I am running Win XP SP3 Intel CORE2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz CPU 4Gb RAM...
Prior to the last update.... I had an occasional App error... (no big deal as I multi task at work) but now i can not join a match....
I have uninstalled and re-installed CrossFire two times.....
I have tried everything in this post and still am unable to join a match on this machine. (My Windows 8 machine works fine) I have also listed an exception in my AV. and still nothing???
I am able to use the shop, black market buy crates , spin, (win) use storage adjust bags.... basically every function except get into a match....
I can join a channel sit in a room and when joining/loading the match I get the App Error and crossfire closes this happens on new matches (waiting) and matches in progress..... any other ideas? -

Strange - I never run into this problem...there is a way to disable DEP completely, but i don´t recommend that.
And you are sure that you are logged in as administrator and you choose the crossfire.exe ?
For some people this had workerd as a 2nd solution:
Running the game in compatibility mode:
1. Right click on the CF icon.
2. Click on Properties.
3. Click on the Compatibility tab.
4. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for".
5. Choose Windows XP (SP3)
6. -also check "Run this program as an administrator"
7. Click on Apply -
I did the first fix even though it was for windows 7 and not XP and of course, no luck for me..
I restarted my PC and it worked. But I don't want to restart everytime I want to play CF...
Any other solutions?
So you had the error with the MSVCR80.dll on XP - you followed the 1st fix (-last step is a restart) and it did not work...and what have you done before the 2nd restart to make it working? -

So it seems you use windows XP or Vista...don´t know if it´s working for these.
Anyway i would try 5. windows XP (service pack 2) in your case.
If it don´t work, you can look in the event viewer in your windows-OS - and look for the time when you try to start the game - maybe their is an entry with more information (warnings/errors) about the problem:

Still not working
So I had just reinstalled cf and after patching and waiting for everything to load. I got a "Send Error Report" thing and tried this solution but it didn't work. I've tried running it in compatibility mode, but every time I did, it told me that I was running it in that mode and to turn it off. I'm running Windows 8 and I would love some help. -
im confused.... you right click computer got to properties and go to "task"?? i dont see task
- Choose “Advanced system settings” from under the different “Tasks” between you can choose on the LEFT SIDE.
btw it´s written for windows 7 like it´s mentioned. -
ok so what about a [file is changed bugtrap.dll] error?
I have no specific solution for this problem.
I would suggest the way described here:
http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=52579
FILE IS CHANGED W[2007] L[0] and other File Changed/Forged Errors
- Uninstall the game completely
- Disable your antivirus' realtime protection
- Redownload the game
- Install the game
- Add the entire crossfire folder to your antivirus exceptions
- Re-enable realtime protection (i would do that after the first run of the game)
Also if you had other realtime protection software installed, make an exception for the crossfire folder in them. -
Crossfire closes automatically after HGW game watcher load
everytime i open my crossfire this always happens: i open it, then closes automatically after the HGW game watcher load. This happened few days after the July patch. Can somebody help me with this problem? -
