awareness amongst casual players. This also gives more outside organizations incentive to sign pro crossfire teams, since it will give them more brand exposure within the game. This kind of cycle is how titles like Dota 2, CS:GO, LoL, Smite, and many more continue to outpace other titles and thrive.

The final thing for prizing id reccommend is event partners. Getting product or prize pool elevating sponsors is a great way to add incentives as well as increase viewership for events. Whether is be a peripheral sponsor from razer (IE like headsets or gear as added prize bonus) or partnering with companies to elevate the prize pool, all of these are things that are attainable, and will help increase the value of crossfire as an esports in NA / UK.

    • Format,Tournament Structure, Point system etc

The current system is good, its just not the best it could be. Tiered divisions Pro/Open are great, but all Pro matches should be best of 3 or more. I would also like to try more of a round robin style for pro, with a monthly seeded bracket the final week, rather than just weekly singles brackets. I think this will more accurately showcase who is consistently the best versus a variety of teams.

I would also like to see Live events for our version. We are by far the very worst version right now for live esports. We have had 2 expos of FFA Lans in the past year, yet no live esports event since 2015. To me this was odd, that we would showcase the game in a non-competitive light, and seemingly not try to push esports towards a live audience to attract new competitive players. Its proven that competition keeps players around longer than casual content, because you not only create passionate players, you create a passionate audience.

      Scope of Live events:

For those who don't know, CFEU is having a showcase at IEM Katowice. This is a BIG step for CF, and something we could mirror in our region with events like Dreamhack, ESL One, and IEM also having competitive expos annual in NA now. Dreamhack Austin or Dreamhack Montreal would be great choices IMO. This would give CF a chance to showcase esports in a spotlight it really hasn't before in North America since WCG.

Ideally, a CFCL pro showcase of 2-4 teams at one of these large expo events would be a huge step forward, and of course a LAN Playoffs for CFS 2017 should be a priority, since we were one of only 2 versions who didnt have a LAN Final for CFS 2016 Nationals. Also it would prevent any sort of hackusations towards our repsrentative team, and show who is our best live teams, and give us the best representation for CFS possible.

    • Rules

Rules in place are pretty solid other than the non-impacting items being grilled too much. I think we should really evaluate cosmetic items, and unban any of them that aren't giving players a distinct "pay to win" style advantage.

    • Anticheat

Its not to say Blackbox is bad, but its definitely not tier 1 quality. While its much better than things like ESL Wire (which worked poorly) or OCG AC (Which didnt work period) its still not to the level we need to be full proof against cheating. However as I mentioned above live events will reduce the ability for cheaters to represent NA.

    • Tournament Scheduling (dates, time and frequency of tournaments)

Weekends are by far the best time in General, and I am happy with the time frames we have in place. Sunday seems to be the best day for most NA, even if there exists a few exceptions.

Overall I think CFCL was a step in the right direction during S1, but I think S2 should really be about establishing a long standing and engaged audience, while also retaining and keeping our best players around, by making CFCL a league that offers all Pro players a real reason to stick around.

Hopefully this input helps spark even more ideas to benefit the community, and I look forward to helping run another CFCL Season, as we continue to push CF towards the pinnacle of esports.
  • Everything is great and well structured but for Anticheat, is there anyway you guys could get a better program that wouldn't just capture screenshots but also find players who have installed macros, aimlock, etc. I think that was a problem in CFCL Season 1 with a couple teams/players.
  • Blackbox does more than capture Screenshots, it has the ability to monitor what processes are running as well. So if someone is aimlocking on blackbox, you would see it as an active process. It flags processes that look suspicious as well.

100% agree with all of this.

    didnt catch remy
  • Everything zz said + fix the delay issues, maybe have penalties or something. It was getting annoying waiting 1.5 hours for a match to finish because of delays.

If I think of anything else I'll add

I'd also like to push the starting time back like an hour or two, to maybe 3-4 est
I 100% agree with the armor for larger amounts of days, because practicing without it is quite annoying,
As for the muzzle flame i dont think there should be a penalty for it.
As for AntiCheat, BlackBox is god awful. <-- maybe look around for something not terrible expensive.
Make sure CFS guns are still allowed.
The layout for matches was good, but bo5's for finals would probably be better

You guys did alot of things right though and im proud of yall, I had a great time in season 1 outside of the 2 teams that cheated. :)
  • UK perspective:

    Prizes

For the moment they seem pretty good but over time they would need to increase as competitive gets bigger. Also the prizes should be sent out much earlier in my opinion.

    Format,Tournament Structure, Point system etc

If you hold qualifiers for pro this season then I definitely think they should be BO3 or at least double elimination. We want the best teams to end up in pro, not lucky teams. For example, if the top 2 teams faced in round 1 of the qualifiers, 1 of the top 2 teams wouldn't end up in pro, unless you make it double elimination and BO3 just like the actual tournament should be. I liked the bo3 in winners bracket and bo1 in losers (double elimination) during pro last season, i'm not convinced about making losers bracket bo3 as that would cause delays. BO5 for finals isn't necessary for the weekly tournaments imo. I can understand having BO5 for the MONTHLYS or CFS where there's more money on the line but not a $14 each difference in prize :) Besides, the tournament would finish the next day lol.

