Got exactly the same problem. Just got a new computer with Windows 8.1 and immediately after I get into the game, XTrap shows up and gives me this error code. I already added CF to my exception list in my Kaspersky Internet Security, but I still get this error code. -

mine error code is 080-0400-00000000-507, Some functions of the operating system has been corrupted. Please close any program which is affecting game client and restart the system. Honestly, I re-set up my whole windows 8.1 system and redownload the game like more than 10 times. NO IDEA what programs are affecting the game client. This damn error still jump out every time I open the game.

I've got a different code field error that, based on feedback from different x-trap equipped games, has led me to believe that Windows 8.1 is the root of the cause.
This here is my exact code field.

I am prompted to close "conhost.exe" at times and at others, "powercfg.exe"
both of which are not running at the time. -
Today I beat the final crater boss and then I got the stupid client error.
I think today is probably the laststraw I'm going to possibly uninstall the game. I know this happened a few times in the past but this ****ed me off at no end. I'm not going to play this game for a week and I might get back to it if I feel better.
I let the crap about not getting the stupid dragoncrates go but this is about the final straw. -

I have re-installed the game 4 times. virus scanned my computer 3 times now. and after all that. I even just factory reset my computer. still having the issue. I'm running windows 8 but haven't had a problem for months. -

2. Software used for Mice and Keyboards. Most notorious is Logitech drivers and its software.
3. Some Multimedia software: XFire, Steam, Music playing software
4. Screen Recording software: Fraps, Playclaw, Bandicam.
5. Overlays in Programs: VOIP overlays (E.G Ventrilo, Mumble), Fraps overlay (On occasion, usually never), XFire overlay.
6. Some programs may not fit into these categories and may be some obscure or foreign program. This is for you to use your initiative to find and close this program.
Things that should be Done BEFORE reading the thread
- Scan your computer for any viruses/malware
- Reinstallation of the game from an updated installer. See http://crossfire.z8games.com/downloads2.aspx
- If you know the error code, Press CTRL+F to look for your error before posting.
- Follow this thread for help with adding Crossfire to your Antivirus exceptions (Outdated, message of your antivirus isnt listed)

- It is recommended you use an Antivirus known not to interfere with Crossfire. Known Antivirus software include: Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, Norton (NOT FREE).
Sometimes XTrap will display the culprit that is causing XTrap to stop. On the other occasions, refer to the list below for details.
ERROR CODES
1. CODE FIELD [01-0400-00000000-701]
"The Security module cannot run properly"
There are some other programs that have problems with xTrap or the other way round.
Known programs are:
* Comodo
* ThreatFire
* Sunbelt
* Agnitium Outpost Firewall Pro
* IObit Security 360
The problem with XTrap can be solved by closing down the software mentioned above.
If just closing down doesn't make the problem go away, try to uninstall it.
*Note: You are unprotected when closing down and/or uninstalling these programs.
2. CODE FIELD [16-0400-00000000-202]
"The game cannot run properly"
You are running another program that conflicts with Xtrap, (See above for a list of known programs to cause XTrap errors.)
Turn off any unneeded background programs and try again.
3. CODE FIELD [02-0300-00000000-031]
"Game must be run under the System Admin Account"
You must have administrative access to run this game and XTrap. Right click and choose "Run as Administrator"
4. CODE FIELD [30-0400-00000000-207]
"The Game execute file is not normal or an abnormal memory access has been detected. "
The error might be caused due to Anti virus or Spyware scanning your computer. This can also be cause by hacking tools but NOT ALWAYS. There is a program running that XTrap is detecting to be causing abnormal (at least according to XTrap) memory access. Close unnecessary programs and try again.
5. CODE FIELD [02-0300-00000002-021]
"Some functions provided by the operating system are not working properly by the external program.
Please close the program that prevents normal game play."
This normally means a program is running that is clashing with xTrap, however it can also be a service issue.
Open Task Manager and close all unnecessary background programs. Gamebooster is a useful tool for closing unneeded programs.
6. CODE FIELD [01-0300-00000000-031]
"operating system is not supported "
The following OS are not working with Crossfire and XTrap:
- Linux
- Mac
- Windows 8 (At the moment. [Release date 26th October, expect a patch shorty after that date though there is no ETA)

This error message from the Firewall settings or does not provide settings for Windows Administrators.
Try:
- Turning your firewall off
- Make sure you're running as Admin
- Sign off Windows.
- Log in to your Administrator account.
- Note 1: For Windows Vista and Windows 7 users: Navigate to your Crossfire Folder, right click on HGWC, properties, click on the compatibility tab, check 'Run this program as admin'.
- Note 2: You can also use the above note info, on crossfire.exe, and cf_g4box.exe.
11. CODE FIELD [02-0300-00000000-211]
This error is likely to occur in the presence of virtual devices installed on the system, like:
- Daemon Tools
- Alcohol 120% /52%
- Virtual Clonedrive
Solution: Disable or turn off any CD/DVD burning software/virtual drives/emulator software before running Crossfire
12. CODE FIELD [02-0400-00000000-530]
Close any program you do not need to run. Something you have running is interfering with Crossfire and XTrap.
13. CODE FIELD [05-0400-00000000-203]
Please close any program (auto, cheat, crack, debug program) and restart the system."

14. CODE FIELD [08-0400-00000000-509]
This error is caused by Ati Tray Tools (or similar background programs that change the playingfield) which attempt to connect to Crossfire. In Ati Tray Tool's case, it was the 'FPS Counter' which caused this error. XTrap flagged it as abnormal thus blocking S4 League from launching. Disabling this 'FPS Counter' feature was enough to stop the errors. But in other cases you might need to close the background/3rd party programs completely.

It is possible you are running a program that conflicts with XTrap (Example : another game that uses XTrap as hack shield). Open Task Manager and close any program that might interrupt with XTrap.

- Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.
- Click Advanced System Settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
- Under Performance, click Settings.
- Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.

The first update contains the others, if you don't install that, the windows updater will offer the second update..
If you have this issue, first try to remove these updates then reboot. If the game still doesn't work:
- If you installed the IE8 first and then the SP3, reinstall the service pack.
- If you installed the SP3 first and then the IE8, reinstall the Internet Explorer.
Be careful when updating, do not install the updates mentioned above and keep in mind that there's a chance that future Cumulative Security Updates for Internet Explorer 8 might cause trouble like this.

I run Avast Pro Antivirus and have tried restarting the system 3 times, ran a full virus scan and have tried to run cf with my antivirus off and still receive this error -

Xtrap is crap
Same error since 10/15/14 update. No new programs installed or running. Yes, have Windows Vista like all the other victims. Tried with all antivirus & firewall protects off. Have re-installed game TWICE. Still no luck. When this has happened before, the problem wouldn't resolve until Xtrap updated (that blue box at bottom right of screen that flashes for moment upon game loading). I wonder if this is conspiracy with Microsoft - paying gamers to write bad code for older OSs - to make us want to PAY to upgrade to NEW OSs ... LOL -

i cant play until 15th october and i tell u something: THERE is no end in reach!!!
i have uninstall now and play INSURGENCY 2 on Steam. no hackers cant get in this BEST-GAME ever and the firefight between US Army and Irak Insurgents is the BEST gameplay u have never seen before!!! Belive me guys!!!!!! Crossfire is a cheap rip-off game that love hackers and moneyspending noobies!!!!!!!!!
