Honestly I think he has a valid point. It makes money for the company running the game, but it doesn't really make the competitive scene much different if everyone bought more zp.
The only things that would change this fact, is if they offered in game purchases that in some form crowd funded to bring in more events / prizes, but in the current state of the game that doesn't exist.
I am a big fan of what other games have done with this: Offering skins and what not to enhance the prizing for events.
I think they should make like ESL / ESG / WCA / CFS ZP Crates or Items and use a portion of profits from them to make prize pools bigger, and events better. -

How do I know this? I went twice and sat down with the GMs both times and was told as much -
It isn't a valid point, Soldier Front for godsake has competitive players buying items to stay competitive because all of those items are used at the international LAN and the reason why people get an all expense paid trip is because the competitive community PAYS for it by buying items

you're right, it has to do with the GM's, but look at how much the GM's care for us other than saidin, which other GM got somewhat involved with us?
Economically speaking, yes everyone in the competitive system spending money would enhance the scene. If more money getting poured in the game, theoretically they could hire, per se, a 'competitive GM' which would focus on this scene. But how likely would that be, when g4box/smilegate west/whatever they're called could easily pocket the money. -

i have 90 ping, your excuse is irrelevant and irrational, europe, china, and brazil all have competitive players playing with 60+ ping.
famous was talking about ping variation, not how high the ping is. The other versions all have near the same ping. In our version it's much broader due to west/east coasts. -

NA, Europe, Brazil, and China all have similar variations of ping.
