All clans should use growler for recruitment!
As the leader of a clan (OldLegends), I'm always wary of hackers somehow getting through the loopholes and joining my clan. After I saw that Talonblaze is making growler a requirement for his ghost mode tournament, I got to thinking that maybe it could be used to try people out for my clan, and limit the amount of hackers that join as much as possible.
OldLegends does the following to reduce the chances of hackers joining us:
*Must have their honourable ribbon - If the person trying out doesn't have their honourable ribbon and they say that it's due to a chargeback (which is really the only acceptable reason), we ask them to send a support ticket in asking for their ribbon back because it was just a chargeback. Once they are replied to, I go on teamviewer with the person that wants into the clan and check their support tickets to see what they asked and what the reply from support was. If their honourable ribbon wasn't restored but support confirmed that it was because of the chargeback and not a ban, we let them join/stay.
**Must record their screen using growler in their tryout - Since OldLegends is both a Ghost Mode and an S&D clan, we offer the choice to each applicant of doing one or the other (or both if they want). We then tell the applicant that there will be two games for their desired mode, and if they pass the first game they will have to download and use growler, as well as submit it through mediafire. The first game is to see if they are worth playing the second game. If they are good enough to play the second game, they record it using growler. If they good enough to pass in the second game as well, we ask them to submit the recording through mediafire and we watch it. If there is no hacking, we let them join as long as they pass the rest of our requirements.

Q. What if their computer isn't good enough to use growler?
A. Talonblaze provided this link in his tournament thread: http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=164534 . You can either provide them with that link, or they can figure it out themselves. note that I suggest making them have at least two frames per second in the capture

Parting notes:
Of course I can't force anybody to do any of the above, but if your clan is against hacking and actually cares about it's members, I strongly suggest doing the same thing that OldLegends does, as noted above. The growler thing is new to me as well and I've just started enforcing it, but I'm sure it will greatly help at cutting out hackers.
If you want to join the group of clans that are reducing the hackers in the game, just let me know on this thread and I will add your clan to the list!

I wouldn't doubt they'd no recoil while growlering with 1 fps. -
I stopped reading when you said you have to have honorable soldiers ribbon.
If they play fine on growler, then that's that. Also, people can still cheat on growler. Just a heads up.
You obviously shouldn't have stopped reading, I explained the honourable ribbon thing in a detailed paragraph. They simply have to prove they lost it from a chargeback.Exquisite93 wrote: »it's not a bad idea but to tryout with growler..

People that join OldLegends are expected to be at a certain skill level when they join. If they have to hack normally, chances are they're not that good without their hacks (or else why would they even use them?). If they take off their hacks and do bad, they aren't allowed to join.
This process only works if tryouts are required to join, and the people applying are expected to be good already. -

What I meant was, why is honorable soldiers ribbon even required, if recording is required also? As long as they can play good while on growler, I don't see the problem.
Here's where your logic is wrong. Some people don't have to hack, they just do it sometimes for fun. If they aimbot, it's a different story. But just chams, they can be just as good with as they are without. -

Why are honourable ribbons required...?
Because we don't allow hackers into our clan, whether they hacked in the past or present (and we can't really prepare for the future in that regard so).
People that cham are more likely to rely on them instead of gamesense, and they have to have decent gamesense to get into OldLegends now that we're so strict on accepting people.
edit*
It should be noted that what I've recommended on this thread is not for all clans, just those that want to reduce the amount of hackers in their clan as much as possible, as well as only accept very good individuals. -

Nobody recently, but lately I've played against a couple people trying out for the clan that I denied because they were very suspiscious. Using growler also ensures that if they're so good that you think they're cheating, that they're actually just good and not cheating. -

and btw
people can easily toggle with 2-4 fps..
*cough cough* ck -

That would really only be possible if they knew when growler was recording each frame. As far as I know they can't tell when each frame is recorded.
If they can somehow know when each frame is being recorded please tell me, and I'll up the fps limit for my tryouts. -

never really used growler, cant help.
i know no recoiling would be possible though. -

Yeah I realize that, but Growler requires the person to start recording before they join the game, so I can see what they have running which will help (but I'm sure there are probably ways of getting around it).
Other then that, no recoil is something I can't really detect unless I look very closely.
But nothing that I know of will get rid of the hackers 100%, this is darn near that though. -
Although most of the time honorable ribbon means you have got banned for hacking through Z8 or using hack software.
However, there is some cases that people lose their honorable ribbon for stupid problems such as payments for ZP that do not go through correctly and you get chargebacked. This has happened to many people i've known through mobile surveys. So just take this into consideration but good ideas. -

Somehow I don't think you even read the thread past the first few lines. -
Danny_Yang wrote: »Gowler makes me lag.
And honestly this won't work.
1) Hacker just won't use their hack
2) who would want to take so many steps just to join a clan? I know I wouldn't.
If recording 2 frames per second makes you lag, that's pretty sad.
The only step that's required as long as you have your honourable ribbon is record the game and submit it through mediafire; that's like 2 steps. If doing 2 things to join a clan for months is too much for you, perhaps you aren't joining the right clan. -

Lmao,
Hey, who would want to go through all that just to join a clan?
Anyone can answer.
And just so you know my average FPS is 25. -
Problems with this may be they won't do as good with a lower FPS. Not everyone is a good player while recording, because some, like Danny here, don't have the highest FPS rate. Other than that I think this is a good preventative measure. Although I'm one for Bandicam. ^^

It's a virtual game to go such lengths for a game, I must say wow. Troublesome idea, perhaps good at heart but entirely useless in the end of a day. (One will move on. Find a clan, they'll be accepted. That's that. And if they don't, it's not the end of the world going clanless.)

Disagree with the honourable ribbon -.- some have weird a-ss reason and get banned. I dont think the ribbon is that important , some players doesnt have time to go and ask for a ribbon... Dont be too strict otherwise great idea about the growler and teamview :? hmmm you can't expect a person to let a stranger view his computer rite
