Thanksgiving Tourney
Ok to ensure that this years tourney wont flop (like last years halloween tourney) i am starting to take teams and helpers names down. I would like a caster and a tech advisor (for anti cheat measures) and an extra organizer.
I would also like to take a community poll as too when you players would like to have this tournament (of course around thanksgiving but a specific day/time).
Teams of 5, 2 subs welcome. Random number picker will determine seeds. Also a random number picker will choose the map.
Teams need to be in at least a week before the tournament start date, so hopefully ill have the brackets set up and the teams can possibly scrim or research their opponent.
Now for the reason you came for, Winners reward.
There will be a total of 90$ or 90,000 zp awarded to the winning team, split up of course (also depending if you have subs or not). A ten dollar Karma Koin will be awarded to each player on the winning team, subs included (regardless if they played or not, so free ride perhaps? ) That equals a MAX of 70$. The last 20$ will be in the form of a UGC and will be awarded to the winner of the Post Tournament FFA match.
The winning team will play one match after the tournament. Same rules will apply above (Random map pick, subs included) The winner of this 5 to 7 person free for all will win the last 20$ in zp.
So Start Getting those teams ready!!
*If you would like to help out with the tournament, instead of playing please contact me asap. As this will be my first (hopefully) successful Tourny held.
Happy Halloween everyone, Now get scouting!!
UPDATE: THIS IS NOW A FULL ON SINGLE ELIM. SnD TOURNAMENT. SIGN YOUR TEAMS UP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!
ALSO THE DATE HAS BEEN SET!! NOVEMBER 16TH First Match will be starting AT 3:00 PM CENTRAL TIME.
TEAM CHECK IN WILL BE FROM 1:00 PM TO 2:30 PM CENTRAL TIME!!

Do you've got skype or something ? It's way easier to chat there then here ;p If so PM me with your skype xP -
Take away gm amd escape mode, with that many maps it will be confusing. Just make a default time with the specific mode and map for all matches that day. So SnD and em would be much better and logical. If you get carried away you will lose control of advising the tourny. Then make a rules and match reporting thread. Just keep it simple since it is your first one.
Ex: DAY 1 (ALASKA EM) 8:30 pm est default 11/1/13
DAY 2 etc. -
SnD events are generally the preferred choice, even to the public scene. I have hosted tournaments in the past and if you need me to be one of the admins or an organizer, I'll gladly help. It is actually not hard.
As for the dates, I recommend setting the dates yourself. It gets pretty hectic when a hundred players all want different times and dates. Simple solution would be to set your own default time and date.
Example: First round matches start November 11th, 2013
Default time: 8 PM Eastern Time -
Lol Gl even getting 3 teams to participate then lol
Time isn't really the excuse... in any event. From my past experiences, default times have worked. For one, it won't cause problems because it gets messy if you schedule a time that benefits most players/teams, but not all of them. To stay "neutral", it's best for there to be a default time where you just play your matches, preferably on the weekends. And in the second place, it's more organized to have all participating teams play at the same time so that you don't see matches reported from a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, etc. Again, it gets messy and confusing, especially for the players. -

Understood. And you're always welcome to help out tweeters. Organizer it is. I'd say caster but i wouldn't be able to get you away from LoL
Speaking of casters however, how many should there be? -

I would say about 2/3 but that's more my opinion ;d -
Thats the joy of this tournament, it is completely and utterly random.
SnD Em Escape and GM
so a one in four chance you will play SnD
Could be subject to change however.
I thought it was a pretty cool idea. This way all teams have a possibility of an advantage and teams could also both be in strange lands (E.G. Two SnD teams playing Escape) -

Well lets hope this doesnt cause a disaster. Tourneys are usually snd, no one ever plays any other mode. -
I would actually, the biggest thing is spreading the word. Teams need to know about this tourney. I also want a couple casters, Logic says hell cast the final so i need a few people for all the other matches. I might have a couple matches running at once to condense the time down a little and if that happens i need another host. Lastly i need a tech adviser as i know pretty much nothing about the anti hack measure taken during tournaments.
Take your pick. As of now i have
Sun][Light: organizer/planning
oLogic: casting the finals
Steel need:
One more organizer/planner
Three to four more casters and
however many people it takes to set up anti cheat measures -

I've already 2 teams that are willing to participate -
I'm willing to be an admin and help out with the mechanics of the entire event.
You could ask JPurvis to stream-cast. As for a good ac, there's bandi (Bandicam). Or you could also request use of the OCG Anti-Cheat known as Client X.
Just on a side note, is this going to be a mix of all different game modes? And what style will this be played in? Single elimination, double elimination, etc.? -

I thought Moss was a good solution as well. I believe a double elimination would take too long since it's a 1 day tournament but that's my opinion. -
Thanks for the help guys! Client X seems to be the best bet considering it is used for OCG.[MOD]Fizzeq wrote: »Just on a side note, is this going to be a mix of all different game modes? And what style will this be played in? Single elimination, double elimination, etc.?
Yes as of now it is a mixture of SnD GM EM and Escape. Im trying to make this a unique tournament unlike the rest. I also feel it should be a single elimination, but if YOU (as in anybody reading this) feel it should be double elim, please inform me on why. Remember this IS a single day tournament so time is a factor.
Edit: who would i contact for client x? -
I dont have enough time, if you had read you would have found out that this will be my first successful tourney. This way i have plenty of time for prepping and for teams to sign in.
And it wont be ON thanksgiving. Thats ridiculous. It will be sometime around Thanksgiving (Date Pending)
