I doubt that will be the case. If anything you're encouraging others to buy more tickets. Assume this auction was done in person, usually you can see into the raffle box or shake it to get a feel of how many tickets are in there. No one who actually wants to get an item is going to go "oh, I think there's already 500 tickets in this one, I better put in at least 100 for a shot at winning". Now a box with only 100 tickets in it, you might only put in 20.
By telling others how much you're planning on putting in, you're encouraging those who really want that item to also buy a decent amount of tickets. I'm pretty sure anyone else that wants what you're wanting isn't going to announce it, though, in fear that you're going to buy even more tickets. This, you're only hearing comments about people who won't be competing with you.
Anyway, I'm personally going to go for Kriss Super V. I think it'll be a fun fun to use in HMX.

No one who actually wants to get an item is going to go "oh, I think there's already 500 tickets in this one, let me just put in 5, I'm sure I'll have a good shot at winning". No, they would put in something more like 100. -
hmmmm... so let me think about this.... crossfire has boasted it has over a million players. Facebook likes over 2mil. F2P but 100zp easily obtained via surveys.... only 1 perm gun per day.... odds of winning each day...
