LOADING ERROR AFTER JULY UPDATE - MSVCR80.dll
Hi guys,
just run into the trap that CF won´t start after the last patch - a fresh install had brought no success too.
Pop-up window appears that CF application don´t work anymore and must be closed.
Info:
Problem Event Name: BEX
Fault Module Name : MSVCR80.dll
My solution for this problem was to change the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) settings in my win7 Ultima 64bit:
Log in as administrator
- Click the Start orb and right-click “Computer”
- Choose “Properties” from the context menu.
- Choose “Advanced system settings” from under “Tasks” in the left pane.
- (Approve the User Account Control query (You will have to be an administrator to do it).)
- Click the button “Settings” in the Performance section.
- Click the tab “Data Execution Prevention”
- choose “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:”
- click Add to add the crossfire.exe (browse to the game directory and choose the .exe)
- Click OK twice
- Restart the computer for the changes to take effect
Seems the last patch have changed the memory settings/addresses, and btw. not a good way to make this software more secure...
If someone helps this - give me a ty

-if your problem is still there after the servers are up again it has maybe another reason - maybe me or someone else can look into your problem after that -
hey man, i cant find crossfire.exe i've been looking for it for a while now can u help me out?
It is in the main crossfire game folder...and the location of the game folder is where you have installed CF...maybe you don´t see the file extension .exe depending on your folder options/settings.
If you can´t remember where you have installed it - make a right click on the CF icon and look under "Properties" > "Shortcut" tab > Target - there you can see the path to the CF_G4box.exe and the crossfire.exe is in the same folder. -

I have already tried this method, but it still does not work, the client doesn't even open. After this patch, I can't even open league of legends on my computer. -