    Rules

You should probably give warnings or take off 1 round for things like muzzleflame rather than disqualify, there should be a small consequence for failing to check storage before a match.

    Anticheat

I'm not saying it's perfect but imo it's on the higher end compared to other anti cheats we've seen. ESL Wire is notoriously bad, we've had way more problems on both NA and EU with wire in the past, at least blackbox has been busting people. Like others have said, it would be great to have some lans with the top pro teams from NA and UK, anti cheat wouldn't be a problem.

Tournament Scheduling (dates, time and frequency of tournaments)

I liked playing weekly during the weekend. 10am EST which is 3pm UK time was a pretty good start time. I definitely think that the seasons have to be more frequent, and if pro teams drop out I think the top open teams should be put into a bracket to play for the remaining pro spots. Having a season during Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter would be good.

    Overall fun factor

Remove 2.0 maps - 2.0 maps were added because Carbon said they were going to be part of CFS and that they were needed for practise. 2.0 maps weren't part of CFS and therefore are unnecessary, no one wants to play them and they're always banned during veto.

delays - It would be more fun if there was less waiting around, for example the tournament didn't always start on time.

functionality - It would be good if sometime in the future we're able to accept/kick players, make them starter/sub and change team name etc without having to make a thread or remake the team. I'd rather not have delays in order to make this happen though.

Prizes: Prizes are fine in my opinion, but you should definetly work on the payment time. I dont have anything against bigger prizes.

Format,Tournament Structure, Point system etc: Would be cool to have LAN Final in the end of each season. Prizes dont have to be bigger, but a lan final would be really sick and attract more players.

Rules: Rules are also fine in my opinion.

Anticheat: I like the Anticheat, but it is really annoying that the language of Blackbox is portuguese, because we do not understand the errors and other things. Would suggest to host it together with ESL. They would also helo with submiting the prizes.

Tournament Scheduling (dates, time and frequency of tournaments): Everything fine in my opinion.

Overall fun factor: Me and my team really enjoyed CFCL and are excited for it comeback!

Prizes: I would love to see a bigger prizepool, definetly.
Format,Tournament Structure, Point system etc: Everything is fine, but please do random brackets instead of brackets which attract many viewers. PENTA & F3 always had the best seed, what was kinda unfair. Also make a LAN Final like whiskedy said :D
Rules: Allow Team namechanges within the league, allow rooster changers within the league, but the rooster should have more then 50% of the old lineup.
Anticheat: I would also suggest to host it via ESL, it is also less work for you and since ESL bought ESEA they have the best Anticheat and it is free. It is also less work for you guys.
    Tournament Scheduling: Was perfectly.
Overall fun factor: I really enjoyed it, but the waiting for the prizes and that stuff like the namecards for the pro teams never appeard made it really annoying.

Prizes: The Prizes are nice but it would be nice if there could be a small price (€) in the open tournaments as well.

Format,Tournament Structure, Point system etc: A lan final would be awesome.

    Rules: The Rules are fine.

Anticheat: The Anticheat program is good but it would be nice if the language could be in english too.

Tournament Scheduling (dates, time and frequency of tournaments): The time is good for all UK/EU players.

Overall fun factor: It is a pretty nice idea to host this cups. A new season would be great.

  • Better Support

I really appreciate that you try to intigrate crossfire more in the esport scene, i just wannted to say that it would have a big improve if you add something like Organisation namecards, sprays, etc. because in my opinion more sponsores would have more interest in investing in Crossfire Teams.
  • InGame Items

Would be also sick, if you could add InGame Items like Sprays with the Logo of the Pro Teams, Namecards with Logos of the pro teams & weapons with the logo of the pro teams like at Crossfire Stars.

I would also love to see 30days BP for every pro team, because they are going to play 30days in the pro league and they also would like to practise within the week and not only on playdays.
  • prizes and finals

Prizes could be better and finals on a lan ;)
  • -Better prizes
    -Lan on finals
-change singup and team members system.
  • Teamw0w had their own namecard for CFS 2016. I was wondering why wasn't this ever added to the game?
  • -If possible, any amount of monetary prize for all pro teams (like zzxq said) would be ideal so open teams have an actual incentive to get better and make it into pro. But the bulk of the prize should still stay with 1st place
-The 2.0 maps are pretty bad. If cfs plans to integrate those maps then fine, but otherwise I'd prefer sticking to the standard map pool. Tournament structure for pro is good
-Might be a good idea to be more strict on enforcing grace periods because the delays were sometimes really bad. Also you should be more lenient on penalties for useless restrictions (e.g., backpacks)
-Any anticheat for CF will suck, and recording isn't viable unfortunately. Dunno
-Scheduling was fine, tournaments were fun

*Not a big fan of how the team page is setup. We should have the ability to kick members, change leader, change logo, etc, without sending a support ticket and having to wait. Roster locks are obviously good, but the leader should have more control
*Some type of LAN would be great, at least for CFS qualifier, but if there is one please make it during summer :)
  • Prizes: Prizes are fine a bit more would be nice but could you just give us some armor. Armor is kind of annoying to continuously buy over and over and over again so teams in the pro division should get armor for a long time.

