How did you learn to play GM?
Curious question to see how everyone got their humble beginnings, after all we all start from nothing. Remember the first time you went into a GM game and were overwhelmed by the breathing noise and the concept of bhopping?
Back in 2009 when the game was relatively new to North American, players were pretty much clueless about Ghost Mode. I actually was taught about ghost mode by Chinese and Vietnamese players. BEWE and the [D]ar[K][ clan if anyone here actually might remember those names. Things like how to pinpoint, what bhopping was and map tricks like boosting for the vents and the fastest routes from point X to point Y. Having daily/weekly clan training sessions was the norm. I highly doubt it's the same case now with the now apparent lack of new GM talent. I think now people just pick GM from simply playing the mode. That being said, how'd you personally get the hang of Ghost Mode?

Back when I was in Egypt and used to play on UK servers; used to call cheats because they always knew where I am. One player had enough of me and explained what PP and BD are. Then there was an event where they gave 7 day Katanas and it motivated me to learn bhop. Didn't become interested in GM until I joined EA and Andrew always played GM, so I started stalking him and became pr0.
Pretty much started how most players did. Tried a new mode, sucked at it big time, then tried harder and learned. -
Through simple trial and error, really.
I always kept a watchful eye on my Teammates back in the day and just sort of quietly evaluated the questions "Would camping that position make sense?" or "What could he have done better?" and stuff along those lines.
I've never really had the luxury of a teacher, so yeah. -
When I was first getting into the game I ran around SnD and TD pubs with my auto shotty, but I joined a pub clan with 2 solid GM players in it. After following them around GM pubs for awhile I decided to ask them how to actually be so good at the mode (I thought they cheated). So they spent a little time with me showing me how to pinpoint and bhop, but I only picked up on bhopping and pp still confused me. Later on (within the last 2 years) I've had 3 teachers (Oblivion, Adderall, .*_]-Z-[_*.) that all taught me something that I use to this day.

I use to suck big time; was one of those noobs who would run around and spray an ak. Had decent scores xD. Till a UK player told me about PP, he didn't show me or anything just explained how it worked. So over time I begin to get the hang of it somewhat. I was able to hear the breath just not the exact position so I just sprayed xD. After a time I got the hang of it a little more and was able to pp a little and was in a no name clan called "Cruelty" and for some odd reason Banned joined it. Banned was only in it 3days tops. But he CWed with us an he asked Exertus to CW us. Me and my clanie got trashed. I still remember who we played against. Pho?, i[A]narchy, & _BLaCkNiNjA_. This was about 3-4 years ago. I was having major fun getting trashed in the CWs but my clanie started QQing about the losses. Banned said, "you won't get any better by playing against noobs in pubs." Then Banned left next day and I so did I. I followed Banned around watching him play GR and asking him questions, I'm sure I annoyed him... But he still helped me. I still remember the little advice he gave me which made me a lit better. He said "GR is all bout positioning really, nothing more to it than that. PP will come naturally." Yes, I know. This is basic GM knowledge but for a noob it helped. I self taught my hops by watching others. Then I ditched my old acc and made NobleBeast. I wasn't the best at BL for the longest because I preferred GR and never played BL, but after I joined Exertus I made sure I practiced and got better at both sides. My hops were decent then but I was still trash at BL... I didn't know why til MapleSyrup was telling me about game sense. I was an aggressive player an went straight for kills which led to my death. And I really didn't know how to move around the map as BL for easy kills. Maple gave good advice and tactics I should use. So I thank Maple and Banned for me being a decent player now. Plus all the people who put up with me always asking for 1v1s from y'all. You guys made me better too. Nelson, Depado, Anarchy, & Adderall and themingler. xD

Wow nice guy Banned the clan hopper :P -
Me and my cousin [B used to play together alot. He loved to play bl and I loved to play gr. We were learning together or against each other and we both became pretty good gm players.
I remember all the rooms where we both were getting kicked for killing everyone lmao. But sadly he doesnt play anymore. -
Dang, the first time I played Ghost Mode was by mistake. I meant too click on the Alaska Map but join an Lab game. I didn't know what the fck was going on so I just camped at the entrance of B waiting for someone too run past me. I sucked so bad that I was getting kicked from almost ever game. It probably didnt help that I was spraying my butt off and going on random killstreaks with an shotgun. But once I started too learn Ghost Mode, I created Smoke1 as my main Ghost Mode account. I thought I would switch between accounts but GM became so much fun that I totally forgot about it. I always used headphones because of my console days, so all I had too do was get used too the pinpointing. I would like too thank Banned for explaining the concept of Pinpointing too me and thanks Yu-Star for teaching me the concept of b-hopping. Oh can't forgot GringoBird for showing me water bhop and trying all type of crazy b-hopping routes. I'm still trying too complete the hardest b-hop route on this game, its just haken is barely played and the route is very dangerous and hard..

Same with me but I was interested to know what this guy means by BB and PP .. So I tried to join Ninja™ (Old GM clan) .. An LT messaged me and he started to test me (He tested me more than 7 times and I couldn't join the clan ) In the 8th time he asked me to if I can pinpoint, I replied him "What pinpoint" .. His feeling was like .. He asked me to watch the BB and PP video on youtube .. He left the clan and the other LTs refused to test me because I haven't got a silent weapon then I tried to join Essence™ and Hallucinate tested me but I couldn't join due to my skills, Hallucinate practiced me to be GMer but he refused to let me join the clan :'DDD -
I never played ghost mode before nightfall update,i only played on night fall just for the ribbon and never thought about playing ghost mode again until march 2013 to get ghost mode gauntlet ribbon i had to play 1000 minutes and collect 1000 kills so i searched and i found a ghost mode guide on this forum created by @yarrh,the guide was really helpful and during this event i mastered GM but i still don't like GM much and i prefer EM or SND.

Well, I have a lot of masters, but no one really teach me much (except masta Nel who spent 15 min of his life teaching me to do curved hop and double jump. Luv ya masta!). I learn from watching people after I die early in a round (which happened a lot at first and even now if I do ****** things). The people I observe are usually people that I consider "pro", with professionalism in playing and attitude. Neets like me have a lot of free time for practicing, but I still need around 1 month to bhop and pinpoint comfortably (not under too much pressure though). My weird keyboard setting (jump with right click, special with "F") also help a lot in differentiate my play style with other people, make a noob like me can sometimes irritate experienced people and grab some kills.
