If 100 people would be willing to pay $20 to compete in a league there would be no problems have a $1750 tournament every 3 months.
1st- $1000
2nd- $500
3rd- $250
Other $250 goes to the league for expenses/expansion.
That's how CEVO took off during the CAL days. The GayGod Supports.
I agree on the most part, this community's population has been depleting rapidly for a while now. Echo 8 use to be packed with teams looking for scrims, now it takes about 10 minutes or more just to find one person.
I think if Z8 Games could provide some type of competitive aid to the community (our type of competitive, and no idea what) and have (a) stable league(s) for the game. Another thing, the attitude in the community is.. not very pleasant, which is another thing potential organizations might look at?
Just my opinion.

It isn't z8's responsibility to provide prizes for competitive leagues. It has to come from within our community.
Pay 2 Play is the only way to get some kind of a revival going in my opinion. -

Sounds like a great idea, I would definitely pay up, perhaps somebody should make a thread and see how many people would be willing...as for an AC I'm pretty sure moss/bandicam should suffice as long as bandicam is set to 15 or so fps at least, people should just record themselves launching their game and them entering the game, you can just record your entire screen w/ bandicam. -
My brainstorm at work
I have a lot of time on my hands so I will post this and edit it as you all give feedback.
Here is an idea that JKeith2k brought up the other night and I really support this.
Basically our competitive community needs to expand its player base. Our community is already very small. The only way I see a "major shift" in interest in the competitive side is to "open our mind to other possibilities".
Here is the point I am trying to make. Crossfire NA definately would have enough players to have a great competitive community if everyone played. Unfortunately, being a F2P game, the whole point of the game in most people's eyes is to just have fun and "pub" it out with friends.
When I go into clan server, I see a vast list of teams, that I have never even heard of. I would guess that these "teams" actually "scrim" in one way or another. Since they set up 3v3's 5v5's 8v8's, but they "compete" to beat each other.
Some reasons why I think that these teams are not interested in joining our "leagues" is because...
1) Advertisement: The leagues/tournaments were not promoted enough to the community as a whole. This is something that (if Z8Games took interest in doing...) should be promoted in the front page for at least a day. That way, people can SEE the "$1,000" tourney that is being hosted that ANYONE could join for FREE.
2) ZP weapons and characters: Honestly, people can complain about zp weapons, armor, items, etc. However, I can guarantee a majority of the CF community has PURCHASED ZP. If people spend money on a game, they would want to USE that money in game... I understand that having rules similar to WCG helps organize and create a more "professional feel" to the competitive gaming side... But you won't utilize the extra 40 teams that could be interested in playing just because they cannot use their weapons.
---- PS. I'm pretty sure that if you're good, no matter what gun (excluding the few noob cannons that everyone complains about) IT shouldn't MATTER.
3) Leagues: We need a league, a foundation for this community which we can build on. WOGL, ESL (other leagues before my time) despite what people may think, was the best thing our community had, because it was ALL that we had the past few years. People have been extremely impatient with ESG, however it was ESG's fault by being too anxious and over-hyping its release. I understand that it may be trying to promote itself, but if you make a deadline in the real world, you need to MEET that deadline.
4) Staff & Sacrifice: There NEEDS to be more people that will sacrifice their own time and money to help the community grow. Honestly, if FGJon didn't spend thousands of dollars, I wouldn't have stuck around and I don't think many people would still even be interested in trying to play competitively until something like THIS came around. Despite any opinions regarding his personality or the way he runs things/tournaments. He HAS helped our community a lot. I know there are A LOT of people who would be willing to help in any way they can. What I am trying to point out here is, money doesn't grow on trees. If you want GOOD service from staff, GOOD websites and events, lets not forget PRIZES.... You need to pay a fee. <-. Z8Games is NOT responsible for paying/advertising the competitive aspect of the game. It is the community's responsibility.
EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinions. Many people may even have better ideas. But you need to speak out and back your own words and be willing to accept other people's opinions as well.
I am not expecting this game to ever become "big" in NA. Not unless we can expand the amount of people interested in the competitive level of things. But honestly, we need to start building a foundation... aka somewhere to begin with. Hopefully ESG can do that.
EDIT: Let me add that although $10/$20 a season is too much to SOME people... please be aware of the ZP you have purchased since playing this game. I know many people complain that they cannot pay those fees, but you look on their gaming profile and they have ZP and GP weapons that could not have been obtained without spending money on ZP... Don't get me wrong here... I understand that to the younger people that $20 is a lot. But for the older folks... its really like taking a day to dine out.... -

Sounds fantastic, and about the 20$ think its good but a little expensive especially every 3-4 months. -

There will always be cheaters in a game. As much "crap" people say about people having to record. It actually is very effective....... (personally i hate how my bandicam keeps stopping and alt tabs me to my desktop). -
The idea of Z8 forum Admins posting the Tournaments on the front page woudl increase TRAFFIC SIGNIFICANTLY!!
THEY NEED TO DO THIS ADVERTISE THE TOURNAMENTS AND THE RULES ON THE FRONT PAGE!!!
I mean look at the Competitive tap on the website... they don't even bother to update it... is FGC not an OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT?! I mean come on. I know the responsibility doesn't necessarily fall on them but where is the help? I mean really?
It's like the competitive scene is in someway the blacks in america.... -
More than 3/4 of the people in your list don't even know what esea is, let alone understand how the client even works. Getting a tonne of band wagoners who want a "good client" at any costs even if it means not actually knowing what esea is/how it works and giving support to esea picking up crossfire when they don't even know what it is nor have they ever played on the client itself means nothing. how do you even know the client would work for crossfire? people get away with cheating in css and don't get caught, don't be so quick to be excited about an IDEA of esea coming to crossfire, which it won't any way. I could be naive and follow suit and support. But it would be just that, naive. Reality check, crossfire is dead.

If that's your opinion cool, but don't try to shoot down others ambitions... Bc when they get things started you will be one of the first to sign up...
It's not my opinion, it's a fact.. honestly wake up to yourselves. There is nothing that will revive this game so no, you would be wrong.
showing support to an idea that will not happen means nothing, sorry. -

Buy the rights to host CF in NA, release dedicated servers in some form, fund tournaments, pay for a **** ton of coders to fix the issues with the game.
With enough money, there's almost ALWAYS a way. -

I'm aware that with enough money it would be possible, but who would spend that much money and time? -
Besides before any of that happens there needs to be fixes to reg, mouse hertz, reg, air reg, reg, replays, reg, client errors, reg, among a whole lot of other (reg) issues.
1. New record to saying "reg" so many times
2. you forgot interp
OT: i support! we need a great league to try and help out -

What makes you think a game with this horrible of a community would earn a spot to be the first F2P FPS on ESEA?
