WCG Round Format
Hey guys, as most of you know, this year for WCG Qualifiers they made a new set of rules that adjusted the Round Format, making it 10 rounds to win. In 2011, and in 2012, the Round Format was set to allow each half to max out in potential rounds, allowing for 9-8 halves. I'm curious how many people would be interested in having WCG US change the Round Format back to the old one. I'm sure that if enough people show interest, then they would oblige. So far, I've sent a ticket to WCG US in hopes of convincing them. It will definitely help for people to send in their own tickets to US WCG concerning this, so that they can see some interest.

I like the old ruleset but what will happen for the matches that already played with the current ruleset? Would the 1st round matches need to be replayed? -

They already screwed us when they changed the rules 3+ times 1 days before the qualifiers were announced. -

I agree with this considering some maps are either T sided or CT sided and depending on the first half score, motivation can affect second half game play for either team. even tho I'm not doing WCG US Just my opinion -

I'd be down to replay the first round match, but of course this ruleset would have to be changed tonight. -

I agree. I submitted a ticket to get this changed as well.
Whoever is in wcg USA...please do this so everyone gets a fair game.
Thanks -
Outside of the clan server, the rounds aren't counted that way, so you don't get an even amount of rounds for each team on each side. Outside the clan server, you could win 9 rounds on GR and only need 1 round on BL or vice versa. On the LAN client, correct me if I'm wrong, it works like the clan server and the first to 10 rounds would make sense, seeing as it would be 5 rounds on each side (GR/BL). Pretty sure it's just a misread on how the servers work. I can e-mail one of the WCG Admins we're in contact with for the AC hosting. We had them change it last year back to the old way that everyone wants, but I completely forgot to check this year.

keep it, i don't want to be at comicon til 12 at night playing a cf LAN, this method of rounds is more effective and better preparation for whats in-store for International lans (WCG).
Agreed, we need more time to get high and wasted. -
Isn't china's qualfiers bo3, tdm, elimination, and SND? Almost everyone in our version likes it at 9 rounds per half, and they've had it like that in the past qualifiers. Change it back .
Yeah and the point of doing first to 10 is to prepare better for WCG Grand final. -
Well, there's two ways to interpret this, I guess.
First case: team A wins first half 9-5, they only need to win one round in the second half. This is ******ed.
Second case: team A wins the first half 6-3, at which point everyone leaves and switches sides for the second half. Seems like a hassle.
Main problem would be if people got confused and played like in the first case. -

Yeah, that's what I mean. The phrase 'first to 10 rounds' could mislead people. They might misinterpret it and not realize they have to leave after 9 rounds. Or both teams just forget, play the half to 17 rounds, and don't remember the score at 9 rounds. Lol.
Whatever. IMO, it would have just been simpler to do 7 round halves, with victories by accumulation. -
They play first to 10 in international tournaments. I don't see the problem if our goal is to become the version in crossfire.
I would not mind that either..but its max rounds format, and first to 10. So 1st half could be 9-8...second half could be 0-2 and the team with 8 rounds wins. Or, if the team with 9 rounds wins 1 round they win. China rules you play 9 rounds per half - not max 9.
It needs to be changed -
While the round format in China itself may be 10 rounds to declare a winner, playing a longer match gets teams more practice. As the rounds go on they get more difficult considering teams have more time to get used to each other, and so creative strategy becomes more and more necessary. Having matches that are longer also shows more of a proper comparison between the skill level of teams. I also believe that in a 9 round max half, the consequences are too severe for most teams. Instead of promoting teams to become more variable in their approach to the game, the lack of a cushion in rounds makes teams nervous, and they begin to sit around for 2 minutes and 30 minutes crawling around the map, instead of manifesting a proper strategy. The way we play our tournaments is up to the community, this is my point of view, but it's based off of my experience in the CF competitive scene.
Like I've said before, I would recommend those who are against the current WCG US ruling to send in tickets. -

Are you guys stupid or am I? I'm pretty sure you're suppose to play 9 round halfs which means the closest the score could be is 5-4 going into the second half which are the WCG international rules. You dont play out the whole half lol. its 9 rounds strictly.
