[GM]Saidin's sub-forum

i read the GM-Saidin's open letter to all and propose: let's open a sub forum, which must replace a PM for him. I bet, that solution can help [GM]Saidin to communicate with all community and stop spam in other forums.

  • I like this Idea, but woulden't it be better to make a "Ask the Staff" Subforum?

    Good Idea man!
  • The people who are dumb enough to make topics randomly directed to him are probably not even going to find the proper forum to post in if it were added.

we have a lot of moderators, so - if my suggestion is approved, ALL topics with words like "PLEASE GM-SAIDIN ANSWER ME"(c)[GM]Saidin must be removed/replaced to that sub-forum.
  • How about people just don't make such threads?
  • If anything, this'll create even more spam
  • And where's the privacy that a PM might give?

p.s. I don't think it would stop spam.
  • +1
    good idea

    9 : i don't agree with you
they don't ask him about personal affairs so there is no use for privacy
  • Good idea, but its still going to be the same old spam but as for privacy they can change the group level that can view the threads or the whole sub-forum. For example, they can make it so you must be a moderator or an admin to view the threads giving people privacy.

P.s this is actually a very good idea so people don't have to make threads about mods having to make room in their inbox.
  • I have an idea.

Let them do their job and stop spamming them with useless PM's and threads.

What if it was personal or something to remain private? There are a # of things I think maybe should remain private. For example, reporting forum users for breaking forum rules, or having an account issue that necessitates the user giving personal account info to a GM.

Maybe it's for ideas or communication about planned ideas that need to kept secret until its ready to be announced.

    That's too easy jp :p
I don't mind that there's discussion on this. But in my mind I don't support this idea. Nuff said.

    I agree.

Such an additional forum board where players can directly communicate with Saidin would simply violate our rights for privacy with an administrator.

Not to mention that a load of spam would be filled there with just about anything you can possibly imagine. To be honest, I'd rather patiently wait for his PMs to be available and then send him a message rather than others reading my private messages.

Lol "your words to saidan" (trolling time later)

Seriously though I agree, I wouldnt want any topics that I would want discussed privately posted for all to see. And like 9 said it would cause spam and no doubt would be trolled.
  • what about having a sub forum where

    only selected people can post

    and can discuss constructive ideas

    without trollers

Who gets the job of deciding who should be allowed in this sub forum?

It'll possibly bring unfairness to many players. There are tons of people who will be selected and there'll be tons who may not be. Too many people are going to complain. Spam will still be present as well.

I disagree with any sub-forum board where we can communicate with Saidin. The reason is mainly that it violates our rights for privacy.

I prefer waiting for his replies rather than having thousands of random people seeing my messages to him. This, is my opinion on the suggestion.

tons? doubt that considering I would take only a few.

unfairness? it's their own fault if they are negative towards any idea, can't stay on topic, break forum rules, etc. as soon as they change their behavior they can be added.

besides this I highly doubt many people will care. the only people who will care are these, who will be added later in the future, because they're doing something for it.

I can only see positive things about it tbh.
  • How about this:

Make a subforum of the 'Tech Support' section where people can post messages specifically to Saidin. Have it setup so people can only see their threads to Saidin (Mods also, to clear out the spam). It's possible on vBulletin (What the forum runs on).

Maybe be something for where only those with minimal or 0 infractions can go.

    maybe

and it doesn't have to be an "access to admin", because this won't happen. maybe he will take the threads in there more serious, who knows.

    I like the idea..

If it's only selected people who can post, how would the staff decide upon that? No, by unfairness I mean the fact that many people who will not be selected to be able to post in the sub-forum their ideas/complaints/messages. By spam, I simply mean that there obviously will be an abundant amount of different topics being discussed by the selected forumers and messages directed straight to Saidin regarding just about everything of the game, forums, and their issues. Without a doubt, I believe he probably will not have time 24/7 to reply to every single message.

What about the urgency and the importance of those messages? There could be a big event or tournament occuring and someone may be looking to message Saidin regarding it. But instead all the different other messages would simply drown it like a pebble in the ocean.

What I'm saying is that it's not a very good idea to implement a sub-forum board where all discussions and open topics are tolerated. Of course, with some little improving and more rules set for such a forum board, it can be available for everyone to use. But for now, I'll just stick to privately inboxing him if necessary.

Did everyone just skip over the most possible, and realistic idea here? I think so. :(

    Post promoter.... ;)
    *bad boy.

OT: tech support could already see threads on the regular tech board. I believe it's just not part of their duty to be responding there. Hence... Support tickets.
The tech board is to have players help troubleshoot issues/provide solutions.

This idea is so dumb, it deserves a prize.

That's not what I mean. It was just an example of where it COULD be put. It could be put anywhere. I was just using 'Tech Support' section as an example.

The point of it was that instead of giving certain people rights of access and some not. Since its to be another way to PM Saidin, just put up a sub-forum and only allow people to see their own posts. This would eliminate the trolling and would allow it to be just like a PM. The only difference is MODs would be allowed to see and remove the troll and 'Unban me plox' threads.

9, all [GM]'s are a public figures in the CrossFire. So - Saidin must get PM only from Z8Games staff, imho...

[GM]Saidin is part of the Z8Games staff...

He gets tons of PMs from everyone.
