Community Announcement Pings, Server Locations and more
Attention all Conspiracy Theorists!
For those convinced on conspiracy that the servers are moving etc etc we'd like to give you an official statement.
CrossFire works with multiple tunnels and multiple servers. Just because someone can ping some packets and obtain a few IP addresses does not mean it is accurate information.
The mmoserverstatus website is not an official link to determine the status of the CrossFire servers.
We have now taken steps to increase our security such that you can't just ping an IP address and determine whether a server is up. The ping will send you elsewhere and it will return false information.
Server Locations
The NA Server locations have not changed. They are still located in the same places as they were 2 weeks ago.
Please note that we own the license for all of North America, which means if we wanted to move a server from Toronto to New York we have the full authority to do so.
They have however, not moved.
UK Server Locations
Over the last 2-3 months we have migrated the UK servers to a server bank in Germany. Our parent company SGI, a subsidiary of Smilegate decided that this was the best course of action. It happened in multiple stages, some servers were kept in England and then finally moved over to Germany.
SGI, owns the license for CF EU, and they also own G4Box so there is no conflict with the licenses for the games.
Please note that at this time the IP restrictions between CF EU and CF NA will remain.
We apologize for the lack of information on this fact.
This will be the last we will be discussing of this fact until further notice.
Your In Game Ping
Due to the security measures we have taken, we have reason to believe your ping in game may not be as accurate as you would like.
We need to run some tests on this fact to determine the best course of action moving forward.
Please note that a ping change of 35 - 45 is not going to be noticeable in game.
We are not obligated to inform the public about these changes, especially due to security reasons. But this minimal amount of information should suffice to help alleviate some concerns. Server stability, security and user experience still remain at the forefront of our goals.
We apologize for the inconveniences that some of this has caused, but please understand that it's for the long term goal of growth, stability and security for the game.

Too harsh?
The fact is, we need to inject a little shock value into this announcement so it hopefully sticks. It is virtually impossible to change someone's opinion once they are convinced they are right. Even though they are completely wrong.
No matter what we say about the fact that Alpha Server hasn't changed, that person will continue to attempt to "ping" the server, get a returned value that may or may not be located in Toronto and will be convinced that the servers have moved and that their 13 ping difference from last week is because of this fact.
When those facts are completely false. -
I'm confused why you'd not want http://mmoserverstatus.com providing a service that obviously you can't/won't provide. You always say 'watch for announcements and such' when you post 2/3 hours AFTER the fact depending on the time of the downtime. Your announcements are completely unreliable 3/4 of the time.
Hell, whenever the servers are having issues (which is almost always), that site is our ONLY way to find out if the servers are up! -

From 5 to 20 is a 15 difference you think no biggie. Saying my ping quadrupled is like omg. I was rocking a 12 to 17 a week ago, yesterday was 38 to 41. Very noticable. Not like lagging but when you are used to things reacting a certain way for the past 2 years it just feels off. -

It's not that he refuses it's that he and several others already answered this question several times in many different forms. If he answers it again you won't listen either ways so why waste his time? -

I think that if you can't login on CrossFire but your internet is working fine its pretty obvious that servers are down because of something. -