    Rules: The Rules are fine.

Anticheat: The Anticheat program is ok just have someone check it like actually check it. If not then just buy ESG Mike's anticheat heard he was selling it

Tournament Scheduling (dates, time and frequency of tournaments): Time is fine

Overall fun factor: Tournament was awesome overall but could you take away the 2.0 maps they are really awful. Team page was god awful please let us take members out and have full control over the team (if your the lead)
  • Hello guys! iMonachus here.

    Prizes:

I really think the prizes are good and fair, but of course that it would be better if it increased...

    Format,Tournament Structure, Point system etc:

The tournament structure is actually very good imo. I have seen some feedbacks asking for a total bo3 bracket but it is impossible to make it in just one day imo.

    Rules:

The rules are also good, but I would change some things, like adding a warning list for things like muzzle flame, extra bullets, sprays, knifes, etc.

    Anticheat:

About the Anti-cheat I think it's the best anti-cheat we can bring into it, I guess only the ESL anti-cheat can beat BB and would be also good if you guys could make a partership with ESL Europe/UK and ESL North America to make the tournaments on their platform.

Tournament Scheduling (dates, time and frequency of tournaments):

I think the time (3PM UK) is actually very good and I vote to keep like this. I would only make a change in the qualifiers, instead of a bo1 single bracket, a double elimination bo3 WB, bo1 LB.

    Overall fun factor:

Waiting for the money/rewards for months is not fun at all, I would like to see you improving on this subject and pay it as would had planned, at the end of each month. You also asked for the team logos for some namecards that never existed, it was actually a great idea, but unfortunately has been forgoten. I really appreciated the weapons we won for being the S1 Champions, but I think you should add some monetary reward as well (it is unthinkable for example in CS, a team who wins a Pro League, receiving only a rare skin). And of couse, a LAN Final with the best 2 UK and best 2 NA teams would be awesome.

And I think it's all from my side! I'm really excited for the beginning of the new season!

    Regards.
  • Feedback

i think its everything nice, but on the rules there are some stupid rules like, the muzzle flame it doesnt affect the game so no need to DQ, the same goes to the knifes. The prizes could be better, like the best 4 teams of the CFCL UK and CFCL NA should play a grand final on LAN that would be sick! and good as well for the scene.

please dont change the anti cheat, there is nothing better than blackbox for crossfire atm.

i think its everything nice, but on the rules there are some stupid rules like, the muzzle flame it doesnt affect the game so no need to DQ, the same goes to the knifes. The prizes could be better, like the best 4 teams of the CFCL UK and CFCL NA should play a grand final on LAN that would be sick! and good as well for the scene.

please dont change the anti cheat, there is nothing better than blackbox for crossfire atm.

keep up the good work !

There's rarely ever a LAN for top 2
you think they're gonna do one for top 8 total

    XDDDDDD
  • The things Kyle listed are the main goals of this project "CFCL". If they were to happen, it would be phenomenal for the people still invested in this game. Overall, season 1 was run fairly well the biggest issue was the payment system. Teams and players want to be rewarded for their placement and participation as soon as possible. An admin could spend ~20 minutes with members after the tournament ends to sort out same day or week payment, which would really please the players. Just resolving this simplistic concept, would indefinitely have more people coming back week after week.

It is also clear that everyone is focused on improving the players experience, especially the competitive players that are left in this game. Although it may be harder compared to other games and under a restricted budget, there should also be a focus on advertising in game through events, contests, and billboards for the casual players. As the casual players grow in the open league, the pro league will also benefit with the increase attention.

My last suggestion would be to keep your community involved. Many community members were confused based on previous posts that the league would start wither in January or February. If an admin could give us a brief timeline of the new season, sneak peeks, contests, mumble discussions with top players, it would boost the morale of the community and ultimately bring in more players and involvement. It is clearly shown when bigger companies that operate games such as League of Legends, Overwatch, Counter Strike, and Dota 2, they understand that working with their casual and top players through every step can only mean one thing, mutual benefit. Counter Strike was a top game in the past and was a huge competition based game but eSports never broke out until Riot Games redefined eSports with their amazing organization and unparalleled community involvement and service, leading to a billion dollar industry.
  • Prizes: Prizes were ok, but you should definetly work on the payment time.

Format,Tournament Structure, Point system etc: Would be awesome to have LAN Final in the end of each season.

    Rules: are fine

Anticheat: worked without any big problems, the languague was anyoing.

Tournament Scheduling (dates, time and frequency of tournaments): were ok

Overall fun factor: excited for the new season
