Look I'm sorry that the $350 security deposit is being an issue for some.

I will talk with the hotel tomorrow to see "WHY" they are charging it like that.

Yes is alot of money at first, but if you behave yourself and don't break anything, then you will get the $350 back. Consider it a loan without interest.
Im not crying about it, but why do it when I know I can stay at other hotels without having to do that. Keep in mind not everyone is going to be able to roll that much out pocket up front and still be able to go out.
This is why Hotels require an adult to book a room. people are worrying over a deposit that most hotels require. Adults do npt care because they hold the deposit off the credit card and no real money is being held and you can still spend 350 of cash wherever. Go get a credit card and stop crying about the deposit.
I am an adult and never have pay a security charge like this. If something goes bad they charge your card after.

thats because you use a credit card, if you use cash/debit they will charge you then return the money.

Wrong, I do not use a credit card. I use a debit card. I'm paid per diem so I would rather charges be immediate.

Iceman I agree with you. I will find out about this ASAP.

I have sent an email regarding the security deposit.

Unless they have had problems with high school and college students wrecking rooms. If you can give me a day or two to resolve this.

welp, I have stayed in many hotels and most of them charge if you pay debit/cash. I did say most though.

it is fair that they require a deposit.
  • it is fair that they require a deposit.

I agree that it's fair, but it seems a bit steep, does it not?
Yes, all of this could be avoided with a credit card, but $350 is a lot for most people, and coming up with that kind of money upfront is difficult. If anything, it should be lowered to a more reasonable amount.

A security deposit is normal for most hotels but I have never seen it where you had to pay it up front or at that amount.

Please give me a day or two so I can work it out with the hotel. If it doesnt work. Find a hotel nearby.

I'm sorry that I suck at this.
  • I have stayed at many hotels during lans and travel

    A) I have never had to submit a deposit, I have always used a Debit Card
    B) There is no deposit required for this hotel if I go through it by normal means
    C) No hotel in the world accepts straight up cash as a form of payment (Unless I'm Bond and handing the dude 3000 bucks)
    D) Someone still needs to answer on the internet. Most hotels I've stayed at can barley load forums or keep a stream of netflix going without crashing. Does this one have enough to have 40 people playing crossfire at once + Streams?
  • I've been working in the hotel industry for a while now.

It depends on the hotel you are going to. If the hotel is somewhat above 'top class' or a higher rate of stars.. they will make you pay a damage deposit which can be used for other things such as complaints and such.

By the looks, they are going to make you pay a damage deposit due to the age restriction age they did - think about it.. a bunch of teenagers (and some adults) all under or around the age 18 will be in rooms from different area's of the continent that will most likely drink, or just be loud in general.

Same goes for my hotel. We don't make damage deposits unless it is a large party of young people, homeless looking (drunks, etc. [as bad as it sounds]) and groups of mixed age groups for events.

It is kind of bogus, but I stayed at the Rad' a couple of times, including the one in Toronto.. usually with large parties for gaming or for a camp we did. So it's kind of gay but still suitable.

I've worked in the hotel industry for almost a year now.

incidentals charges are nothing new, just wondering why they actually charge it tho.
My hotel takes a credit card number to keep on file if we think the same things, drunks, kids ect.

I've also stayed at plenty top notch places, and they never took off my card. The age thing seems to be the factor here. Just don't feel good about giving 350 then getting back 5-7days later in CAD.

edit: also 350 is ****ing nutty, can't believe they're actually expecting that amount..
  • every hotel ive stayed in korea, hk, singapore, taiwan, japan and vegas required a deposit, some even required a higher amount. It is 500 you will get back, should not be a problem. you are booking the hotel with a credit card anyways, let them get the deposit from your credit card, you will not be charged. everytime I stay over at Cosmopolitan, they charged me 150 for deposit and it shows as a hold on your statement and when you check out and all goes right, it shows as if it never incurred.

The problem people are having is gathering the extra $350 for the deposit. Although they will get it back, its something that they don't like to do.

alright thanks. hop on mumble around 4est we'll talk.
  • Just stay at another hotel pretty simple option here. No hotel i have stayed at has ever charged my card $350 they just keep my card number on file in case anything was destroyed during my stay. Simple solution stay at another hotel and just go to raddisons for the event.

i'm sorry but you're doing something fantastic and organizing something like this is difficult. its awesome.

overlooking a deposit is not a big deal.

^^This has to be one of the nicest things I have seen you say.

Thank You, wish you could make it too

I have asked for 20 rooms to be held off.

If people are going to be staying at another hotel, then I have to change the amount of rooms on hold.

The Deposit is only a problem if people don't have the money.

Be mature, don't break **** and don't wake up the guest.
