[V2]Some simple tips to make your Gameplay smoother[V2]

**This Guide is about what I have found out, it may not be neccessery true**

2 Main things contribute to the smoothness of gameplay.
Our ping/latency and FPS/Frames Per Second.

Definition of ping/latency would be:
"This is the amount of time it takes a packet of data to move across a network connection. When a packet is being sent, there is "latent" time, when the computer that sent the packet waits for confirmation that the packet has been received. Latency and bandwidth are the two factors that determine your network connection speed."

High Ping=Bad
Low FPS=Bad
High ping and low FPS both causes lagg. There are many ways we can improve our FPS and reduce our Latency

Increase your FPS:
1. Clean your computer regularly.
Ccleaner

2. Defrag your system and registry.
http://www.liutilities.com/

3. Use a gamebooster.
GameBooster

4.If you are using integrated graphics, try and upgrade to a GPU which is called a Graphics Processing Unit or a Graphics Card. You can get a decent one for about £40 and get about 40-80 in an 8v8 in Crossfire but make sure you have a PCI-e slot on you motherboard

Important
4. Update your graphic card drivers
To know what graphic card you have use GPU-Z software,
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/

Driver downloads:
Nvidia card users:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Ati card users:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

5. Nvidia users:
Set your perfomance slider to "perfomance". to find you perfomance slider go to
Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Nvidia control panel
then on the left hand side: Adjust image settings with preview, the adjust the slider to "perfomance" side
**I changed mine from quality to perfomance, my fPS changed from 30-45 to 60-150!

ATI users visit:
http://ati.amd.com/products/catalyst/top10-1.html for tips to increase FPS and overall computing

6. Use softwares such as Tune-up Utilities to tune your computer etc

7. Restart your computer!, continouse use of PC forlong time increases system load and decreases FPS significantly

8. Keep computer clean of Viruses/Malwares/Spywares

Ping
unfortunately, there isnt much we can do about reducing ping, but there following will help:

1. Play on the closest server.
Currently servers are located in Canada and West Coast and possibly one in UK soon.

2. Get better internet connection. Cable connection preferable for lower pings but really good ADSL2+ ISP's can give lower and really stable pings.
E.G- My lowest ping is 102 with Virgin media(UK), a cable internet provider. BE*(UK), ADSL2+ ISP can give 104-108 ping which is quite stable.
Make sure you do a lot of research and read reviews about ISP before switching to a different ISP

3.Try and minimise the use wireless technology for gaming!.
I have tryed playing with the latest wireless technology which is known as "N"-Technology, you still get small-big laggspikes depending upon the distance between your computer and router. Direct connection from you modem to computer is always better.
Also, other wireless electrical appliances such as wireless headphones, cellphones etc. can cause interference with wireless connection

4. Dont download anything while gaming. Downloading will increase your ping while you are downloading it.

5. I myself have found that, lightweight Antivirus like ESET NOD32 will decrease your ping by 1 or 2 or 3.

6. Scan your computer, get rid of all Viruses/ Malwares/ Spywares.

7.Programs such as Cfosspeed can help stabilize your ping a bit more.

8.Network Card,
-There are "Gaming Grade" network cards out in the market which will help you reduce your Ping and Increase your FPS. Try this link for a glance:
http://www.bigfootnetworks.com/

9. Try to going online only one device at a time (PS3,Xbox, other PC's etc)

Hope this helps.

I will post if any helping further information is found

Uh i think you have to open up the application for that and at the top right/ top left corner there is some buttons one should have the ability to lead you to the website to update your card.
  • can drivers be linked to bullet holes/tracers/muzzle flashes not showing up?i have a decent video card but during FFA those things disappear on and off,my vid card is a ATI VisionTek Radeon X1600XT AGP 256MB GDDR3 @ 1.38Ghz/Core @ 590Mhz.

  • GameBooster is ok from 300ping.. It wil drop it to about 180ping and increase your FPS by around 10-20...

I highly recommend you using Game Booster if you have high ping and low fps..

If you stil have bad ping and lots of FPS

    Try TCP Optimizer
    http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php

How to setup and get started with TCP Optimizer

When you download a file there is a download speed and when you run TCP Op there is a long bar with numbers going from 100-1000 i thing well that is your internet tranmission speed so set your download speed on that bar.. and your ping should drop by 100-50

If still having trouble lowing your ping
Try this.. This will drop your ping by 25-75..

    Simple Steps
    1. Go to Start
    2. Click Run
    3. Type "regedit"
    4. Find this "63925628.jpg
    5. Go to the top (Edit > New > DWORD Vaule)
    6. Type in "TCP Frequency" - Vaule Data (1)
    7. Go to the top (Edit > New > DWORD Vaule)
    8. Type in "TcpNoDelay" - Vaule Data (1)

  • Hack a fan into your router, it helps a lot especially if you have an old router that tends to overheat.
  • Or you could just move closer to the server.

    NORTH AMERICA FTW.

ive never heard of a router over heating.. O.o

    >.> anyone have an suggestions on fixing fps rates, ive been getting bad fps spikes since new patch, im guessing some of the new items are some how lagging me out. when i first start playing ill be getting 40-50 but then after few rounds it drops down to 15 stays there for a while, then randomly goes back up. I have no idea why its doing this.

It gives BSOD if you close your razer product lol
other than that I think it is great

Well i can help in that department. its most likey because there are more people joining and leaving. i know when im 1v1 ing its 190+ FPS for me, i would say but the more people join the more my FPS takes a hit. I would think it has to do with rendering the players and there weapons, nades, bullets, etc. a full room 8v8 takes a HUGE hit on me and im sporting a ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series card on a quad-core computer. then again im running everything on high so yeah....
  • great info !
I've done all this already, and it did help. but I still feel I'm not getting the most out of this PC. My ping is fine usually around 60. I have a great ISP . It's my FPS that gives me trouble at times I think I have a setting off somewhere , or I need an upgrade. I don't want to waste money on something I don't need. and I'm not a computer wiz. maybe one of you know where I should start. here is what I have
    It's a 2010 HP desktop
    64 bit OS windows 7
    4g ram
processor: ADM sempron LE 1250 2.20 GHz
nvidia Geforce 6150 SE nforce 430 (driver updated weekly)
    directx is 10.0
if more info is needed I'll look it up
the graphics are fine, better than my HD t.v. all my other games run smooth. no other complaints . its FPS in crossfire that bug me , it goes down to 25 at times. normally it's about 50
many thanks to any helpful info on this problem
